In my opinion, Sigma 6 lends itself more to the movie aesthetic than both Action Battlers and the 12" figures. I don't think much of the 12" figures, but a movie Cobra Commander Sigma 6 figure would be AWESOME. I can see it now, suitcase full of a ton of accessories, trenchcoat with pockets and hidden weapons, clear removable mask, yeah, on a Sigma 6 figure this would be great.

Hasbro just doesn't do 12" figures well. the aesthetics of the classic 12" Joe toys that they continue to attempt to use just doesn't look goo din today,s market.

For me, that ROC Commander belongs with the Fred IIV battle suit, they are both impostors.
The story is that ROC Commander was burned in a fire? What happened to the storyline of the used car salesman that became disgruntled? They kept Destro's in the Scottish clan background, but changed CC's background? Isn't the name of the film Rise of Cobra?
In 1/6 scale he is the WORST FIGURE EVER that Hasbro has made. It is really sad... :(

You gotta admit, they sure did get tatum and wayans heads perfect. Other than that the CC looks like it belongs from the new Star Trek movie.
And I agree that Hasbro just dosent do a decent 12" G.I.joe. Some of the older historical stuff was ok, but where Hasbro used to RULE the 12" world..they seem to have fallen in last place. I dont buy 12" figs, but I look at them, and those Walmart knock offs seem to look better than the G.I.joe ones.
I see these 12" things sitting EVERYWHERE. Do these even sell? I really dont know, but where the single cards and vehicles move off shelves here, there is a TON of stagnent combat heros, and 12" figs.
Sometimes I just question the direction Hasbro Is moving with the Joe name. The entire look of the movie line, and the movie itself looks like trash to me..Combat heros do not sell, yet they keep making them.
These are pretty expensive, and look very crappy...

hahahah, my first thought when i clicked the pic was 'holy crap, Mr. Incredible joined Cobra.' what a horrendous head sculpt.
You gotta admit, they sure did get tatum and wayans heads perfect.
that's about the only nice thing i can say about them ~ they really are impressive likenesses, i wonder if they did some kind of digital scanning of the actors? But holy smokes these are horrible looking otherwise...

Ripcord looks decent...
They made Duke look like some street hood from GTA San Andreas.
I guess I could try and transplant Duke's head on a Ripcord body for the Reactive Impact Armor...
and why did Mr.Incredible join Cobra again?
These figures are, at least, superior to anything I have previously seen in the Hasbro 12" line.
Coil crusher will never die!!!
I'm glad someone else noticed the similarity.
That is Definitely Coil Crusher... and what's sad is when he first came out I thought he was laughable - still do - but even he is better looking than most of the character design for ROC.
it was jettisoned because it's f'ing stupid.
Then I suppose William Maceys character in Fargo was stupid. Or that my old friends dad is stupid because he was a used car salesman who rose to prominence in the early 90's to become one of the most respected businesmen in my hometowm. What's wrong with it exactly? It could have been any job, that wasn't the point.
I prefer the original concept of a dissilusioned blue collar american, climbing the ladder from cerebral protest to organized demonstrations for what he believes is right to finally leading a nascent paramilitary organization which is the vehicle to absolute power which ultimately corrupts him absolutely.
It's the perfect ironic corruption of the "american dream"
On the other hand, he could be what? A "scientist" who gets deformed? Now that has been done to death in various iterations of the same formula. I'm certain they will cobble together a paper thin personilazation but of the myriad questions that will undoubtedly arise I doubt we will have many answers.

What a strange conflict in quality.
The Joes are some of the best likenesses I've seen on retail toys, but the bodies are skinny and awkward with the molded clothes.
That does look like a modified HOF Snake Eyes mask, sadly it is the best looking part of the Neo-Viper.

As much as i absolutely hate Sigma 6, i think your point is incredibly valid ~ i think the scale and 'dynamic animated style' of S6 would work really well with the movie line, adding some much needed dynamics that are overall really, really needed with the bland movie designs.
I think they'd have WAY more kid appeal, i see no reason these 12"ers won't rot on shelves just like the 25th ones did. (kinda funny that Duke there looks like a terrorist)
it was jettisoned because it's f'ing stupid.
while it's probably not viable for a movies running time, it's far from stupid, it's bloody brilliant ~ he's the American dream gone horribly wrong. Turning Amway into a machine to fuel a terrorist empire.
effing stupid was turning him into a damn snake. >facepalm<

That CC looks freakin' bizzare. He's got Gung Ho grip and what look like Action Man Boot Legs. Hopefully some good bashin' material. Duke is a total pass for me, hate the sculpt, but at least Airborn/Wayans head looks decent and the head could be swapped out. I'm glad their reusing Coil Crusher, love that headsculpt. Hopefully these will warm the pegs long enough to get on clearance. Are they really priced at $25? I thought they were going cheaper, and the SoundFX Snake-eyes and Storm Shadow were going for $25.

cc is the best 12 out of the lot, some of the figures and vehicles are out already over in london but I'm sticking to only a few things and not the entire range-hasbro doesnt think there is a recession on,transformers and joes are way too expensive.
Otimus in sainsbury's which is like Ralph's supermarket is £44.99 nearly $65-thats nuts!

Duke looks like Gung Ho mixed with, as DaViper said, a Backstreet Boy.
Cobra Viper, which looks wayyyyy less realistic than the original one(aren't they going for "boring" realism with this movie?), looks like Zartan under the mask.
Ripcord just makes me mad that Ma & Pa Wayans didn't practice safe sex.
Cobra Commander looks like Mutagen Man, a villain from TMNT.

Gawd that CC is an abomination! I wish he would go away and get redesigned...if they can have two super racial robots running around cussing thier heads off calling people "pussys" (with a gold toof even) in Transfomers then we can have a hooded Cobra Commander. Too much like a KKK hood that is theeeeeeeeee lamest shit I have ever heard for a reason he could not have his Cowl. If he was in a white out fit and carried a COnfederate flag maybe it would be an issue (would still be better tahn what we have here) it is just plain rediculousness....

If Cobra Commander is a masked burn victim, maybe Snake Eyes is an ex-used car salesman protecting his identity?

wow, and that is comparable to a car salesman forming a technologically advanced terrorist operation how? must not have been selling American cars to bankroll that.
the concept of a guy getting disillusioned with America and rebelling is fine. being a car saleman, that's f'ing stupid.
come back when William Macey's character in Fargo gets his spin off movie where he gets out of jail and takes over the world, or your old friend's dad creates an island that becomes a recognized nation where he plots world domination from. until then, none of that is relevant. nothing I said can even remotely be interpreted to mean that car salesman are bumbling idiots and not capable of doing well in life or being angry, which is all you have retorted, but becoming a terrorist leader isn't the plausible next step for either one. and despite the fantastical elements in any movie, the audience still expects plausibility in it.

You are right.
But what I was saying worked from, what I should have explained, was partially my personal interpretation of Cobra.... not for the new era or movie Cobra.
For most of the Marvel run, which I know I'm not the only one who holds that as canon, the dissilusioned blue collar man who rose to prominence angle works brilliantly.
I like to imagine Cobra, and they were mostly portrayed as, a semi-compotent 3rd world equivelent quasi world power that garnered power and high technology through political corruption and the assistance of Destro's vast resources. And if you look at some of the greatest threats to "civilised" society in the past few decades they have come from men who rose from nothing to being "revolutionaries" through sheer force of will and the support of those who they indoctrinated.
I just had a starry eyed view of a more realistic portrayel.
Which by the way - I think now would have been the perfect time and political climate for such a film... it seems to me.
But for a blast em up green bomb power ranger suit popcorn flick I do agree that scientist makes more sense.
qucik retoricle question, why does hasbro suck at making toys
I agree they've made some real crap. But I think we can all agree they've made some true masterpieces as well. So, I wouldn't say they suck at making toys... I'd just say they were a company run by human beings who can't get it right 100% of the time.
And as for the other part, hell yeah the ought to stop by here if they don't already. But I imagine that being artists they are constantly perusing the internet for ideas and references... so I'm sure they have seen many of the awesome customs posted here and around the net.

The Cobra Commader figures looks like it uses mainly parts from the European Action Man range No Face figure, even down to the trench coat and weapon.
For mass market 12" figures they don't look that bad, but they aren't going to be available in the UK so I will just concentrate on the 3 3/4" range and whatever vehicles get released over here.
