Greetings tankers. As the two biggest lovers of slaughterhouse customs, Gyre-Viper and myself have decided to sponsor a contest. The idea is to create a custom figure/s in the slaughterhouse customs style. If you are unfamilar with the style then follow the links for some pure win. The rules are simple.

1:Must include some easy to identify joe parts

2:Have fun, you either get this or you don't

3:Painting and customizing must be done in the slaughterhouse style. It can be a new or a pre-existing character.
-or-
A 'serious' custom of a previously done slaughterhouse custom.

4:Photographic composition counts. You can take a photo of your custom on a plain background, but you will get bonus points for a setting/diorama fitting to the figure, bonus points also for taking a 'fun' custom and putting it into a serious setting.

5:Have fun

6:One month should be plenty of time, so all entries are due by Sept.18. Winners will be announced when we figure it out.

Bonus points for custom cards as well.

Gyre-Viper and I will judge the entires and choose a winner. The grand prize is a SDCC Destro set, a loose blue wraith, or loose 25th Outback winners choice. If there is enough entries a second place will get the remaining prize. I will also offer up some random bits from my bitz bin.

*Update* Gyre has added an awesome extra prize. City Strike Snake Eyes on card. Exactly how to win this prize is as mysterious as Snake Eyes favorite pizza topping. Good luck.

In order to do this, some things would have to be changed from most of the original pieces, will you allow the "serious" entrants room for creativity and do it their way ? By that I mean change some color shades/tones & painting styles.

And will you allow 2 categories eligible to win ?...
1) Slaughterhouse Style.
2) Slaughterhouse Reborn.

Everyone is allowed to enter, and I'll say enter up to five times. If you make multiple figures, make it clear if they are grouped as one entry or as multiple individual entries.

As to the 2 styles. Depends on the number of entries. If we get at least 3 of each category then we will have a first place in each category. With the SDCC Destro set going to the Slaughterhouse style and the 2 loose figures to the slaughterhouse reborn champion.

if you look carefully in my signature you'll see a blood soaked kit bash
attacking shipwreck. that kit bash is a slaughterhouse-style custom
by Ocab27. he made it ages ago for me so itz not his entry... but i just wanted to give one example of someone else doing a slaughter-house style custom.

To be honest, slaughterhouses (though the ebay auctions describe themseles as a team not a single individual) has updated their styles some it would seem. So I don't know if they can even compete with themseles now. Sorta like can god make a rock so big he can't move it.

Ok well since an entry from me would not count... I thought I'd just do one for fun. This is my first custom ever. Seems fitting no? So what I did was set some ground rules for myself. I could not use anything that was not
in my kitchen (as you know my joes are always in my kitchen, hence the stove top dioramas etc). And the only thing I could buy was paint. (hey... I need paint to do this...no?). Also... with the exception of glue drying, the entire process could not take more than an hour... ie. finding pieces, painting, etc. So in all it took me about 22 minutes to decide on pieces to use, arrange them etc. and about 10 minutes to paint (if you can believe it...hehehheheh). Anyways... don't expect much since I put such restricting...uh... restrictions on myself. I'm uploading pics now...
so here is my entry... itz a Slaughterhouse Look-Alike PROTOTYPE (hehehehe bet you didn't see that comin')... that's right WHAAOAOAOAOAOAOAOA
it's a prototype of a slaughterhouse look alike... you can tell itz a genuine
prototype cuz itz not painted!!!!! er... well... itz been painted to look like itz not been painted... okay well no ... well that was the idea... but conforming to the slaughterhouse look i had to... well... you know... paint it.... HAHAHAHAHA. this is fun. I even threw in a real prototype of the same figure .... see if you can guess which one is a Hasbro prototype and which one is a slaughterhouse look-alike prototype... ;)

wow.... slightly obscene.... but very... cool? If you painted it up in all gloss black you could probably sell it on e-bay as an H.R.Giger original. Nice, makes me glad you can't enter your own contest! :)

i decided not to do a 'serious' entry. i just wanted to glue stuff together
and make fun of myself... somewhere between my prototype pic heavy posts and my slaughterhouse pic heavy posts. heheheheheh.

OK, I went at this contest from a scientific standpoint. I studied the photos of Slaughterhouse's previous works to look for the things that make Slaughterhouse... Slaughterhouse.

First: it's gotta be a theme. He's done Tiger Force. He did Python Patrol. So it has to be a sub-line of GI Joe. I racked my brain trying to come up with something good to use... he used the two best already. Night Force? Nah, all black. BattleForce2K? Maybe, the possibilities were there... and then it hit me. Eco-Warriors!

Second: When I look at the Slaughterhouse figures, the one word that I keep returning to in my descriptions was "Extreme!". When I think of Extreme! I think of Rob Liefeld. When I think of Rob Liefeld, I think of characters with tiny or non-existant feet, female models with body proportions that defy propability, and big ass guns. Outside of the guns, none of those really translates well into figure form. And then it hit me... the other thing that I think of when I think of Rob Liefeld is pouches!

So... here is my Slaughterhouse homage Extreme Eco-Warriors Firefly with mega pouches!! He also has not one... not two... not even three or four... but FIVE SWORDS on his back. Does it get more Extreme! than that??!?!

So there I was, in my little home studio, working on some "real" work (commission pieces) today... but my mind just kept slipping away from what I was doing, and I kept asking myself... "Self, how can I up my game for this Slaughterhouse contest??"

Well, about the only thing I could think of was to create my OWN team of Joes, and a villain or two to go against them... and then to create a photo novel story.

I don't know if it was just too much glue being sniffed or what, but here's what I came up with. I should point out that I'm not really sure if these even qualify, because I was a little... lazy and tired, and just put these pieces together from my fodder bins, and didn't add ANY paint to them.

Little is nown about Cobra kiler other than he is kamakura's older younger brother. He use to live with him until he joined a gang where he then beat people up for money and fun. Kamakura got pissed and said"stop right there you Cobra!". Cobra killer diddn't know that the gang he beat people up in was associated with Cobra. He decided he could kill people easier being a terrorist so he stayed in CoBRa. Kamakura fought him vigorously until battle was over.

As to star wars geeks last 5 customs. This is a FUN contest, so I'm rather hesitant to disqualify any entry. The construction is most definetly in the spirit of the contest. However a coat or two or 300 of paint would definetly add more of the 'slaughterhouse charm' to them. Personally I'd say you created a custom team, so show us a custom scheme.

man, the only paint colors i have a earth tones, an greys.. i do have some teal, red, black, an a custom mix i made out of black an lavender all in gloss that came with a air brush set i got from testors. but i do not have any class of 87 colors.. i actually would of entered out of fun if i did.

man, the only paint colors i have a earth tones, an greys.. i do have some teal, red, black, an a custom mix i made out of black an lavender all in gloss that came with a air brush set i got from testors. but i do not have any class of 87 colors.. i actually would of entered out of fun if i did.

hey man... it would stand out... who knows

Mettal fist was once a rock star ultil DR. MINBENDER! rebuilt him as something evil! He gave him a super strong metal fist sop he can punch through tanks and walls. Because his fist is too big to hold any guns he put a gun attached to his head so he can still shoot in fact its better because now he just has to look in order to aim and kill.
