Review: RoC Crimson Neo-Viper

The Crimson Guard. They have been iconic Cobra troopers for years, representative of the insidiousness of Cobra, and the lengths they will go to achieve victory (Hiring ACCOUNTANTS!).

For the Rise of Cobra movie, Hasbro has introduced a ‘revamp’ of the classic Crimson Guard; the Crimson Neo-Viper.


Is this a fitting tribute to the classic “Siegies”, or a quick way to cash in on a repaint?

I love the neo viper mold. But I hate the red neo viper.

The TRU one with the segmented face and the Oakland Raiders ones are the best.

I don't see him as a CG. Looks too different and has the NEO-Viper name. I just got my silver/black Neo-Viper at target today. He's rad! Like the Alley-Viper, I welcome all the repaints.

Where did you get the idea that this was supposed to be the "new" Crimson Guard? There's nothing to point to that.

It's a Neo-Viper that serves as the bodyguard for the Cobra "royalty" (a.k.a. the leadership).

I felt being named the "Crimson" anything in the Joe-world has always implied a relationship with the CGs.

But I also included:

The creation of the Crimson Neo-Viper takes a major departure from previous G.I. Joe lore, as the Crimson Neo-Viper is a super powered bodyguard for COBRA.

It's not a bad thing, its just a different thing.

I think I'll pick up a couple of these guys. So far I've built a nice CG army. I think I will fit these guy's in as "Crimson Bodyguards." The Neo-Viper mold doesn't look CG to me though.

The Elite's profile lists them as the personal guard of Destro while the Red Neo-Viper is listed to protect the Cobra leadership. I would say it's not a bad idea to let them be the Neo-Viper leaders.

I dunno why they are calling them "ROyal Guards" it's too much of a parrallel to the Return of the Jedi Royal Guards, IG just add Destro's cape to em and whola...

They are pretty cool color though if they just had Elite Viper heads/Bodies with proper regalia and medals and such as true CGs then they would be perfect "segies". But as they stand now I see a huge ammount of them being Cobra-La conversions just have to add some Folk Art 656 Metalic Blue sapphire paint in some patches all over him and whola...

They look like Cobra's firefighters too with that fire axe they have LOL! COuld be FLame-vipers or Cherry Ice Creme Soldiers. Or Dr. Cherry Viper, or Cherry Turtle Viper ice Creme Solider (chery + vanilla ice creme+coke+carmel hmmmmmmm)

I just want 2 to stand guard over Serpentor since his gold and metallic green will compliment thier metallic red and black very well for a stiking Dio on some throne if I can ever build/find a decent one.

I really like the neo-viper, but I think they could have done something a little better/different with this piece. Maybe its the boots, I dont know. I'd rate it lower, at least give em a cloak or a different style helm. Snake in a crate...I love the RoC line but when I saw/opened this piece I was let down.

These guys are too insectoid looking to be leading any CGs! For me the are target practice for my Alley Vipers and if they survive that they are converted into Golobulous's Royal Guards...

They're just beefier than the original CG's...the 25th cg's look like they'll fall apart. Maybe insectoid, but a sturdy lil sectaur it is.

Yeah, its hard to decide.

The 25th CG's really are like little skinny girls, tiny legs and all. But these guys are TOO... beefy maybe, or just to weird looking. I loved the detailed uniforms on the 25th CGs, these are very bland (other than the color).
