Hi I am not trying to start a flame war.. or trouble with anyone but as a new person...
I see alot of people complaining alot!
Man, I mean a large majority of people are using this forum to vent thier gripes when they can't find a figure its first 2 weeks out. (be patient!!)
People keep slamming target, walmart, tru, (haven't heard about K*B yet) its the purchasers fault not the retail employees they are cogs in the machine!
I dont work retail but i have before. Everyone there are many other options than these 3 stores.
they have atleast 3-4 place on line that can send you the toys you are looking for...
you dont have to shop on ebay.
I have all the new figures (wave 3 comics from tru.com wave 6 from bbts.com and everything else i have found at either TRU ebay or entertainment earth
I just buy alot of stuff by the case so i am guarenteed to have 1 of everything (thank god for 8 case packs. if they were 24 to a case or even 16 i might think twice!
I pay around 60$ per case delivered but i have EVERYTHING i need in one stop with a few clicks of a mouse (sometimes i even have extras...)
I dont sell them i just keep them i mean u never know when i might meet someone who will need a snake eyes from that way or destro snow job ect...
will i charge them more? no... I will try to trade them or give it up at cost because i know how frustrating it can be to try and find stuff!
so anyways just thought i would offer an opinion.
not trying to attack anyone personally but if you look at it from an observers eyes... *especially* someone new...
it appears as though about 40% of this board is nothing but people mad at the world about lack of distribution, scalper people, and short supply of new items...
Remember kids... this could have never happened and we could have NO NEW items period!
be thankful we are even being recognized and accomadated even if it is in small quantities at least its something
these are toys not gold bars you will be able to find them and 'collect' them all at some point the same thing happened with star wars 10 years ago... when they first came out with he-man luke and monkey face leia/gorilla chewbacca...
I just pray to go they dont WHORE out G.I . Joe the way they did Star wars because it seems that everything in the Lucas verse is somehowe needed to be made into a figure...
I don't read the comics i only watched the TV so I hope thay they make most of all the figures from the show at some point which is maybe 200 or so...
but i definatley don't want to see it go back to the 1994 Days or the "ECO warriors Ninja crap"
that just made me want to cry :)
if you want to reply you can do so here but i am also

Good points Amberbratt, just realize that people need to vent. (That's why they are here) It's natural.
I personally try to find the figure before it leaves the shelves, I have recently experienced this with SW figures. Plus, most people enjoy the excitement & gamble of finding them in the store! I know I do!

I agree ,you guys just need to be positive ! I bought all my 100 + joes all at walmart, tru, target. accept for my pdd gold and silver, yellow stalker, and snake eyes , roddy piper, and shipwreck variants. which i got on line. it is all about being patient, thankful , and knowing when to let go of you pride. For the fact of the matter is you are alive today, but you might not be tomorrow. So enjoy what you have now. For ther are kids in this world who do not have jack shit!!!!
For the truth being that if my home burnt to the ground today with all my gijoes, I would still count my blessings. For there are far better things in life that are more important than pieces of plastic. like what you know to be true in your heart.

you guys have good points to
thanks for the compliment :)
I would love to be able to search the stores but i am pretty much to busy these days with work to invest extra time in finding empty pegs I live in the bay area i don't think i have seen to many items on the shelf in YEARS lol... i got tired of looking to be honest...
So I evolved and went to the internet....
I figure at 60$ a case.... your paying around 6.99+ tax (7.50 a figure) ya its more expensive than wal mart but the 24 hour wal mart here in Union city is full of tweakers!!
Tweaker = person who is up @ 3 am spun out of thier mind shopping for a pillow, house plant, 3/10$ DVD 1/2 open bag of cheetos in thier cart and hasn't showered in about 2-3 days while mumbling to themselves about random nonsense.
So with gas prices in CA being $3.30 a gallon...
my car (2008 scion TC) gets 25-30 to the gallon...
If i drive from fremont to pleasant hill/ or San jose (around 30 miles each way) from my location....
for less that cost of 3 gallons worth of gas, (1 and 1/2 round trip pretty much) I save my self dissapointment and effort, time spent looking only to be told "everything is out' or having to get into a knife fight with the comic book guy over a bent up 25th stormshadow ... or even worse taking the last 'coool figure' from some kid who only wants a snake eyes joe.. or whomever the 'new guy would be'
I would rather just pay the extra 8$ and be content knowing that I have it its coming and let some other person do all the work...then if i get a post on here about someone needing a joe and i have it just pass it on or trade it :)
I have seen some pretty cool auctions with like 50 crimson guards. and 50 cobra troopers (Silver logo) I am sure i will see B.A.T.S to
This doesn't mean i wont check the stores when I go and leave something behind if i want to buy it... I get to Target about once a week...
If its there when I am I will buy what ever they have at the moment (maybe 3-4 army builders or what the new wave is) but if i already have it in the package (Like wave 6) i will just leave it there for the next person.

tweakers sound awesome. i wish i was that cool but all i ever get is pop tarts and milk and gi joes late at night in the walmarts.

A lot of collectors are impatient. I try to be patient myself, but I decided to just preorder all the singles from BBTS. It's just easier.
Amber you made some great points though, welcome to the 'Tank.

You make some very valid points about all the bitching and whining that occurs here. However, in defense of the cry-babies (which I can occassionally be) you need to understand that boards like these are our only outlet for for our juvenile whining. Honestly, do you think our wives, friends or co-workers give a crap about our plight to find action figures....uh, no.
Further, I think everyone has the right to complain to a degree. The fact is, these figures are meant to be sold at retail in large quantities. They are not created to be distributed only through on-line sites and comic book shops like specialty toys (i.e. McFarlane). So, it is only natural for people to gripe when we can't find the figures at retail.
That being said, I agree there is far too much complaining going on. This is especially true when it comes to gripes about characters being made, whether someone has the right weapon, how many hairs on on a guy's head, etc. We all need to lighten up and enjoy the ride while it lasts.

I really enjoy the hunt. So that alone prevents me from ordering on-line. But I don't bitch and complain if I don't get a figure first.

Many good points Amber, but I don't mind whining and in most cases when a thread is about scalpers and poor distribution, I'll leave it alone unless it is something important like destroying merchandise or stealing which makes collectors look just as bad as scalpers, so just let the bitchin roll off your shoulders some folks are never happy! Good topic! Peace!

So, everyone, what do we do to change that perception, hmmm? (don't respond to me, just think about it :) )

You hit the nail right on the head!

Yep. After all, if somebody says they don't like all the whining, the bitching, the complaining,.........whatever you want to call it. Aren't they doing the same thing themselves? If you go on any collector forum, whether if it's for action figures, movies or cars you have to live with the fact that everybody has an opinion and is going to complain and compliment about their passion for something.

There's a fine line between having a debate and/or discussion and straight up whining.
You know, I don't like 25th Rock & Roll, but you do. - Discussion
WAH! 25th R&R SUCKS! You suck too! WAH - see where I'm going with this?

Now would be a good time to say, "HASBRO'S 25TH ANNIVERSARY GI JOE LINE IS INCREDIBLE!!!"
Seriously, I am throwing down money left and right to snatch up every crumb of GI Joe goodness. Further, even the worst aspects of the line (Serpentor, Goofy colored Comic Packs) are still far better than damn near every toy on the market. Not only that, I'd take a dud like Serpentor every so often for amazing figures like Beachhead, Snow Job, Storm Shadow and all the Drednoks!!!

I personally take my frustration out by banging my head against something.
Amberbratt you make a lot of good points.
Besides the WM that is 5 minutes away, I rarely go out on the hunt anymore and I am caught up with everything Joe-wise. The reduced hunting has set me back on my Star Wars and Transformers collections though. Buy from BBTS or HTS(if they have anything) and if the quality is poor, wait to find it in stores and take back the poor quality one.

Amber's actually a 37 year old guy from Utah named Paul who's in to Dungeons & Dragons and braiding the hair on his adam's apple. We knew that, McK ;) The fact of the matter is, she's right. A bunch of grown men that whine about toys. Welcome to (insert fandom here) collecting!

Being in the UK and before I was heavily involved in the online community, I had to rely on Ebay. As such, I got a Joe vs Cobra Stalker figure (the bright green one) and a Night Attack Chopper before the stores in the US (only by about two weeks). When I posted pictures, I got accused of displaying them for "bragging rights"... yeah, as if having toys before someone else is a cause for pride and boasting. That upset me and I left that forum. I don't want it happening here as it's a pretty stable and welcoming place.
Nobody is asking anyone to be 'yes men' (about customs, the movie, anything!). Of course, it's human nature to 'complain', but when they sign up to this forum they agree to do so in a manner that is at least civil and impersonal. It's a condition of them being here, yet too many break it when it suits them.
I also get a bit peeved when people tell me to "suck it up" and say "it's only the internet dude" if I happen to be upset by a nasty remark directed at me... An insult in an insult no matter where it comes from, and one person being able to shrug it off doesn't mean everyone can. I certainly can't.

Amber did make some key points. The complaining and personal attacks do seem to get out of hand. This has been my first online community that I have participated in and I love it! People will complain about scalpers, hoarders and other things that transpire in the collecting world; like others said it is an outlet. What I hate is when a member gets a new item a few months before it hits retail and all hell breaks loose due to attacks from a jealous collector(s). I believe these individuals cause more harm to our community than the average complainer. Stop the personal attacks people, some of us do not want to hear it.

Some people shouldnt have to go the online route.........I dont have a problem walking into Walmart and getting my TF or SW fix......distribution does suck for the Joes....... If you dont want to read about someone bitching go to another thread.......Why should someone have to pay shipping and handling when there is a Walmart right down the road....why cant Hasbro (Like they promised) amp up production........but can litter a store with Spider Man 3 toys? I have never seen anything like these Joes...never had a problem getting anything before until the Joes came back out...........

There is one thing to remember about distribution. It takes time for the factories to pump more out and once the product has been made it is sent to the buyers warehouse (wal mart, target, ect..) and once it is there it is out of hasbros control. Next year will be a good year for us. There will be so much stuff on the pegs that we will all be happy.
