Ok people here we go?
WHY?! Why! Why...do we need size adjustments on our action figures we didn't need the stupid 2" joes from sigma six. They are still at all the stores taking up space. Please stop with the foolish attempt on reinventing the action figure market and just keep it at a certain height!!! We don't need little army joes! We need cool ideas at the 3 3/4" size the sigma six line would have done much better. I would like to have bought all the vehicles but they where worthless to me. Yeah, yeah I can customize but who has the time and besides the only worthwhile vehicle to customize would have been the Dragonhawk. It a shmae really and a waste of good plastic! Think straight you office morons at HASBRO! MY TWO AND HALF CENTS WORTH.

See, I disagree. Although I would've loved to see the items released in 3.75" scale, I agree with blue that the 2.5" line could've worked if marketed properly.
What killed the line? The figures. Simply put. Apacolypse can preach to the gospel on this one. His son completely shunned the line, and his son is a HUGE G.I.Joe fan. Now, if a kid is turning his nose up at it, what do you think collectors would do?
If you think the line failed, look at all the threads across the fandom of modified 2.5" vehicles. "We" obviously liked the molds...so what happened?
I say this: If the 2.5" line came with, let's say, figures that were the same size as:
M.A.S.K.
Air Raiders
Star Command
etc.
Then you would've had a hit. Lord knows I would've bought one of everything.

I have to agree with Flash. The 2 1/2" figures didn't look that great and I didn't care for the 8" figures either. The vehicles on the other hand are cool and if they would have fit 3 3/4" figures I would have bought some.
I don't think it was marketing that killed the 2 1/2" figures but the fact that the 8" figures where a better alternative and had a lot more playability than the smaller ones. I'm not sure of the price of the 2 1/2" packs but they had to be around $5, right? If so wouldn't a $10 8" Sigma Six figure look a lot cooler than three or four 2 1/2" figures? That's the way I see it anyway.

I will tell you want happen people accept whatever they can get because we are starved for something new. The line would have been som much better if it was the rise of the robots line they were going to do...they meaning Hasbro. I am glad all the fans are customizing the vehicles but it would be so much better if they think about things a little bit and really work on bringing this fun hobby to a new golden age.
again, my two cents.
'Nuff said ...new thread on something tomorrow...this is good we are discusssing and bringing are ideas out on the table lets keep it up.

Me, personally.. I did'nt mind the 2.5 inch line that much.. the hiss tank, and the vamp are my favorites, I just wish the 2.5 inch figures were made better and could actually hold weapons instead of them being molded into there hands. Yeah.. not much playability, I agree there, but good for display. :)

Yes, my 6 year old shunned the 2.5" line. He was excited...but you get two figures with a vehicle...only ONE actually works with it. And without the vehicle....that figure is worthless, as they are stuck in that pose.
As for Hasbro's ideas that kids will mesh the 8" and 2.5" together...WRONG. What kid goes from one scale to another when playing? Only thing my son wants to be out of scale with his figures...is Monsters, like Godzilla - that should hover over the figures.
As for the vehicles...I liked them. I found that it is fairly simple and easy to modify them for 3.75" scale - just the seating is out of scale really. The dragonhawk is larger than the tomahawk - so technically it is "in-scale". Also the drop cage I modified - I find it holds a RAM cycle very nicely.
I also modified the Vamp, the mech (forget name), and the Cobra Jet (forget name) all for 3.75" compatibility.

Yeah, I definetely agree there. I absolutely hate that most of the figs are stuck in a certain pose, and the 2.5 army building packs (a joke), like the bats are stuck in this diamond or crystal looking thing, and there arms are stuck in a pose, you can't even move there arms atleast. I never bought a single one. Only the vehicles I bought. :)
