I know that some people don't search every thread out there, so I figured that I would post a link to a thread that I made about 3 weeks ago on this very subject...
http://www.hisstank.com/forum/toys/72897-3rd-version-movie-war-machine-found.html
Here is what wrote in the first post of my thread...
I don't know if this was posted before but I've found a third version of the Iron Man 2 movie War-Machine Figure.
We've already known about the running change from blue to red concerning the eyes and arc reactors, but in both cases the figures had white text and numbers printed on their bodies.
The one I've just found has blue eyes and a blue arc reactor, but it does not have any white text printed anywhere on him. Also he looks as if he has a "brushed metal" type of wash over him.
I saw 3 of these at a Walmart location and 1 which I bought from TRU.
I believe that this could have been the first version that Hasbro released based on the pre-production photo shown on the back of the package. Maybe Marvel sent Hasbro an early shot of War-Machine before the special effects coloring was added. Maybe at this point War-Machine was only shown to have white eyes, so Hasbro went with blue based on seeing what Iron Man and Iron Monger looked like in the first movie.
The same might be true as far as the missing text is concerned. Maybe the first image of War-Machine that was sent to Hasbro by Marvel didn't include the text and numbers on his body. Who knows?
In any case there are now 3 versions of this figure going around.
If someone sees a War-Machine with red eyes and a red arc reactor, but doesn't have text please let us know.
Oh by the way before someone posts the lame saying of "without pics this thread is useless" I just wanted to say that I'm at work right now so I can't take or post any pics.
So as it stands there are currently 3 versions of the #12 Movie version of War Machine.
If anyone finds another one please let us all know.

I believe you get a green repaint war machine and a hypervelocity armor in the K-Mart 3-pack with the Captain America armor.
The 3rd armor is actually a repaint of the Mark V that they're calling "Bio-metal". The figure has some translucent portions, but from most reports the plastic is so dark that it is difficult to tell outside of bright light.

K-Mart 3 Pack ACHIEVED!
The joints on all the figures are less stiff than the originals, no complaints there. They are easier to pose. But the Bio-Armor is a little stiff when it comes to articulation. But I got him in a pretty good pose ground-and-pounding my Wolverine.
Happiness. Its flooding all over me today. And some WIN.

The MK V Bio-metal is pretty cool. The only pieces not cast in the translucent orange are the lower legs [the chest piece is just heavily painted].
But yes, the K-Mart 3-pack is quite impressive. And the paint apps on mine are flawless.

I was confused by this because I read that the Blue was the variant. I wanted to keep it MoC so I went looking for a Red to open on Tuesday only to find five more Blue War Machines, and no red at all.
Based on the production dates on my war machines, total of 60, the blue version without writing came out first, then the blue with writing, then finally the red came out.

So the K-mart set is worth the $24.99 price tag? I'm on the fence about it ...

I think so. I mean, don't get me wrong 25 bucks for three straight-up repaints is a stretch but they're three great and clean repaints.
I wish it came with the stands found in the singles, that's the only real drawback I see. Especially given the price they could've added the stands.

I would have to say yes. First off at $7 3 figs are about right (just $3 more but then again K-Mark has been notoriously higher anyway so it does work out).
War Machine has some awesome paint, it really brings out the detail in the sculpt. I wasn't too keen on it from the orginal pics but he grew on me quickly.
Cap IM is AWESOME! The best IM put out to date, granted he is a repaint Mark IV, but that is a cool thing cause that has been my fav mold thus far. The Cap decon and extra Shield helps make this one a winner.
Cio Armor is definatly the weakest of the pack. But he is still pretty cool with his translucent parts and all. A definat oddity, but still very cool.
That is my assessment of the pack after having it a few days.

I dunno, for me it's Cap, Transparent, War Machine.
Love the Cap paintjob, the transparent Iron Man with NO lightup gimmick w.full articulation is nice... while the green War Machine looks good.. It's kind of odd to me. Could be he's next to Red Hulk so it screams "Christmas."

The Cap IM is the main reason I'll be buying the 3-pack when I see it. The transparent one is of no interest to me at all. Maybe once I see it in person I'll like it more, but right now its the one I'll be selling off after I get the pack. Green is one of my favorite colors so I love the WM repaint. I could be a little off on that though since I would also love an IM/WM repaint done in the classic Transformers G1 Devastator green and purple paintjob.

Iron Man 2 - 3" Figures Series 01 - Set of 5 - Iron Man 2 (2010 Movie) Figures (http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=HAS18399&mode=retail)
there was 5 figures released in this packaging. From what I can tell the war machine is basically that blue eyed no lettering "variant" but with a non lame firing gun thing. The drone I have not seen in any wave. BBTS has in stock now but the packaing looks weird and they are not much cheaper than the current ones at WM, Target and TRU
Anyone have them and know the articulation on them? I wouldnt mind having a few of the drones or that war machine cause i want that regular cannon for the movie version.
I saw those a Big Lots for either $3 or $5 each when I was looking for the Wave 11 GI Joes.

I guess we should talk about the 6" IM2 figures in this thread as well.
Twice now I've missed snatching up a 6" War Machine. Both times there were 3 6" Mark VI figures. I'm guessing that a case has 3 War Machines and 3 Mark VI figures. Also, the Mark VI seems to be missing red paint on the upper thighs and upper arms. What's up with that? Those areas are all gold colored instead of looking like the 3 3/4" paint scheme.

There was a rumor list (that I can't track down now, but was on Cool Toy Review which has been getting lots of info dead on lately) where the drones were listed right after Fury, Widow, ect in numbering implying that they are in the same wave or the one following in the movie waves.

The two single pack Mk VI figures are wrong. The 6" and the Hall of Armor Mk VI from Target are accurate. Speaking of that, did anyone see Jin Saotome's Mk VI with blue LED? Looked great! Why didn't Hasbro think of that?? (rhetorical question)

To farther clarify the 4-Inch/1:18 Scale line, The Hall of Armor has the correct paint application for the Mk. VI Movie version and is the same as the 6-Inch/1:12th Scale line.
The Single Card versions of the 4-Inch/1:18 Scale Mk. VI is incorrect.

and is there any word what's ahead for the comic figs? I know Hulkbuster and Gaurdsmen are coming next wave, right?

I did spot the Target exclusive figures. It is a nice presentation, but a little pricey. I am trying to figure out if the paint apps on the Hall of Armor figures are of a higher standard than the single carded. It seems my local Target did not have any regular single carded Mark VI, Mark IV, or any movie War Machines to compare to the HoA ones. I did notice that some of the heads are completely distorted and warped on some of the Mark VI and IV HoA figures.
Also, this is now the 3rd time I have spotted the 6" IM2 figures at Walmart, but all they had were 3 Mark VI figures. The pegs look strangely barren for the 6" line. I know some people have been finding the War Machine, but I wonder if the Mark VI figures came first in one case and the War Machine figures followed. Or, I could simply be arriving late and someone else is beating me to the punch on the War Machines.

From what I've seen the Hall of Armors were even sloppier, most of them had crooked eyes and arc reactors. The problem there may be that there are fewer to look through than on the pegs. I grabbed a Mark IV Hall of Armor with passable details, but the rest of the paint work was pretty loose, thin at parts and globby in others.
The upcoming Tony Stark headed MK IV is properly colored, but I don't know if he's got a swappable head or a big goofy helmet.
I see. Thanks.

Battle Damage? or poor Paint Apps?
The no-number, blue-arc is the earliest produced and seems to have had the lowest production number. The next had numbers, then they switched to red completely. No idea on battle damage though.

Are these worth the $13 tag? I've really debated about getting a WM at WM (ha ha), but I don't really collect 6 inchers and the price isn't quite right for me. But if you think it's worth it, I'll reconsider.

I just recieved IM2 Whiplash and Hulkbuster from a local seller here in the Philippines and thought that in terms of details... the 3.75 hulkbuster IMHO is by far one of the best figure i've seen on this set but not really scaled for the other 3 3/4 figures, i guess the ML hulkbuster is much better scaled on this one, just like the Iron Monger from the first movie line:D

I just received a carded blue AF numbered War Machine my brothere had picked up early on. I'm not a collector so it doesn't really mean that much to me, but I know some like those things. I'm not sure if I should throw it up in my BST or not. If going price for it is close to a newer one it seems kinda of silly to sell instead of ripping it open and using him for parts... Any suggestions.

Damn if it wasn't on the shelf, but the assistant manager was nice enough to go into the back and find two of them. One was perfect, the other was hit with the ugly QC stick so I got the perfect one. Found Hulkbuster in Mesquite on the way back at TRU. So now I have all of the new Comic IM2 wave (Guardsman, Hulkbuster, Ditko IM, Bulky IM, Titanium Man).

There's no firm release date on that wave yet. Probably sometime this summer, like around July or August. We haven't seen in-package samples yet.
I too, bought the Kmart 3 pk for the Iron Patriot figure:)
This actually looks better than the upcoming version IMHO.
The figure in the K-Mart three pack is not Iron Patriot. It's a "What If" armor that was worn by Steve Rogers as a memorial to Tony (who had died in that particular What If story).

Correct, Iron Patroit is coming a few waves down the road from the Marvel Universe 3 3/4, but should fit in just fine with the Iron Man line. Since Normie has pretty much been Tony's arch nemesis these past few years in the comics.

That's not the Nick Fury/Black Widow wave. Whiplash comes in multiple assortments. From what we're starting to see now, it looks like the next "movie" wave will include Whiplash, the Fusion Armor, and the two different versions of the Tactical Assault Drone. The Fury/Widow/Unmasked Tony and War Machine should be the wave after that.

I'm kinda curious why they didn't just insert the damn missile pack on the movie figure as an extra besides their silly spring gun no one past 8 probably uses. Half the promotional art (especially the ones around Burger King) have the missile pack on the shoulder. Heck, I would have been happy with a movie accurate mini-gun that can not only slip forward and back, but side to side across his back as it pivits on that one arm. That's damn cool in the ORACLE Sakura Garden fight scene.

I will try to hit my Kmart today to see if they are on sale. They had a bunch of the 3 packs last week, so if they are on sale I can pick up a set if somebody needs one. PM me before 12 noon CST.

I saw these the other day. While they look okay, I think it's funny that they are basically putting out almost every Iron Man design ever. I mean, unless you want a Hall of Armor, who needs 25 different versions of the same character?

Everyone's got their favorite suits. But they're really not even close to every Iron Man design ever. He's got a -ton- of those things.
Besides, when they get to Iron Man v. 50 or so then Joe fans can complain (We're on the verge of 53 Snake-Eyes and counting!). ;)

Personally I am loving it. I don't want every design, but there are tons of designs I am wanted that I am finally getting in 1:18th scale. Sides Hasbro has put out 50+ of Snake Eyes, Cobra Commander ect. but at least with IM he legitimetly has changed his outfit a megaton of times.

Yeah, Iron Man really is one of the very few characters that can be easily justified as having not only multiple "basic" versions but a ton of "specialty" versions as well. "Scuba Iron Man" and "Space Iron Man" actually make sense because well...he's made 'em...usually even multiple versions of them.

I've really enjoyed this line. I'd like to get the 'Vibranium Armor' from the KMart pack... but can't justify the $25 to get just one fig that I want.
I've got my own little Hall of Armor on my shelf at work. Pretty much just the movie suits... I like them more than the comic suits. Though I did just add a HulkBuster to the back row. Good fig... but the bulk limits his articulation.
Now... the 6" WM exclusive War Machine... now THAT is an awesome fig. Good weight... much better plastic than the figs from the first movie... excelent articulation... multiple hands... just an awesome fig!

I have been thinking about the 20% off coupons at burger king and unless you were planning on eating there anyways if you do the math you pay roughly $3.50 for the kids meal you need to spend $17.50 at K-mart to get the money back to cover the kids meal. A little off topic i know.
BTW has anyone picked up the ironman F1 car? I am thinking about picking it up and using a matt tracker as a base for a custom Tony Stark Driver fig.

I'm not disappointed in that there's new stuff out(not that I've found it) but I'm eager for the actor figures too. Doesn't right this very moment like the best time to get them out? I wonder if likeness approval caused their later arrival. I mostly want them out soon since sometimes film lines don't last too long before cancellation or evolution into a more general theme. Don't want these to be tough to find like some of the later Indy or Wolverine figures.

The problem with all of this is Hasbro decided that WAVE ONE of the movie figures was figures from the first Iron man movie. We had:
Mark I
Mark II
Mark III
and Iron Monger
along with the "concept" figures of Power Assault, Hypervelocity, and Deep Dive IM.
WAVE TWO didn't show up in most places but only a few days before the March 1st release date of the figures. It contained:
Mark IV
Mark V
Mark VI
Mark VI (light-up)
and War Machine
along with the "concept" figure of Inferno Mission IM.
The movie was released here in the United States on May 7, 2010 and other places earlier. Today is May 12, 2010. The majority of the United States has not received anymore movie waves past what has been listed.
WAVE THREE Only includes one movie figure:
Whiplash
along with one "concept" figure of Fusion Armor IM.
Neither spoil the movie and I think it is complete BS that Hasbro did not push them into the previous wave instead of wasting a wave on 2 figures. That is stuff you do at the end of a line.
I was once told years ago that sometimes people fromthe toy companies like to snoop and get input and they sometimes will take a peek at our comments on toy forums...but Hasbro surely doesn't visit this site as they would know that we need villians...plain and simple. And Whiplash is a figure kids do want because I have been in stores where a kid not in the know was asking his parents to help him find a Whiplash figure.
I truly hope I don't have a hard time finding Whiplash or any of the later figures if they ever get made.
If I do have a hard time though...that will be my determining factor on whether I end my collecting of 3 3/4" movie figures when Thor and Captain America come out.

I don't think you'll get a "Modern" Iron Man in this line. I noticed Hasbro Toy Shop has the Ditko horned mask version listed as "Modern Armor" so I'm wondering if an Extremis/Tin Man styled armor was scrapped in development either because of its inclusion in Marvel Universe OR for being too similar to the movie suit.

I truly hope I don't have a hard time finding Whiplash or any of the later figures if they ever get made.
On the other hand....toylines like Spider-Man have thrived for YEARS following that exact business model. On average, a given Spider-Man wave will have one new villian, with only 2-3 slots on average being alloted per case to villians. And Spider-Man has been an action figure staple for almost 10 years.
And here is something else to consider...back when Iron Man 1 came out, by the time the DVD hit, the line was dominated by two/three pegwarmers: Iron Monger and to a lesser extent, Titanium Man. Despite only shipping one per case, these characters CLOGGED pegs by end of that push.
All said, we've got 3 villians available (Iron Monger, Crimson Dynamo, and now Whiplash), with another one (Titanium Man) due. Most kids will probably end up with a War machine, 3-5 Iron Man, and maybe a villian or two, so what Hasbro is marketing is adequate from the mass market angle.
And don't forget the line is basically compatible with Marvel Universe and Spider-Man, so there is potential to "swipe" from those lines from a consumer standpoint (keep in mind that the Extremis model and Iron Patriot are both out/due in the next few months in Marvel Universe)

thats a shame, they look great here and that shield has straps!!! i may pick up another and id trade for joe stuff, whatchya got?
That gives me hope then. Maybe my store got a bad case or something. One of the Cap Ironmen had half of his right shoulder plate missing. Another had scratches all over his chest plate, and the paint on the arc reactor was missing. The other two had dents in the head. It was really annoying.

Try to not buy out the area before I find some. ;) I'm going for 3 of each model since I have 3 Guardsmen. If they make Whiplash's armor suit (hell, it's in commercials now), then he'll have a dozen drones to lead. :D
