I see on the Hasbro site http://www.hasbro.com/gijoe/en_US/ it says the film is rated PG-13 (next to the trailer). Any confirmation if this is official? Is there anyone here who has read the script and might know why it would be PG-13 other than violence?

I read the movie novel and there are some very violent deaths in the movie based on what I read, so that maybe the reason.

I was just wondering if it was because of any sex references or language. My 2 nephews really want to see this film but their mom wont let them see Pg-13 films mostly for sex and language reasons...violence = not so much of a problem. They were banned from the Transformers, not that they missed anything. I told them I would let them know if they stand a chance of seeing it.

I hope it's not like Transformers ROTF. I feel for anyone who has to explain the garbage in that film to their kids!

first off...is it any surprise that its PG-13?

second...i agree with blayze5150. young.heaux was 12 when the first TF came out and it was a bit of a squirmy situation with the whole "were you masturbating?" scene. i had just cracked that aspect of life with him not too very long before....but hadnt really touched upon that....sorry about the pun.

third...a fair question from rockstarfrank. maybe a few years ago i wouldve given that question a "oh, come on.", but in recent years there has been a definitive pushing of the PG-13 envelope. some movies do it (ROTF) some really dont (indy jones)(who by the way, with his temple of doom, you can thank for the inception of PG-13)

lastly...without having read the novel, but having read the prequel novel....my "movie-goer" educated guess would be...

first and foremost...violence and peril throughout
secondly...moderate language
thirdly...mild flirty, sexual content.

and dont laugh at that third one...the clone wars animated movie got a PG partially based on "momentary smoking"....which was done by a Hutt!

I am definitely not surprised at the PG-13 rating. I also understand parents hesitation with current PG-13 films. I am no prude myself and most of my favorite films are rated R but I am an adult which is what R films are made for. It does bother me when a film like Transformers is more suited for an older teen than a kid when the whole line was meant for kids to begin with.

I hope the Joe movie is very minimal with language and "sexual content", it's a movie about special forces I would expect it to be violent.

If I had it my way, ROC would be Rated R. Then the toys would prob look better cause they would be geared for adults. Plus the movie would be way more violent with an R Rating...

I was expecting a PG rating.

Oh well, my 6 year old cousin will see her first PG-13 movie with me.

really ??!!? That is ridiculous. They should re-rate all those old Disney cartoons.

A movie does not have to have one ounce of violence to earn an R rating......... not being sarcastic, just letting you know in case you didn't know.

hmmm...

has anyone else caught the fact that all of the TV commercials running currently are proclaiming "this film is not yet rated" now? Three weaks before the movie opens and the rating is in question all of a sudden (since the current marketing explosion maybe?)...

I get why it was given the PG-13 in the first place, it's cool with me.

what I'm getting at is that the ads are now saying it's NOT YET Rated... like the PG-13 has been yanked out from under the movie. That makes me curious if there is something weird going on behind the scenes that's warranted the rating is getting reevaluated... re-editing maybe?

this seems like a bizarre move this close to the premeire of the movie.

the trailer on Hasbro's site still has the PG13 stamped in the corner of the video...

Kids under 13 shouldn't be allowed to see Marlon Wayans trying to act IMO. LOL.
