Ok new Poll, what Video game figures would you most like to see made into G.I. Joe 25th Anniversary style figures?

Shin Densetsu

I voted Mortal Kombat. Cyber ninjas FTW. Plus the character roster is HUGE.

Spirit-Iron_Lun

I would want MK figures before SF. Kano is perfect for a new Cobra agent plus you cant go wrong with Ninjas. And the ninjas could all use the same mold. We all know how Hasbro likes to re-use their molds

I voted SF. Every MK game since MK2 has been mediocre or just plain sucked. Not saying G.I.JOE is the most perfect property, I would still prefer if it not associate with that type of lameness. SF is a lot more respectable. They've been known to mix it up with the Marvel Universe.

What about having a game like G.R.A.W., Halo, or even Crackdown intergrated into JOE? Huh? Now were thinkin' outside the box.

I voted MK, because I don't know that those have been Joes before. I had the SFII figures back in the day. I hated the Chun Li legs though.

MK did have a 3.75" figure assortment, but they were not affiliated with G.I.Joe as Street Fighter was.

I voted for MK....Ninja Battle Pack FTW!

Hell, all they'd have to do is repaint the current Red Ninja 7 times. Is that right... Ermac, Rain, Smoke, Noob Saibot, Reptile, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Sneezy, Dasher, Snap, Crackle, Ringo... I'm really surprised we haven't already seen these in the customs.

I voted MK just because I never really followed SF after Super Street Fighter 2. But a new M. Bison and Sagat wouldn't be bad either.

None. Use the money to keep making JOEs we're missing instead of wasting it on a niche video game property.

This is good too.

MORTAL KOMBAT got my vote!!

sota toys are doing a good enough job on the Street Fighter series

Johnnyakiba
04-03-2008, 11:03 PM
GOD NO! I am not voting in this poll!
Why would we do:

Street Fighter? - They already have 3-4 REALLY good figure made for that series. America has stained this series since the movie. Granted I love G.I. Joe & Street Fighter, I still would not want to see these hit shelves! (Ryu vs. Ken 3"? ....no thanks I have my Microman...or Sota....or Revoltech versions)

Mortal Kombat? - (Oh Lord) This game series has been going down hill since it hit new consoles. Back in the day, It helped start all the rating system controversy! Also, this game is not as popluar anymore...I could live without THIS figure in my set. (But I do have to say that they moved a generation of gamers)

Listen, I know there are many of you that are fans of each series BUT please could we do a series that has more simularities to the G.I. Joe line of figures? NOT fighting game!

How about: LOST PLANET? or METAL GEAR SOLID! Each of these series feature military stylized characters & Hasbro could use current figures to make those as well.

I voted for Street Fighter.

Amberbratt
04-04-2008, 12:03 PM
I VOTE FOR NONE

I seriously hope they keep this line going for a while but once it starts getting STUPID like some of the crap i have seen on g.i. joe.com or wait yojoe.com

then i will just "STOP" i liked these toys for the old school look i dont want to have a power ranger ass looking gi joe
if i want my toys to have all kinds of cross marketing i would collecting starwars (which i used to collect) until they went to POTJ and started making 400 luke skywalkers and 600 darth vaders han solo chewbacca's ect ect ect and now look u have a 7$ toy and they are all over the place... its junk while i see an ocassionally cool figure out there i couldnt tell you whats in any assortment because they RUINED it by making to many to quickly and suckiing the fun out the fun with all the 'varian't chases ect

I hope that this g i joe things doesnt go that way i would say that my 'celing price at retail is 7.99 and that is pushing it

for what your getting in this "TOY" it should go no higher than that due to the fact these are basically the same cardback, bubble, stand, and RE-HASED parts repainted and shipping in small cases of 8 pack by a truck.

not to mention they own the property and have re tooled the OLD MOLDS are setting up exclusives of the same damn figures and repaiting those and still charging you 5$ a peice (24.99)

I feel bad to for people who are just getting started because they going to be stuck paying 7 dollars for a crappy buzzer or serpentor LMAO

it also sucks because at 7 bucks a pop it ruins it for the customizers out there who have all these good ideas but now wont be able to do it because of COST. While making money short term... in the long run they are going to exclude a larger customer base because of thier need to 'raise prices'.

Hopefully it will all balance out and go back down in a few months because if it goes past 7.99 i sure as hell wont be supporting this line... because I collected some of the random spawn figures and just 5 years ago those were much better in articulation way more detailed and 'collector oriented' manga spawn/anime spawn yadayada

also I have something i could do something with as oppossed to g.i. joe its 4" and while functional and ya you can play with it the paint jobs are SHIT on about 40% of the figures.

I would rather save my money or put a 1-2$ increase... toward something better...

If i do give up i would just go collect something cool like Ben10...

easy to find... and CHEAP... even the new spiderman toys (animated) look cool and the size of VENOM is HUGE

its like 3 g i joes... aren't those like 8.99 or something?

artiepants

Can't I vote for both!? T_T"

Why can't I vote for none!?

Seriously, this poll is missing a few options. I don't consider these figures GI Joes. Even if they were packaged as such in the RAH line, that does not mean they're the same property.

If they got the license and used the body construction for them, that'd be fine - I just wouldn't want those characters taking the place of any real Joes or Cobras.

Dream
04-06-2008, 02:12 AM
You can't vote for none, because that is not what the thread/poll is about. They wouldn't be taking the place of any figures.
Whenever discussion about the Street Figther II (YES THEY WERE PART OF THE JOE LINE GET OVER IT), and Mortal Kombat series come up, we always get people raining on the parade.
I would really like to see a lot more series/crossover lines using 25th styled bodies as figures.
I like how they used DTC figures for the Hulk movie, but it would have been awesome if they were 25th style.
If they did do new Street Fighter II figures, I would love to get M. Bison, and maybe some made up frankenjoed Shadowloo troopers.
If Mortal Kombat was to be done, I can see everyone wanting the ninjas!
I grew up on G.I. Joe, and was still collecting and playing both games big time when these figures came out, so it would be very cool, though highly unlikely, for them to one day release a battle pack styled set for each series.

Hasbro makes too many ninjas, so street fighter. Plus I've been a fan of the street fighter games for 8 or 9 years. One of the first games i ever played was street fighter 2.

My vote is for Mortal Kombat, because I've always been a MK guy more than I was a Street Fighter guy.

Not only that, but The fact that they could make 8 characters off of the same mold of a Lin Kuei ninja would appeal to Hasbro like crackrocks to a fiend. (REPAINTS?! AWESOME!)

Agree. Still a Scorpion figure would be nice.

GI Flow

Both, 'cuz they would all be repaints anyway. So they should do a sub-line that deals with all video games. Like Toy Biz's Video Game Superstars in the Toy Biz 5-inch scale. They had Link/Zelda/Ganon, Chris/Claire Redfield and Leon Kennedy from RE, Lara Croft, even Mario/Luigi, Donkey Kong and other mario kart stars.

Shin Densetsu
05-27-2008, 11:42 PM
Both. Great concept years back, flawed execution. If these were given another go, and the figures were accurate appearance/proportion-wise these would be great and would not be taking up space on the joe pegs. Thats something all of you need to remember. Star Wars and indiana jones have the same figure format but do not steal each other's shelf space nor are they marketed under the same brand. These figures could be sold in their own section or even in the video game aisle.

Hasbro is king of 3-3/4", I'd love to see them add more licenses under the joe format. The problem with the old figures is that they relied upon gijoe figure molds heavily, molds that were incompatible with their appearances in the video game. Done right, this line would rule.

Man Street Fighter brings back memories. Before the home video game console took over the arcades I used to be the King of Street Fighter back in the days.I used to own the Nathans arcade back in Yonkers,NY with 54 straight wins with Zangief In Street Fighter Alpha people would line up their quarters and act all cocky then I send them home lol...ahh I miss those days

Cavbeast

I'm gonna have to say Mortal Kombat, I prefer neither since both lines need to be in the 6" category with loads of articulation like the DC Classics and Marvel Legends.

definitely, the annoying thing about the gi joe street fighter figures in particular is that there were plenty of better parts they could have re-used to make the characters look right but they were lazy (using slices whole body painted white for Ryu,using Ninja force storm shadows whole body for Ken for example...and dont even get me started on zangief!) but even still the heads were pretty bad...

now with the 25th line and molds they have already got some awesome fodder for making more accurate versions-but i would like to see all new sculpts.

None of either of them. They were peg warmers back in the late 90's and early 2000. If they are going to make those figures, wait until the line is damn near dead. I need to call Mattel and ask them to make a 5 pack of Batman figures with G I Joe articualtion in the 3.75 range. I need a Batman, Robin, Joker, Two-Face, and Batgirl from the 80's. I prefer Street Fighter just cause it fits better with GI Joe, they both have military agents and martial artists but there's a lot less magic in Street Fighter (yes there is Ki/Chi manipulation resulting in energy blasts, but no other dimensions, elder gods etc). What Street Fighter did have was a terrorist organization bent on world conquest, even if it used more eosoteric methods then Cobra, I could see Cobra and Shadow Lo doing buisness and stabbing each other in the back.

Johnnyakiba

MK without a doubt because it's such an interesting line up. SF is good, don;t get me wrong, but they have had decent treatments with other manufacturers. MK deserves a good, solid 3.75 run.

I voted for MK. I'd like to see the Mortal Kombat I, II, and III characters done again. A lot of them would look pretty cool with the Joes or Cobra. Most of them can be made using existing molds. And many characters can be made from recoloring one mold. So Hasbro would save a lot on production costs.

Sub Zero would look sweet using a tweaked Storm Shadow mold. Reptile and Scorpion would as well, give reptile a swappable lizard head and Scorpion Montezuma's skeleton head. Throw in Smoke and Noob Saibot repaints as well.

Katana, Jade, and Milena could be made using one female Ninja mold, just give Milena a swappable head.

Kano would look sweet among the Dreadnoks.

Sonya Blade, Jax, and Stryker could be displayed with the Joes.

Cyrax and the other robots would look cool with Cobra.

Put Kintaro and Goro in Comic packs with other figs or as Build-A-Figures to offset the cost of making them big with 4 arms.

Aside from Scorpion and Sub-Zero I would really like to see figure of the MK cyborgs Cyrax and Sektor.

I'd vote both but I can't do that.
As they both have interesting characters varied and numerous.
I'd personally like to see a remade Vega, ninja Smoke, and Scorpion in Joe form.....but I doubt it will happen.

But if I had to choose.....capcom.
If they would be willing to produce figures for them I'd think they'd also be willing to produce figures from other franchises like DevilMayCry and Resident evil. Course at the moment capcoms got their characters stretched across many a line these days.

At any rate there's no reason not to hope.

That's tough...
Street Fighter is far and away the better game, and they are all technically part of G.I.Joe. They also kind of deserve a second 3 3/4 chance more since the recycled parts worked a lot better for MK back then.

But Mortal Kombat characters would look pretty cool, probably bettet than SF, whose art style probably wouldn't translate as well.

So instead, I vote Soul Calibur, since I want all those swords.

i would like to have both but I like Street Fighter more .. this time they should give them better looking faces and their actual game uniform and oh yeah the should refrain from having those bulky shoulders and oblong bodies they give them now more realism and w/o the kick & punch action and make them different sizes, e.i chun li being the shortest..

I'd buy them if they do a better job than the recent attempts.
