A buddy gave me an extra ROCC he purchased for parts to repaint for him. I was going to try one idea...then at last minute figured I'd try another route.

I didn't touch the interior (its pretty detailed as is) just added some decals to the jet and the comm center.

I didn't paint the turrent yet..anyone who has one knows this area moves around ALOT. He has two children...and if they are getting it, I wanted to save the playability factor without risking paint wear here. This may change as I hear back from him.

Overall...I like it, and so does my son. I got two of these coming from HTS this week hopefully...one will be done in the same manner.

Great job. Now that is a command center worthy of Cobra Commander himself. Have you thought of what to call it? Something like Anaconda would be cool and hasn't been used by Cobra yet.

I dubbed it King Python for now...but seeing as how this was a commission job, I'll let the owner name it.

Thanks for the comments!!

I'm so jealous! Amazing job. How did you get the python look to it? Or is that a magician secret?

Thanks fellas!!

Tin: nope its not a secret. Over on joecustoms.com check the wiki for pythonizing. I basically went by that except I used those bags that you put babie clothes in the washer in. They are basically mesh bags...I picked some more up today and they were labeled Sweater Bags.

I painted the whole thing green...after it dried...laid the mesh as flat as possible on it (enlisted the wife for this process - extra hands help out alot)...then painted with black. After that dried...I put the mesh on again and painted the silver stripes through it.

It sounds like alot to do...and this was my first time attempting it, but it just takes some patience.

Thanks so much for the tips. Whoever thought up the pythonizing technique definitely gets creativity points. Your ROCC looks awesome!

Right?!?!?! I couldn't agree with you more, man. The minute I came home from vacation and saw this bad ass piece of cobra weaponry...I almost RAN to HTS to buy another ROCC so that Apac could paint it :D

I was thinking since the ROCC I recently picked up was so cheap I could experiment w/ customizing mine as well...but w/ all of the "glass" around the cockpit...how does one not get paint on the areas that you won't painted...esp. when using spray paint?

Fly, buy some masking tape, and tape off the windows...works every time ;)

Be careful though, if spray gets between the tape and the window, it will be a godawful mess, thanks to the glue on the tape. I've learned that the hard way, lol.

Exactly.

Masking tape is the way to go, but take your time putting it on. I always go larger than the area I want covered...then cut it back with a utility knife. Before painting...make sure every centimeter of it is pushed down flush on the glass.

The other areas you don't want painted...you can cover with tape, or cover with newspaper then tape it in place.

Best advice I can give you is....if the vehicle you want to paint can be disassembled, do so. It saves you lots of time in masking...but you will find with the ROCC, the wheels are on very tight, thus I left bottom half of it the stock color.

That's... that's just too cool for words. I never liked Python Patrol... until now.
