It sounds like Big Boa actually came about BECAUSE the Rocky figure fell through. So yeah, sounds like timeline was different than what we originally thought.

cool!

Just gonna say it, the foriegn Joes, especially the argen7 figs, are super kick ass! Way better than the crimson vipers, although the vipers turned out pretty good too. I'm poor now, but happy i got them all. Now debating if i should get that crimson guard, head looks alittle off, but seeing them drop off the building was awesome, i wasn't in range to grab one, although had I, I probably would have gave it to a kid, but now i kinda want one... lol.

Sounds like some cool stuff coming our way. I'm particularly horny for that mail-away Cobra Commander. I hope it's as cool as it sounds.

EDIT: Just saw the cardback on another sight. I was hoping for the classic look but instead it's the ROC design. The cardback is cool, but I'm still not a fan of the ROC Commander.

I'm starting to think that they are going to stay away from "big" characters like Stalker, Flint, Dreadnoks, etc. in the movie line until they figure out what they are doing with them in future movies.

I hope they can mix in "lesser" unique characters into the movie line, instead of rehashing the same characters in each wave.

Right. They need to save some big names for the next movies.

Although, Stalker appears in the video game, so chances are we'll see him as a figure.

Poor Breaker. I didn't see him listed in the new figures. He only gets one figure?

Can someone ask to see if they can do anything to make the filecards worth keeping. Like add a birthplace maybe.

Also can someone get Hasbro to explain why it's necessary to have these ridiculous missle launchers? They ain't free to make so prices must be higher because of them.

Vehicles look like they might be fun (except for a repaint of a repaint in the Armored Panther), but as always I'll be more interested in the drivers. Stupid display/storage space constraints.

Beachhead doesn't look bad, but I tend to be strangely accepting of different versions of my favorite Joe. Probably because I already have two definitive versions.

-New HISS Tank coming in Bravo wave 2 in 2010, it will feature moving treads!

I'm curious about the price, but if it's like the Resolute tank this could be an epic win.

As for the cycle-armor, I'm stoked. I'm thinking something like...

I suppose that could be its fate between movies until they introduce more characters for the sequel (if/when it gets put into production), but in the meantime, that''s gonna be a hell of a lot of each character to browse through on the pegs. The fact that the second Echo vehicle is going to be a repaint of the first one can't exactly be thrilling for those who enjoy the vehicles.

NEITHER of the alley vipers available (on ebay and taobao) have shield

The other thought is that they're leaving "slots" open for other things. Maybe the move to two lines?

It does seem odd, with the first RoC offerings being alot of non-movie characters, that the 2nd round of offerings are just lots of the movie characters.

Just no more Breaker. Hasbro has no love for Breaker?

Sarge
08-14-2009, 04:58 PM
First off, I loved the movie. I bought every figure. I am not too pleased with the direction they are taking this line now though. I would buy movie versions of most of the classic characters as long as I was offered something fresh. The Beachhead is the perfect example of what I am talking about. Recycling the same 10 characters is going to do nothing but leave pegs full and kill the line. I could be wrong and kids buy them, but I am not sure about that.

I am happy about some of the items. Beachhead, Reso SE, Snowcat and will pick them up for sure but this panel has deflated my toy hopes and outlook.

I was wondering about this, myself. Maybe they're banking on the recognition factor from the movie and people (kids) wanting multiple versions of the same character that's their favorite. I dunno, for me the sheer variety of characters is what drew me in as a kid. We'll see I guess.

Even with the seeming lack of character variety, at least there's some nice stuff being shown, even for me (and I tend towards the ARAH / Resolute stuff). I could care less about the RoC packaging since I open practically everything I buy. Some nicer file cards would be appreciated though ;)

That HISS tank is looking nice, and addresses my age-old complaint about the ARAH HISS not having real treads =D

there's a good chance this ends up NOT being called Alley Viper

yeah your probably right, also since they gave him a cobra logo on his head, thats another reason they might not include the helmet. if half of the protos have them though atleast thats somewhat of a sign, i can live without the shield but the helmet is important, even though he still looks good without the helmet, a alley viper without one just doesnt sit right with me.

Yeah. Thats what i'm waiting for as well. This new Hiss tank better hold more than 2 figures! If not then i'm not buying it! These things are 25 dollars each. I have the opportunity to go to the Con on Saturday. I live 3.5 hours 1-way from KC and don't mind driving. The trip would cost me ~$60 in gas + $20 fast food + $12 general admission. Plus whatever I would spend there, but I'm not looking for much right now, so might not be a lot.

can't really get a feel for the new HISS ~ not sold on what i see, but keeping an open mind till we get a better look (tomorrow maybe?)

I'm surprised they are showing this much '10 product!

the Ice Cutter and HISS sentry's are redonkulous. Ice cutter looks like something from the crappy tail end of ARAH. Repainting the Night Raven is kinda "meh" too.

but, ok, the Cycle, though, while obviously not being terribly realistic, looks AWESOME to this guy who's a Transfan first! say it with me now, GIJoe/Transformer Crossovers, Hasbro. you can do it. I could easily see buying 3/4 of these if they are as good as they look in the blurrycam shot!!!!

I think they really sold the 25th fans short on these ~ this isn't the same as those lame DTC wave 4/5/Whatever figs they did where they came out a year into the 25th line. I bet they could have moved 1500/2500 of these international sets easy. I'd have been all over them if they'd had them up on their site. A lot of fans for whom the movie toys aren't floating their boat have got cash to burn.

kind of a bummer the "set" we could all order was so lame and the attendee exclusives are so awesome.

If that's all it would cost, then I'd surely have gone. Just being there to see all the fans, and all the toys would be well worth it. Plus, you can get that warm fuzzy feeling inside when you help your fellow 'Tankers and pick up some of the Con Exclusives for us. :)

the Ice Cutter and HISS sentry's are redonkulous. The Ice Cutter doesn't strike me, but I think the HISS sentry can attach to the HISS, and if so, I'll get it.

As far as the new Bravo HISS...not a very flattering image...waiting to see more.

The new hiss looks pretty cool to me. Moving treds will be a big draw I think.

When I heard "Ice cutter, with snow serpent officer" For some reason I thought of a ship to break though ice.. Like... a boat. lol This is a chainsaw weilding tank. Not bad looking though. Looks alot better than some joe toys.

The Night raven repaint? Eh...... this tells me Night Ravens will be dissapearing from shelves soonish.. means I need to buckel down. Forgo figs for a few weeks and grab a Raven before they're gone.

The snow cat is just as cool now as it was when we were kids. Wish it came with moving tracks too. I like the new paint job.

Might pass on the Fury... I mean.. it's neat and all but... .unsure.

The Armored Panther with Outback.... kinda makes me cry.
I won an Ebay auction for this the other day. But with "Night force" outback and the Brown Armored Panther from the first movie wave. I -did- pay $15 for it total.

Seeing it ((blurry as heck)) here... well. I'm not going to lie. Outback was my Fave joe... and I'll buy him again here and just have two out backs and two Armadillos. I like the camo one in the pic more than the brown one I'm getting.

I love the Cyclone bike. Will begetting one of those too.

The attack scout..... eh I don't think that's a flattering shot. But as of now, Pass.

movie Vamp/Hummer

so, instead of continuing with movie toys or going back to vintage or a line that combines both, they are making a brand new extremely futuristic toyline using actor likenesses that really has no connection to anything that came before it, including the movie, besides the use of the characters? hmm, will be interesting to see how that turns out.

oh, and the treads look great, but i am not sold on that new Hiss at all after seeing the pix. I don't know why they keep trying to re-invent the wheel with it. I want a original ~ styled HISS, bigger, with moving treads, a cockpit styled more like the HISS II, Bigger more intimidating Cannons (that could even include non-intusive launchers) and a improved troop-carrying ability of the HISS II. Maybe add some extra railings and stowage like the recent Arctic HISS...

Artic duke looks pretty good.

Snow job with the Barret .50 cal sniper rifle is awesome! That's how he should be!

Snow Destro llooks a bit gimpy

Elite ice viper looks to be the ice viper I got today with a better head on it and slight repaint. Mark me down for 2 to 4 of those. I love the Ice vipers I got today, all except their heads. This will fix that.

Desert Battle Zartan... Oh look. RAPTOR IS BACK! LOLOLOLOL!!!! And just think he was popping up on that worst joe ever thread. I'll get one just to laugh at him! Rock on.

Desert battle ripcord seems to come with what... appears to be a kick ass jet pack.. .but I could be wrong.

Jungle viper seems to have metal wings.... strange...I like the look. Maybe not under "jungle viper" but ... againn... lol Raptor!!

I like what I've seen. They're kinda doing with this what they did with Simga 6.

Duke,Snake eyes, Storm shadow, in different versions, Jungle, city, snow, with a few others tossed in here and there. It's not a new marketing ploy for Hasbro or even GI Joe.

I like the figures I've seen. Very few I didin't like.

Well i understand what people are saying about why no more movie figures but really there isn't many more to make. Yes scarlet on bike, breakerw/armor, that is about it. I like the fact that they are going for this chasing cobra all over the world with these sub groups(desert, snow, jungle, city) I think the figures look amazing for the most part.I mean i never was in to recondo much as a kid but that new fig is just all sorts of awesome! I like the sprinkling of old character done new. Can't wait to see dusty.I mean this is only about 15 of the 45 new ones for the year right? So we could easily see many more older characters done roc style. I for one have no problem moving on from the 25th guys now. I just feel hasbro is making some really sweet updates. Not all of them are gonna be winners but i'd say 80% or more are. Just my 2 cents.

I'm liking the HISS.

Arctic Duke looks very cool.

Snow Job is bad ass. I love the update to the skis.

Arctic Destro is pretty cool looking. I'm liking it.

Elite Ice-Viper.. doesn't look that different from the Ice-Viper. May have to change my plans since I was going to use the Ice-Viper as a solo character.

Jungle Assault Storm Shadow.. WOW!!! That could turn out to be my favorite Storm Shadow of all.

Desert Assault Zartan looks very cool. I like how it's got the hood and gives a less sci-fi take on his very sci-fi original look.

Desert Battle Ripcord looks pretty sweet.

Arctic Threat SE and Jungle Assault Duke.. the art is nice, can't wait to see the figures.

Jungle Assault CC looks more like a cross between the RoC and classic.

Jungle Viper.. WOW!! I hope the figure is that cool looking. Has an almost Vulture-like appearance.

Recondo looks awesome.

City Strike Scarlett... interesting... have to wait and see the figure.

City Strike Firefly... not liking it... The helmet looks non-Firefly and too weird. Might make a good RoC Wraith.

Desert Assault Heavy Duty.. hhhmm.. have to wait and see the figure.

I know alot of people aren't liking the Ice Cutter but I do. I don't know why, but I like it. I'm not fond of the gun on top, looks too loose and not connected well.

HISS Attack Scout.. uh.. what the hell is that supposed to be? Reminds me of those horrible VvV small vehicles with the huge oversized guns on 'em.

Cycle Armor and Ashiko... pass (well depends on how Ashiko looks). I don't/won't mix Transformers and Joe so the bike would never transform for me.

If they did a seperate line of Joe/TFormers like the Star Wars, those I would be interested in; but not a transforming bike that's supposed to be part of the line.

Love the paintjob on the Jungle Armored Panther. Is Outback the exact same from the 7-pack?

Cobra Fury.. not sure about yet, might be a pass..

Snowcat with White-Out.. GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME!!!

I like the colors on the Night Ra... Sand Serpant. But the first was a pass, this probably will be too.

Liking the mail away CC. Love the card art. The mask is very snake skull like.

The new direction does seem odd.

I like the idea of making the different environment themes. That's cool.

Don't like that they're reusing the same characters. It makes sense for a movie line becuase those were the main characters in the movie but..

I still think there's something they haven't told us yet. I'm waiting for the drop on the cartoon, 2nd line, Resolute, something..

There's something that they haven't revealed yet. Just call it a feeling.

I can understand putting Duke, Ripcord, etc.. at least one in every environment. To the new fans, from the movie, those are the Names.

We all know who Recondo is, the new fans don't. So the Dukes/Ripcords/etc.. are the "hook" to get the fans into that environment and then they round out the rest with the "unknowns".

Pepsi Jedi
08-14-2009, 06:38 PM
They did the same thing with Sigma 6.

you're GOING To get a Duke and Snake Eyes and Storm shadow for pretty much all of them. I think at one point, like 23% of sigmas were different dukes. lol

Kids "want to be duke or Snake eyes" First and foremost and they want to fight Storm Shadow.

As much as we may hate to say it, collectors still make up like 2% of the overall sales, if that. They're going to gear the line for the kids.

I'd like to see others. I'd love a hit and run instead of Jungle duke,, or a Stalker.... but kids want to be Duke, SE, "and their buddies" but Duke and snake eyes first.. .so.... .we get a bunch of them.

This panel is 2/3 disappointing. A bunch of variants of characters that everyone already has too many of. While there are some cool things, most of the cool looking ones are only art and they don't show the actual figure. Very disappointing.

The coolest things I see that have real photos are the Zartan (That's just badass) and the Cycle Armor (freaking Mospeada/Robotech stuff! Yay!). Design wise, I'm digging the Jungle Viper and City Scarlet. Aside from those, nothing is wow are interesting.

Also, where's the rest of the movie variants? There's a lot left they can do with the top of my list being Jinx.

yeah, it seems to me they should be dropping 2-3 movie guys and 2-3 new characters per environment (like the Recondo) aren't there something like 400 ARAH joe characters? seems like you could find enough obscure ones to mix in that wouldn't hamstring you for movie 2 instead of releasing SO MANY versions of the core characters.

I'd love a hit and run instead of Jungle duke,, or a Stalker.... but kids want to be Duke, SE, "and their buddies" but Duke and snake eyes first.. .so.... .we get a bunch of them.
and yet, there are still S6 Dukes at my TrU ;-)

the actual toy of that jungle Viper with the crazy wings looks pretty epic. He does look Night-Viper-ish.

It's very "not Joe" but Hot Damn is the toy of the transforming bike AWESOME. i hope other figs are compatible.

The Ripcord with tiny wings is really dorky.

yah know, with the somewhat Anime-esque qualities of several of these figs, i am starting to think you boys suggesting a new animated series are on to something. a lot of these figs have a specific aesthetic that is really different then the movie...

I think the coolest thing are the highly detailed well painted accessories - especially backpacks. Sharp details, paint-aps, and play-features make Joe more playable - even if its just improving such a small thing like play-able backpacks.

Now that I've seen the pics, I gotta say, I'm totally stoked for the new Joe. This is what RoC should have looked like. This is what GI Joe looks like.

I love the new outfits, the new figures, LOVE the accessories, and I love the vehicles. This just looks like Joe! I love the updated Zartan too, he's a perfect example of an old, cheesy look updated but with his integrity intact. That's Zartan!!!

Anyhow, enough gushing. I still hate that rather than simply being a cloth-masked everyman, Cobra Commander is now a crazed demonic-looking skull-face wearing character. How generic is that?! Bring back the rag-head. I miss him.

But yeah, the variety, the color, and the overall look of the new toys to me screams tie-in. Can't wait to hear the new show announced!!!

Sharp details, paint-aps, and play-features make Joe more playable - even if its just improving a small thing like play-able backpacks. Agreed. I think the accessories and new backpacks on these figures are incredible. Jungle Assault Duke is great, I wouldn't put it past Hasbro for them to make a Tunnel Rat out of that awesome figure. Recondo looks like he might have parts out of the Duke movie prequel. Jungle Assault Storm Shadow looks weird without a painted torso, why? His torso looks like it has sculpted folds and wrinkles, not muscles! Looks like I'll bust out the white acrylic paint for that one.

I predicted that I would like the "offscreen" figures more than the onscreen versions, and judging by what we've seen, it turns out I'm right.

Definitely dig the new Ripcord, Zartan, Jungle Viper(HOLY GOD!), and the Jungle Cobra Commander isn't too bad.

Anyone notice that Jungle Storm Shadow's glider backpack will probably be reused for a more show accurate Resolute Snake Eyes(in orange with no Cobra symbol)?

Never have I seen such a laughably bad group of figures. The 2010 stuff, like most of the Rise of Cobra merchandise, has zero appeal to me. And the mail-away for next year? Red Cobra Commander? Are they joking? Having Doc as a mail-away made sense as people(like myself) bought more 25th 2 packs to get him, but I can't understand how a red Cobra Commander would encourage extra product sales at all.

Hasbro knows that all they have to do is dangle a few vintage style figures and you will come running back with you wallet wide open, so your being angry simply doesn't matter if they aren't targeting you with these toys. if they succeed, Hasbro can forget all about you. if not and they have to rely on the vintage stuff, they know how easy it is to get you back.

think of it like this, all you are is Hasbro's booty call.

thats why S6 died no one wanted to buy all those dif dukes. also the size and price. im sorry but you cant keep reuseing duke,cc,se&SS in very other wave it dosent work and they become peg warmers. then they clog up the shelves so stores wont order more. nice job hasblow.
