does anyone else use their PS3 as their main internet connection?...it is awesome!...
i got one for christmas from my wife not knowing it has this capability and let me tell you, it totally rocks....mostly...
a couple weeks ago the wife and i bought a new 50" panasonic plasma...surfing the web, and posting on the tank has never been cooler...
sitting on the couch, bluetooth keyboard, PS3 controller/mouse...it doesn't get better...

i miss windows though...and the ability to copy and paste

the PS3 is a "computer", a bluray player, and a game system all in one...i know the cost seems steep at first, but at around $400 alone for a bluray player, the PS3 combo is a screaming deal...

funny thing, i just wanted it to be able to play the new GTA when it comes out...

very cool can you send me a pm on how to hook up the keyboard to web browse. i have the same hook up but beware!!!! my ps3 is hooked up to my panasonic plasma, and i have 3 x box 360 around the house on lcds all 1080 p. THAT DAMN PLASMA IS AWESOME BUT SUPER SENSITIVE EASILY RUINED. you can't watch cable t .v. with a plasma all you can pretty much do is watch movies. if you leave any image for over 5 mins on the plasma it will burn that image on to the t.v. permanently!!!! that goes for being on a hiss tank page for mo0re than a couple mins or watching cable with that lil hbo insignia constantly on the bottom will burn your shit out...

just got devil my cry awesome/ my handle stonewoe and grimlockskull

have you actually "burnt" anything onto your screen?...we have had ours for about three weeks now and haven't had any problems, plus my buddy(literally) who sold it too me said that unless you leave it on for an abnormally long time that burn in isn't a problem...

i'm not sure what you mean by hooking up the keyboard to web browse...i have the ps3 one and it's wireless...i had to go to settings and make my ps3 recognize it, but thats really all there was to it...and unless i'm typing, the controller is actually easier to use...

It's like Hisstank.com: The Movie.

And I especially like the flash 'ping' effect on the screen.

the PS3 is great. as soon as I ge the nerve to learn how to partition its hard drive, I am going to install Linux on it so I can run my NES and Genesis emulators and make it an old school gaming machine as well.

Newer models aren't nearly as bad about this as older ones, but you know those bars you get on either side of the widescreen television when you're watching something broadcast in a 4:3 aspect? Those bars burned into the screen of my pal's TV, and it's really annoying trying to watch anything on it.

Personally, I prefer LCD to plasma, but that's just me. They're both great. I haven't picked up a PS3 yet, but I'll get one in the fall. I almost bought one a month ago, but then I figured if I did, I'd buy last year's Madden, only to get suckered into buying another one later this year. So I'm waiting for the next Madden, and then I'll buy the console, as well as the new GTA. I'm going to buy a standalone Blu-ray player, though, so as to avoid the extra wear and tear from watching movies.

I have my PS3 hooked up to my 47 Inch LCD and it rocks. I also installed the Yellow Dog Linux and use the PS3 now as my main HTPC. The emulators are tough to get working but worth the effort I think. Also it is connected wirelessly and I use SAMBA to transfer files from my windows machines to it. It's pretty easy to upgrade the 40 gig disk to a 100+ gig drive also.

if GT5 doest suck i might get a PS3.
i'll wait until i get back stateside, and upgrade to a 1080p LCD TV. the 50 inch DLP i have right now is only 1080i. my 360 still looks fine on that though, so i'm good for now.
i do envy the fact you can browse the web on your PS3. 360 cant do that...

can you watch streaming vids on there? i think that would help convince me. i have a Wii but it always runs out of memory before a full vid can buffer. sucks for watching movie trailers and stuff.

as far as my stock PS3 goes (i don't know how to change its configuration like these other fellows) you can't do anything that is Windows based, but something like the vids on Youtube play just fine

Kool setup with your PS3. Ive got a small form factor PC connected to my Samsung 50inch plasma. Ive got all my emus(Mame, WinKAWAKS, MUGEN,GBA, Genesis, SNES, N64, TruboGFX16, etc..) running off of it. Im using a wireless xbox 360 controller to play them remotely and i also use it to watch all the latest Animes ive downloaded. Have'nt done any websurfing on it though, since i dont have a wireless keyboard.
