Well tankers whats everyones stance on ninjas in the joe verse?
In my professional warfighting opinion ninjas have no place on the modern battlefield.though i believe that unarmed combat skillsets that could be taught by someone like the hard master would be valuable im hard pressed to see how a ninja could infiltratea secret facilty with hightech resources like the pit or how one of them could rush through 23 troopers slicing them in half with out one of them getting a shot off inbetween his running lights and the only thing that can stop him is an equaly ridiculus ninja.I doubt that a hand forged katana could slice through sapi plates and kevelar with the quickness that it does in the joe universes. So i will be casting a firm nay and thus vote that the ninjas be purged from all joe history this i command lol

I'm not a big fan of the whole ninja lore. I thought it was cool when I was younger, but I think that it doesn't really add much to the story. I look at the Joe stuff as purely military. Stealth and hand-to-hand combat is good, but in this regard I'm more of a fan of the commando/special forces/SEAL stuff. So I say NAY on the ninjas.

i used to be pro ninja 100% but now im moving more towards the realistic military view. being an expert in hand to hand is very different from dressing like a ninja...the new jungle SS and CS SE are ninja-esque but dont look like true ninjas...so yes*

I don't know about the kevlar part, but can kevlar gets cut all the time by knives, it's only meant to stop an impact, not a cut.

Most armor is meant to stop slicing, not puncturing.

I love ninjas and it one of my favorite aspects of the Joe-Verse, Storm Shadow is by far my favorite charecter.

I think the Ninjas work best when they are kept in there own little subverse and every once in awhile intergrated into the regular Joe verse. When we had Ninja Force in the comic, it seemed those guys were fighting their own battles and doing their own thing almost entirely. Snake Eyes being the link to core Joe team and Ninja Force was cool.

Ninja Force...well the spring action in the figures sucked, the vehicles were designed by mildly retarded individuals and it went hand in hand with the most RETARDED Street Fighter II figures, so I think it gets dragged down because of all that. Had the figures NOT had hot pink weapons, a mohawked Zartan and stupid spring action? It wouldve been cooler. I still dig em though.

The team itself was cool though...a group of hand picked martial artists that I dont think had ANY previous military training..I think their rank is just a Joe equivilancy...anyway, a group of ninjas fighting a silent weapon war is awesome. Just do it right.

This conversation is hardley relevent considering the fact that we are debating what goes on with action figures and comic books. What is realistic or not in the modern day battlefield has little to do with plastic men.

I'm ok with them, in moderation. Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow... to some extend Jinx and maybe even Kamakura... Those characters all had viable story for their existence, and were "believable" in their comic book world.

Beyond those, most of the others were there just to sell ninjas, and I'm not too fond of them. Though I don't really blame Ninja Force for the demise of ARAH... there were plenty of other neon clad groups who sucked even worse. I have to admit, if give the choice of reading about Ninja Force, or the Eco-Warriors, I'd take Ninja Force every time.

When GI Joe comics came out ninjas where never mentioned.2 years into the series they say that snake eyes is now a ninja and not the commando he originally was. Now every new GI Joe movie has a ninja battle scene(Valor vs Venom, Spy Troops and the Rise of Cobra). The GI Joe movie in 1987 didn`t have ninjas and it was fine(actually the whole Cobra-la thing screwed things up) but it was still a good movie!

But that Zartan wasn't a bad sculpt, and did a nice job of capturing punk biker. I think he could have been passable with better paint. A lot of the later sculpts suffer from horrible paint jobs, when in actuality, they're pretty nice figs.

gotta agree apart from the neon colours ninja force zartan was a cool figure,not a ninja true but the sculpt was really good he looked well pissed off!!!i like it so much i bought one off ebay last week,with the shipping he cost me $6 which is about £4!!bargain!!! i think a reworked,better coloured ninja force could be quite cool,maybe a 6 figure box set 3joes n 3cobras?? but no SE or SS???

Nay. Ninjas are impossible to kill, can always fool anyone that they are dead, and even when you do manage to kill them, they WILL come back to life. I'm sure somewhere, a bunch of red ninja clan ninjas as well as night creepers are running around laughing about how they really fooled SE and SS. Even the Hard Master must be kicking it in some grotto in Japan.

Then there are the b-listers, slice,dice,seiten,aleph/nightcreepers, and a few characters i created..these guys are formidable enough to take out mid-carders like grunt or shortfuze, but not the main dudes.

Then the ninja fodder rounds out the last tier, these guys are made to prove the "Ninja Rule"....that if you see one ninja, run for your life but if they mob you in the double digits, break out the nunchucks and a smile. They fall easy to the heavies and allow the weaker joes (grunt,shortfuze,other greenboys left out,alpine, etc) to feel useful. Red ninjas fill this role nicely.

This is how my verse is set up, yours may vary of course. I doubt many of you disdain alot of the joes that i do, and thats cool.

Dude, I totally see it that way in my Joeverse as well. Ninjas are just awesome, for me at least. If there were no ninjas in Joe, I would have never been hooked the way I was. Snake Eyes V3 was very 1 Joe I ever had store bought for me. Then Night Creepers, and so on. Ninja Force was my greatest dream come true at the time, lol. Love em.

For me i think its the perfect combination of Ninjas, Soldiers, and Robots...kinda like a p'nut butter, 'nana, and 'mallow sammich! A taste combo that just can't be beat. But yeah, ninjas made it work for me....the rah joes that got the most play time for me were v2 SE, v2 SS, and v1 BAT, followed by Vipers, Blueshirts, and Nightcreepers. I grew to like other cobra infantry and to appreciate the more hardcore Joes (beach head, stalker, Flint, Outback, Falcon, etc) but the Ninjas still rocked the show. I liked them less when they transitioned to Ninja Force though, the spring action crap and wacky Comicbook NinjaTurtle-esque outfits kinda lost the plot for me. I didn't mind the outfits so much since most Joe outfits at that time were pretty wild but the spring action crap did annoy me too. I never used it though. I could play with and pose their arms in a way that they still looked normal.
