Agent Helix and Desert Heavy Duty Mini-Review

I picked up Heavy Duty and Helix on eBay for a pretty good price last week. The figures weren't complete, but I wasn't planning on using the missing gear, so I didn't mind.

The big launcher and the sattelite will go in the fodder bin. The square rifle reminds of one of the prototype guns that was available in the Delta Force video games series, think they called it a G11. Her pistol is a very nice sculpt, with an extended clip, laser sight and a top rail sight.

The sculpting on the figure is top notch. She is fully articulated without a loose torso like some Scarletts had or the odd hips/ mid torso that the early Baroness had. The hanging pouches on her hips do not interfer with the hip articulation.

Helix is slightly taller than the Scarlett/Glenda figure and roughtly the same height as the 5 pack Lady Jaye, due to Helix's heeled boots.

The only down point to this figure I see is I may have to repaint her eyes, she has a little too much eyeliner on.

Heavy Duty

I originally bought him to use for a custom figure I was building, but I may pick him up when the movies figures are released to make a RAH style HD.

For some reason, I prefer the desert uniform to the woodlands version, the tans help break up all the green on the first figure. The figure includes a removable vest and belt with his initials on the belt buckle. The build is very similar to the 25th Anniversary Bazooka, not fat, but stocky, built like a linebacker. His heck articulation is limited in the up down movement. The likeness is very close to actor Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, AKA Mr. Eko on LOST.

The figure include a gun that appears to be a combination of a SAW with a grenade launcher attachment, it looks more like a weapon from the Aliens universe. His ammo pack actually straps onto him instead of pegging into the hole in his back. The pack also has his initials on it, I guess he's territorial about his gear.

he looks sweet but somnthing on the right wrist is off putting I'm guessing just bare wrist look odd in the 25th line and movie ones .I think all the figures i have that have bare arms have gloves on

She reminds me of the Spytroops Zarana...definitely would like to get her. Heavy Duty, on the other hand, might be good for custom fodder.

I actually ran into Heavy Duty (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) at a bar last night. I talked to him about the movie for a hot second. He hasn't even seen it yet...

He hopes we like it... but he didn't seem too sure.

Heavy Duty might be one of the worst looking Joe figures ever made, and that is considering Robo-Joe.

Helix just isn't interesting. her boring, overly convoluted design could have come right out of Valor versus Venom. and that's not a good thing.

Both figures look better than their early prototypes. The paint apps on Helix's eyes look upside down. Like the black eyeliner should be on top and not on the bottom. I guess they want to give Helix a goth look. Helix's legs look like they could go with a custom Resolute Scarlett.

Actually, they are Resolute Scarlet legs. So at least we know where some of the tooling is in use.

If you mean the SOCOM pistol with Helix, it's from Marauder John's site. Helix does have a Metal Gear look to her.

In person, HD's eyes aren't that bad, the flash really washes them out.

I like to see the appearance of bare wrists and hands on some of these ROC figures. I bought the Cover Girl already and it looks good. On HD, though, they don't match very well. Maybe Bazooka's hands will be a better fit.

I myself love the heavy duty mold. I don't see what they could have done better (unless you just hate HD's movie representaition)Hasbro can use this mold with many other of the larger joes with just adding a new head,paint and accerories.

In some photo's Heavy Duty looks kinda fat but here he dose not. I hoped to paint him blue and put cobra commander's head on and say its him "the latter years" after he let himself go.

i couldn't agree more! there haven't been many roc joes i've seen that i like. it's mostly cobra roc figs that hold my interest. the helix fig is right outta v vs v! if i end up buying these they will meet a grisly end with a dremel and scalpel.
