Jospeh Gordon Levitt is a pretty damned good actor, but as I've said before, he's too young. I just don't see anyone younger than I am being the leader of a world-wide terrorist organization.

As for Destro and Cover Girl, I have seen rumors that Cover Girl will be played by Mary-Kate Olsen and Destro will be played by Daniel Radcliff

I've always been a fan of Quaid this is the best casting choice so far. I can't believe I'm going to say this but I'm actually warming up to the idea of Levitt (sp?) as Cobra Commander.

This casting is cool. I had always envisioned Rob Stewart (http://www.scifi.com/sfw/images/interview/20070409_Loken3_rev.jpg) as General Hawk as I think he really has the look down pat. I read about it over at Dark Horizons and the part of "GI Joe being set in the future" bothers me.

What I always liked about GI Joe though, is that it was set pretty much in the present, and the reason these guys had lasers and BATs is because these are super secret organizations that are a step ahead of the normal military.

I mean, MARs wouldnt be as cool if Destro was only selling M16's and AK47s.

I always thought of MARs being a lil sci-fi oriented and super sofisticated, while the Joes were using Prototype "Future War" type stuff.

Hopefully the film focuses on Hawk as the central leader/combatant and leaves Duke/Rex as more of a subplot. I've always like Quaid, eventhough he generally hasn't been in good films. While the films aren't good, he's always been a bright spot.

I'm curious? What has been "piss poor" in the casting so far? Other than Wayans (and some have said he could pull off a good acting experience) what exactly has warranted you saying "this movie is doomed"?

It will fail miserably if it doesn't show some kind of update. Don't get me wrong, I love the original cartoon series (thought it was the greatest thing as a kid), but as an adult I want a modernized version of G.I. Joe and I don't mean this Extreme or Sigma 6 crap. I want an updated ARAH.

This has been A+ casting on this film Quad is just the actor to bring more legitimacy to it much like jon V. in transformers. Quad will be a great hawk and with ray park you know two of the most important characters are in good hands. Now with larry hama as creative consultant, this is starting to really take a positive shape. My only gripe so far is marlon wayans, and only that he is ripcord and not stalker or doc or someone who is not ripcord.

Well I think this is good news. Quaid is just about the best casting choice for this role. Now he has to pull it off. To me its the pinnacle role for a male actor to play a general. John Wayne did it. Jeff Fisher did a pretty good job. John Travolta, even though a believable age, was not convincing to me. It sort of makes up for a few of the other choices, Namely DUKE and CC who seem just way too young. I'm sure the movie will be fine to watch, but I can't say that 26 year olds portray the age of those two main characters. Duke should have been played by somebody like Sam Elliott. But then again, How else will we get a trilogy over the next ten years? Well as long as Stalker is MACE WINDU I'm set.

it sound like they are trying to go with a g.i.joe reloaded story. here is were i am with this movie. i don't like the casting for anyone except snake-eye. i hate that they are going with the international team instead of the real american hero. if i was going to have to be stuck with an international team then there are still plenty of characters with in the g.i.joe universe so they wouldn't have to bastardize original characters and make them fit for some other country. like they could red star, big ben, torpedo, spirit and buda if you wanted to stretch it alittle bit there is quick kick and jinx and big bear. i'm sure there are some other but i can't think of them right now. they could have keep the core characters and still make it international with the joe side characters.
