My take on Scoop. Basically the same as the 89 version but I tweeked his load plan on his vest. The original had bino's and just a bunch of crap that was there for the sake of being there.
His left hand had this weird cell phone looking thing on his wrist that looked dumb. I also ditched the side arm and handgun on his left boot.

I put a digital camera on his vest, as well as pouches that he can hold whatever it is reporters carry. I tried to keep the integrity of the character intact while at the same time making him more practical to todays modern battlefield.
I took his weapons away because he's a Journalist and therefore a C.O.B. (Civillian on the Battlefield) he's a non-combatant and off limits to enemy attacks. The moment Scoop weilds a weapon of any kind he becomes fair game.
That being said I gave him a huge ruck sack so he can store his lab top, extra cameras, bandoleer of magazines and UZI. I figured it'd be OK for him to pack heat just so long as it's concealed. He's a Joe and that means he's a Rifleman before all else.
