Here's the link to the thread and you can see a pic in the link in the first post. Hope these get made as the fig looks pretty cool, despite the limited articulation,

Hmmm? I wonder why all of a sudden WWE, DC and others are getting on the wagon with 3 3/4. Can't it be a certain movie that is coming in 09.

3 and 3/4 inch should have been the standard scale to begin with. All the money I wasted collecting 6 inch figures could have went to 3.75 inch figures with playsets and vehicles. Stupid McFarlane...

That looks as good as the midget microman dark knight we gaot when batman begins came out. That's great.

despite the limited articulation,
Actually its super articulated like the 6" version. Its the 4H sculpted but panographed down, since its smaller, its harder to see the cuts where the joints would be visible. I hear it comes with the tumbler playset. More reason for me to keep hoping the Infinite Heroes line has ball jointed hips.

I'm really hopeful for the Infinite Heroes line, especially since I just started really getting into the DCU. I was never impressed by any of the Batman Begins figures in this scale, and I don't know why The Dark Knight would be different.

Note: not a knock on the movie. Movie was brilliant. Toys didn't thrill me.

meh.
looks like robocop with a batman head.
i just donot like the new suit design. i thought the keaton suit was great. (except the for the neck problem)

looks articulated, but not anywhere near joes or micromen. i can barely see an elbow join on his left arm. hard to tell if his shoulders are ball socket. i think they gave him just enough to sit in the tumbler.

We didn't see this when Star Wars figures were the only figures of this size that fans were obsessively gobbling up, so it may well have something to do with the popularity of the 25th anniversary Joes. . .that, and I'm sure that it's a heck of a lot cheaper to use 25%+ less plastic or so.

Its a panographed version of the 6" 4H Movie Masters Batman, which is fully articulated. At 6" scale the joints are clearly visible, when panographed to 3-3/4", not so much. So ball hips and shoulders, moving elbows, ankles, knees, ball joint neck, abcrunch, and waist as well as swiveling wrists, thigh and bicep swivels.
I was never impressed by any of the Batman Begins figures in this scale, and I don't know why The Dark Knight would be different.
Previous Batman Begins figures were in 5.5" scale. The one pictured is 3-3/4". There are 2 lines for the upcoming Dark Knight movie: The mainline 5.5" scale with a crap ton of Batman repaints, and a collectors 6" line sculpted by the 4H called Movie Masters. That line will encompass all the DC movie licenses that Mattel has though. So Michael Keaton Batman might be a go. Take a look at the 5.5" Joker compared to the 6" 4H Movie Master version, and you will see a world of difference.
and I'm sure that it's a heck of a lot cheaper to use 25%+ less plastic or so.
Also, its not just Mattel going this route. Unimax is already there with their FOV Bravo team, there is a big 1/18 scale military figure following, Unimax is releasing a line of historic warriors in 3-3/4", Mezco is making a 3-3/4" Hellboy box set, and also making a 3-3/4" Heroes line.

The 3-3/4" scale has been popular ever since Microman appeared in Japan during the 70's, and Kenner decided that the scale was perfect for their Star Wars line with figures and vehicles(it was originally set for 8" scale!). Ever since then, its been a successful scale in the industry. Its one we can truly say is timeless.

I'm looking at the 3-3/4" movie Batman pic. The 4H have a t-crotch sculpt they utilize where there is universal(ball joint) hip movement, without looking like a ball. When in neutral stance, it looks like a standard tcrotch, but can move from side to side like a ball jointed leg. So it preserves the look without breaking the sculpt yet retaining all around articulation.

say "No" to the word crotch, PERIOD!

It has a ranch-dressing/vagina-esque/cockaroach-y feel to it, like the word raunchy. Both are words that betray the sensiblities of the person using it.

Shame not more photos of the 3 3/3 Bat`s & damn would have loved to have seen more of the Tumbler too.Even with Bats in it.

So the Tumbler a playset or a scaled vehicle for the Bats?
Just some have refered to it as a playset.

So I saw this playset in Target the other day and thought it'd be great for a back drop

BOX (I took the Batman figure out, wish it came with the Joker figure though)
http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c260/Shogi88/Toy%20ID/PlaysetBox.png

Playset out of the box It has fold out handles
http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c260/Shogi88/Toy%20ID/PlaysetFolded.png

Playset set up as you can see the zip line doesn't work so well
http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c260/Shogi88/Toy%20ID/PlaysetXpanded.png

The good: It works great as a back drop and for mini dio scenes

The bad: Pretty much none of the features (Zip line, crane swing) work at all. The disc launcher is really hard to shoot too, it feels like you're gonna break it

There is another playset called the Bat Bunker and looks like a war room or something. It also comes with a Batman figure. Thus far I have only seen these two playsets at one Target near me

Now for the figure. Again, I wish the Joker lair came with a Joker figure (They have one shown on the back of the box, it looks like the Destructo case one only in 3 3/4" scale) This Batman looks like the same one talked about in the begining of this thread, but there is no "super articulation" on this figure:

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c260/Shogi88/Toy%20ID/Batmanfigure.png

He had a ball jointed head, The arms and hips are like vintage Star Wars and his knees bend. That's it! Being the articulation nazi I am, Bats may show up in the back ground of a dio, but he'll probably be left in a drawer (Especially if I pick up the other playset since that one comes with a Batman figure as well)

The good points are that this figure has a lot of detail and he's very compatable with 25th Joes

Man...I might pick up those playsets to use for the more articulated, yet in scale DC Infinite Heroes line...and my joes. Thanks for the pics Shogi, how much were those?

Shogi
05-26-2008, 02:07 PM
They're $14.99 (Comes out to $16 with tax out here) I also picked up the Bat Bunker:

Unfolded As you can see, the zip line doesn't work on this one either

I do hope the figures have great articulation, if not, shame on mattel, they think they will sell based only on the size scale, and proves they have no desire of reaching excelence.

So a few days ago I saw the Batmobile/Tumbler for the 3 3/4" scale. On the back of the packaging was the black version and the prototype desert camo version. Well I found the prototype version today!

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c260/Shogi88/Toy%20ID/BatmobileBatman.png

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c260/Shogi88/Toy%20ID/Batmobileleft.png

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c260/Shogi88/Toy%20ID/Batmobilerearright.png

As you can see, it's fairly basic, good amount of detail and...

Shogi
05-30-2008, 08:31 PM
...an opening hatch!

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c260/Shogi88/Toy%20ID/Batmobilecockpit.png

Batman fits in quite nicely. Also, since Batman is about the same size as 25th Joes....

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c260/Shogi88/Toy%20ID/BatmobileRBBat.png

...I decided to see if one of the biggest Joes (Roadblock) could fit into the Tumbler

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c260/Shogi88/Toy%20ID/BatmobileRBseat.png

He fits perfectly!

The only drawback to this $10 vehicle is the lack of features. I was hoping the fins on the back would move or something, perhaps a cannon pop up somewhere, but alas, it's just a vehicle with a door/hatch. For being just a vehicle though, it's pretty cool

Cool, I wanted the proto version and now that I can see Joe's fit, I may try to get a few, if I can find it. Plenty of black ones around though.

The playsets are ok, If I was to recommend one I'd say the Joker's Lair. There's a little playability in them but they seem to work better as backdrops for dio pics (Which is why I originally got them :) )

From what I know, the Joker is supposed to come out. But if there's really going to be 2 packs, there's probably a joker thug, but maybe a Comm. Gordon, or Rachel Dawes. hmmm?
