View Full Version : Was looking at the USS FLAGG and was wondering....
I was wondering...was looking at the bids going for this USS FLAGG and noticed the bidders had 2**8, 8**6, etc. Are these fake bidders to bring a price up?

No, they aren't fake.
Ebay started blocking out names on high priced items to prevent those bidders from being targeted by frauds and scammers.
Ahhh.... ok... was wondering about that... Thanks!

Wow, those two people are really at it... 36 bids and 2 are not them (y**c and r**f)... d**n!!!
I think the privacy goes into affect once it goes over $200 i believe.

eBay has changed how bid history information is displayed for higher-priced items. To help keep the eBay community safe, enhance bidder privacy, and protect our members from fraudulent emails, only you and the seller of the item can view your User ID in bid history. Other members will see anonymous names, such as x***y.
hope that helps

I'm not sure if it's really anonymous, if you bid on something enough times and notice who's bidding with you, you can sorta tell who they are... for instance.. abcdef would be b**f and bcdefg would be c**g... maybe they scramble the scheme of things but it has 2 letters of your e-bay ID.
Check for yourself on the next high price bid you place.
