Steel Crusher makes a pretty cool transport. I wish there were handgrips or a railing along the top for the guys on the running boards to grab ahold of.

Two pegs are on the roof, so you can attach SE and friends. SS can fight him on the roof. You can only really access the pegs if the top is pushed back.

His goggles flip up but not totally out of the way. His likeness is amazing, btw.

Thanks for the pic's! I think I'll pick up that version of the Baroness now that I've seen her.

The figures themselves are all rather cool. Fantastic details. Good paint. Really nice likenesses.

Accessories on the other hand are a mixed bag. Each figure gets quite a few. However, there are quite a few molded pistols in holsters. Some characters have removeable ones, like the Vipers and Heavy Duty. Reactive Duke has a removeable knife, which no one else has (wonder if it has a significance in the film?).

The backpacks often suffer from the same malady that the Anniversary line has...theyr'e generally too soft and therefore the peg doesn't fit securely in their backs. Especially when the figure is wearing a vest of some sort that the peg has to go through. Really lame. SE's pack is quite solid, though.

My biggest complaint comes from their guns which often have stocks that are too long. Getting some figures into good aiming poses can be a pain. The stocks are so long, it's hard to bring the holding hand across the chest enough for the other hand to grab the gun. The gun molds are nice, but they should have shortened the stocks to better fit the figures. I'd rather have usable guns as opposed to perfectly accurate ones. Trenchcoat SE's rifle and the longer Viper guns are almost useless.

So a little bit of a shame. Really nice figures, despite the lack of universal working holsters (seems a step backward) hampered by overlong weapons.

Standouts for me are the reactive Duke, Baroness, and accellerator Ripcord.

i'll get a baroness or two.

I also opened the Rockslide and Cobra Gunship. I'll take some pics of those later.

The Rockslide is a nice, if overly simple, vehicle. The little missles on the skids are not removeable. The skids turn in unison rather nicely. The rear tread can be moved up/down for some reason. It can be repositioned side/side but it doesn't really move that way; you have to basically reattach it in a different position.

The Gunship is a little bit of a let down. It's got a size size and feel to it. It's just lacking in paint and sculpt detail. The engine compartments have no interior paint aps, which would have really made it look nice (by contrast the interior storage compartments on the Clone Wars Republic tank have really nice paint aps). The gunship has a rotating front turret which I wasn't expecting. The wings/missle pods don't move out very far. It has landing gear, but they really don't move very far. There are little handles on the bottom, so you can hang figures from the bottom. Maybe accellerator Duke grabs onto them after leaping off that building?

A couple of pics showing the long stocks. This is the best you can get for aimed shooting.

Showing the handle grips underneath. There are 3 of them.

Not alot of room inside the gunship. It really needed to be a larger vehicle.

The Rockslide camo matches the standard Joe pattern pretty well.

Haven't opened either Storm Shadow, green Heavy Duty, Cobra Commander, the Ice Vipers, or Zartan yet. Hoping to find more figures tomorrow on another run.

If anyone has any pic requests, let me know. I'll try to fill requests.

I'll need all the joes in reactive impact armors since they look awesome that way !

07-04-2009, 04:17 AM
Thank you for posting the pics!

Hi, I also got Breaker today. Not sure if it's just mine but were his thumbs kinda messed up? Mine seem like they got folded over into his plam during manufacturing? Just curious. thanks

I tried to take a better pic of the reactive armor team. With Ripcord filling in for now. Scarlett's face is always too blown out.

Same thing on my Breaker. I remember this happening to a Joe during the VvV days I believe. A really odd mistake. Must have happened while making the mold, and it would have been way too expensive to fix.

I like this pose.

07-04-2009, 06:41 AM
Was Breaker supposed to include the headset piece his card art shows him have on, or is there another Breaker coming where he has this? Seems odd to show something on the card art not included with the figure.

The figures are good though from what I've bought. I wasn't going to really buy much movie stuff, but a number of figures have made me interested.

I bought Cobra Commander, Snake Eyes (normal version), Scarlett (black suit), Breaker, Heavy Duty (green), Ripcord, and Baroness. Couldn't find Shipwreck, Cover Girl, or Ice Viper yet, but the hunt is still young.

The photos here convinced me to get the Steel Crusher vehicle, though the Cobra Airship looks kinda disappointing.

The guns on the figures are a bet big, or rather as the photos show, not able to get in great position for aiming, but at least they can hold their weapons with both hands now. SOmething the modern line had trouble with a lot on.

Wow you were right the face/head sculpt on Desert Duke is a dead on likeness

07-04-2009, 07:11 AM
Desert Ambush Duke is cool, I bought two the other day at a store here, I mainly like how it ACTUALLY looks like a Soldier, not something that is far fetched or extreme like some figures.

07-04-2009, 07:20 AM
Yeah me too. I'm planning on buying a bunch for army building and just swap heads.

07-04-2009, 07:25 AM
They all look great, i'll be getting most of these.

yeah, he's the only figure i want from the first wave.

07-04-2009, 03:11 PM
Who's torso is that for Desert Duke? The rest of him look like Dusty, but I'm not too sure about the torso.

07-04-2009, 03:47 PM
Yeah, that Duke looks just like a real soldier. I'm thinking we'll be seeing a LOT of "real life"-type customs. This line is kind of impressing me, I admit.

07-04-2009, 05:10 PM
I love the Desert Duke but the one problem I had was his "vest/jacket" has great detail in the back but not in front, also pics from the movie and card art show a plate carrier on top of that. So got Res Duke's vest painted it tan and put it over it, much better. have 3 now 1 in box, 1 opened fixed, another im going to make a Captain Lennox from TF1

Cyclonus8 I think its all new, torso looks like Dusty's but the "skirt" is shorter and molded plastic. love the elbow& kneepads

07-04-2009, 07:49 PM
Hey man, nice shots!

Can you put some RAH figures in that Cobra Gunship for a couple of pics? I'm wondering if it'll look better with them, due to the slightly smaller size of the figures...

A couple of quick shots with the original DTC RHINO. I think both ROC Joe designs work well with it. I see no reason to buy the new version.

07-08-2009, 02:43 AM
you know if you take sgt stone. give him gung ho's arms and keep the hands. give him ROC zartan's disguise head with a beard molded on. throw rock n' roll's bandoliers on you might have a kick ass ROC rock n' roll

all you need is a pit commando and you'd have an away team complete with your own "red shirt" for a disguised zartan to take out. lol

07-08-2009, 07:42 PM
Have you tried fitting Desert Dukes head on the Reactive Armor Duke body?

There is something off about Reactive Dukes head, I was wondering how the Desert head would look on it...

07-08-2009, 07:47 PM
where did you find them? What retailer?

I haven't found Cover Girl yet, so I am not sure if she has it, but Scarlett, and Breaker both have holes on their right legs...any idea what goes there?

I think Scarletts crossbow can fit on hers, but not sure about why Breaker has the hole as well.

07-13-2009, 05:24 PM
The more I chill with reative armor Scarlett the more I dislike it. The face just doesn't look... "right". It's really hard to get a "realistic" face at that scale, and doubly so if female. I hope they learn their lesson over there and learn to do a good likeness, but smoothing out the details a bit. Hair hair is a complete joke as well. At least in the cartoon, the girls either had short hair (Lady Jaye), or tied back out of the way (Scarlett). Not only does this look like she's posing for a fashion shoot, it makes her head impossible to turn.

Cover Girl actually ended up being a fav, after I hit her hair with some canery yellow. Sadly, realistic blond hair is one of those thigns that doesn't scale well, and looks like sand-colored lump of crap.

I actually like the reactive Scarlett figure. I think she's got a good likeness. Yeah, her hair limits her head's mobility, but I think it's a necessary evil. The Marvel Universe Ms. Marvel has more rubbery hair that can be pushed around a bit. The material doesn't allow for as much detail, though. I'm thinking of picking up some extra Scarlett's during the TRU sale and doing some head swaps. I want a blue camo Scarlett with her hair down.

The recent movie stills with Cover Girl show that the head sculpt on that figure is actually kinda accurate. She's got a wide jawline which the figure has. Eastern block genetics, I suppose.
