Wanna' guess where he's bleeding from right now? :)

Gee, and just think, I paid $5.00 in shipping on e-bay last week on a Clutch figure from HONG KONG!

That guy (who bought this Duke) is going " DOH! " right now!

Hahahaha! Let the buyer beware!

I don't think it's that big of deal. Maybe he can't find any of Wave 4 where he lives or even any new Joes for that matter. Target sells Joes for $5.99. Meijer for around $8, so if he paid $11 it's not that huge of a jump. Not everyone has a Wal-Mart around them (not exactly sure where that would be though. heh) Some people are willing to pay more for somethign they can't find.

True, Very true. I've done that and them realize that it was from another country, but if you can't find it in the states your most likely to find it some where else outside this country.

ebay actually has rules regarding shipping gouging however it appears to never be enforced. i can not think of any reasonabel shipping method that would cost $10 for a single figure, carded even. your looking at $6 tops with a free upsp box. it happens most of the time unfortunately. people make up any loss in sale price by padding the shipping, again, against ebay policies.

Yeah I have heard this too but people can claim gas for going to post office lol . You would think this would included in cost of item. Nothing suck worse then paying 8.00 shipping and figure come smushed in a box for 1.50 shipping .

That seller better give that buyer priority shipping with delivery confirmation for that price on shipping.

Ok guyz were brining the guy down and he's from Tiawan and doing some research I found out that he is not over charging. First Class Mail International is $10.10 and that is for less then a lb. and for Priority Mail International it comes out to be $18.50. So the only down fall on this is that he is selling it from Tiawan. If you guys have a problem with shipping quotes and you want to double check to see if it's right. Here's the web site to check: http://www.usps.com/

Y'all are assuming that the buyer is in the States, too. As a Canuk $11 USD, shipped, is a little less than average for a figure off of ebay. Most of mine cost about $12.50.

Yah, it cost me $8.55 to ship two 25th figures from Canada to USA - cheapest method.(that's a ripoff I think)
I find countless USA sellers on eBay that want $15.00-$27.00 to ship one figure to Canada.(Actual cost is $2.24)

Exactly! Because if someone would have looked, the buyer is actually located in Portugal. Sooooo, $11 for a figure might not be too bad for him (especially one that isn't at retail for him most likely). To say he "got suckered", I think he would have to have paid like $20 or more. I would pay $10-$12 for a figure, probably not Duke, but others I would (and have).

I've been selling some stuff on eBay and international bidders ask what shipping to them is and I cringe when I look it up. Especially for anything very heavy.

That's a good point, the buyer lives in Portugal.
$9.99 was probably one of the cheapest shipping costs available to him.
He's probably confused why most sellers from North America would charge him at least $20.00
He actually SAVED himself $10.00 LOL ! ! !

That's one of the things that drives me bonkers about buying on Ebay. Very few sellers actually charge even close to an actual shipping rate. I've received countless things from US sellers that charge easily $10 in excess of the actual shippping cost.
There are some sellers who charge reasonable rates, you just have to dig for them.
Realistically, 1 figure from a US seller will end up costing $12 to $13 after shipping anyway so $10 is in line.

When i ship to canada, its normally Priority mail and the price is roughly $16 for 1lb. It's just easier for me to fill out the customs paperwork, print out the labels via USPS, slap them on and ship them out. I hate manually filling out forms and standing in line at the P.O. Same goes with other international locations. It sucks, but i do state that if there are any questions about shipping, please ask. I'm willing to work with the customs form (ease the brokerage tax) and shipping rates. No one ever asks, so..... It's not like i'm making out with shipping, it's what i pay.. or i should say, they pay.

Yeah but it does not cost 9.00 to ship a figure from NYC to North Carolina alot of charges are just made up in the seller head. Also why is I pay 6-7 shipping does it take two weeks to get figure like I paid 2-3 dollars

ebay is a total sham! get scalped if you want but i think most folks that sell on ebay use it as there primary source of income, shipping is nowhere near the price they charge state to state but you gotta make a buck somehow. nothing to do with good ebay sellers because the're quite a few!

Though 9 bucks seems a bit high, I have sold a bit on eBay in the past, and I will jack up the shipping cost 2-3 dollars just to cover expenses. Sellers have to pay a listing fee (which varies based on the item's initial listing price--extra if you want to have a "buy it now" option or a reserve included), a fee for inserting a gallery photo (plus extra fees if you want to post extra pics on your listing), a percentage of your final selling fee, and paypal gets a percentage of your final selling fee, too. Plus, you've got costs for shipping material and the gas to drive to the P.O., which may be marginal if you sell a lot, but it is another factor.

I have seen most of the shipping supplies in wal-mart very cheap. Driving to post office is a excuse cause if it take me 2 weeks to get from NYC you didn't go right away. But I guess that is the reason i avoid ebay unless buying a lot cause rarely is one figure worth it.

The shipping is a little high but hey, you have to do what you have to do for the figures you can't find. I paid close to 40 dollars for flint and snake eyes/timber...

Well for me it was the opposite.. I paid $10 for shipping and it cost the seller $22 to mail it priority mail from Cedar Rapids to California.. althought it was 2 Transformers Jazz and Starscream still in box.

I just sold some joes these past few weeks. I charge 6.25 in state for usps usually priority, but i state first class just in case its only 1 figure. My listing fees are 0.85, my final value fee is usually another 0.35 and then paypal almost always takes $1 when the buyer pays with credit card. so now thats almost $2.50 in fees, and shipping is 4.60 for priority which is about $7 all said and done. Not including bubble wrap and the 10 minute drive to the post office, but also the drive to and from the different stores. I'm not saying that it is right to get jammed with ebay shipping fee's but people need a reason to sell on ebay. I charge 6.25 but my next few figures im going to have to up the charges most likely. I have trouble breaking even if im selling a new joe at retail.. which usually sells for 5.99 or 6.49 .. nothing to be made really.

Hi just won 4 figures from this guy in Taiwan (a0922802596). I saw the shipping was $9.9 for 1 figure and I was going for it expecting that the shipping would be less with more then 1 figures. Requested the total from him and he sent $39 of shipping with a $4 discount making it $35 to ship 4 figures. I can accept the trouble of only shipping one figure and that sometimes this is just to make you buy more then 1 figure. But I was expecting something like $1 or $2 for each additional figure. He is almost charging $9.99 for each. I even checked the Taiwan PO and I found that for me at max shipping would be less then $14. Ok he has fees, boxes, tapes this should always be taken into account so ok at max $20 but $35!!? Besides this I sent him already 1 mail, 1 msg at ebay and another email which returned back saying his email box was canceled or something and no answer from the guy. I will risk a negative feedback but no way I'm paying $35 for shipping 4 loose figures.

I don't know where you live at but he is charging you Priority Mail Flat Rate Box. Which comes out to $35.15 online mail. Ebay might side with him and you might lose on this. The $4.00 your saving is because he is using online mail, that's all. Guys you really need to read this stuff before you buy. Foreign stuff is going to cost you no matter what and Ebay is always going to side with them. Trust me it's happen to me more then once. If you can't find what I"m lookin for and you buy outside of the good ol US of A expect to pay big time for it. I had my account closed 2 times because of of some A~Hole from Japan DED( THD(

I'm in Portugal so I have to pay shipping always either from US, China etc.... But this is too much. The website of Taiwan PO doesn't have anything there for prio shippings. Only one option parcel. Then it gives you several countries and weights. The $14 is for 500 g to 1 Kg and I doubt it will be more then 500g but ok I'm giving the worst case scenario. Sent another mail a while back and guess what his yahoo account is suspended.

No problem if that is the charge listed on box . But if I pay 39.99 for shipping four figure and box says 10.00 then you are getting jerked.

I know the guy who bought it.

He lives in Portugal. He isnt able run down to Walmart and buy the new stuff when it comes out.

Hell, I think the 25th figures are going for about 10.00 a pop in the UK, so this is probably a pretty good deal.

Also, like I said, I know this guy. He's not an idiot.

Hi Hawk thanks for your opinion.

To the guys that were saying that I was a dumb *** well first of all I buy my stuff specially from US I was ripped off in shipping a few times but 80 or 90% of times I always manage to negotiate them and get the exact or a fair price. Some guys that I know in forums like Hawk even buy things for me, and recently I started helping some people from there making trades or simply buying things for them that they can't find there (chap mei).

About this case in particular. I was tracking 4 figures I managed to win all 4 of them. No way I was going to buy 1 only and pay $10 for shipping. As you guys said in some cases even some US ebayers charge you this. The problem with this guy is that he is making shipping price for 4 as if he was going to ship them one by one when in fact they will all come in one box or whatever. Resuming it doesn't really pay off to buy from this guy not in small or big amount he simply tries to bring his profit out of the shipping and I refuse that.

Besides all of these I've been trying to get a reply from him considering this shipping price and also why does Taiwan PO gives me a much cheaper price (less then half) but he doesn't reply me. Neither at ebay or his personal mail that comes in the invoice. Seems the account was canceled. This begins to sound very bad. Also if you look at his feedback he has several negative feedbacks, OK 100 in more then 7000 deals it's nothing but adding it to a suspended account can mean a lot.

As I said if no answer or explanation is given to me about this shipping quote I won't pay. He can leave me a negative and when he does that I will do the same. Besides after 20 Feb. he will have to prove every single $ for shipping. As far as I know you can't just ask $10 for shipping because you want too you have to prove (I still don't know how) that you spent $x for shipping and $y for the envelope/ box etc.....

Update on the situation. As you know I tried to contact this guy numerous times, and he never replied me. Yesterday he opened disputes on all 4 items. I immediately replied to them with what I described here. Explaining why I didn't pay yet and wanting some kind of justification from his side. If you notice he has the same items with buy it now option with a cheaper shipping $6 some times.

Anyway without no surprise to me he didn't answer to the first 2 replies I made simply strike me out. The other 2 he strike me today with a small message, "I made a discount nothing else I can do sorry". Not even told me the reason why the price is high which service mail I'm buying, tracking/no tracking, insurance/no insurance just as I requested.

This is on ebay's hands now but I don't know why not big faith on them. Once I lost money and no item was sent and ebay didn't do anything to the guy.... In this case we can say he only lost 1 deal because the other 3 figures had no additional bids. Besides he has the items so the list is minimum and if he wanted to have a shorter gain we could have solved this in the right way. One thing is certain I won't pay the $35 for shipping as he wants my limit is $18

It's actually quite common for Asian sellers to refuse to combine shipping, many state that in the auction.
There's a guy selling TF Animated figures out of Asia right now:
Buy IT Now $1.00
Shipping $31.00
NO combined shipping.(even though if 2 items are bought by the same buyer...they ship together in the same box)
It seems to be less regulated in Asia as far as circumventing eBay fees.
If you're considering buying out of Asia, or already have, don't expect a combined shipping rate...
Clearly, that's where they make their money.
