Is the tip of a giant drill really a safe place to house a missle?
Does Hasbro even understand anything about missles other than "red"?

Maybe it's just me, but I'm not lovin' these. They look too VvV or JvC for my taste. Hasbro was doing so good with the 25th stuff why go back to crap? I don't understand. If they want my money they'll have to do better then this.

Looks like they did some part swapping since the original terra viper pics. I think the original pic we saw was a straight croc master repaint. i must admit I have heard terrible things about the movie but the tos are looking better and better to me.

I had to look Thunder up on yojoe.com. I'd never even heard of the guy.
Honestly, I gotta give Hasbro some credit for using the movie line to give us a 25th version of such an obscure character. Shame they didn't rerelease him with the Slugger though.

Out of Thunder, Sgt Thunder, and Thunderblast, none were available, and they went with Sgt Thunderblast?
Sounds like slang for someone with a flatulence problem.
Still i'm looking forward to the newest Cobra recruits: Reptile Vipers.

Not for me...very eager to watching the movie no matter what people say about it but I am not going to collect the movie figures or vehicles. I am sticking with my original ARAH figures and vehicles for my Joe Room.

What do y'all think- for those who aren't really digging the movie toyline, is that "close enough" to fit in with your 25th collection? I'm undecided...

well... i'm no huge fan of the figure (as you can probably tell, seeing as it was my derisive comment that was quoted)... but if i can manage to find a headpiece from the original Thunder and use it on this one, i guess i would consider it 'close enough', kind of like what i did with Steeler. hate the idea of having to get a vehicle to get the figure, though.

I wish Hasbro had ponied up the money to but a visor off of ebay and give characters like Steeler and Thunder their correct helmets.

Seems they found a way to make the Armadillo even more lame by adding missile launchers. I do want a Thunder though so I guess Hasbro will get my money for that one.

LOL...it's not a missile it's a PRETEND "Laser". EVERYONE knows you need to use a laser before you drill. It only make since.

My thoughts exactly but I can't leave any 1982-85 figure on the shelf. I'll stick him in that brown Slugger that came with Gung Ho...problem solved :)

molepod... (sigh)
If it was about twice that size I would get it just to use for Cobra Commander and Destro when they escaped from the rubble of the P.I.T. in the Marvel Comic.
That is the only possible redeeming thing I can even barely dredge up for that stupid toy.
If I somehow happened to find some of the Snowmobiles marked down to 3.99 in a clearance aisle at wal-mart I might just possibly consider getting some, painting them black, red and gold and giving them to my Iron Grenadiers.
But I doubt it.
I already have 7 Armadilloes. I'm happy with them. This one stinks. Thunder looks awful. If it's on clearance I might get it just for some of the parts to make my own Thunder. But I kinda doubt it.
Sorry to sound so negative, but I think it's time to start wearing black and go into mourning...
The death of the line is at hand... Again.

I love the Armadillo, the side missiles can come off. Love the paint scheme.
Thunderblast is cool.
The Rockslide is okay looking. Like the paint job on Snow Job.
I like the Mole Pod, it's nothing special but just a neat little thing.

The most iconic part to Thunder is his helmet - particularly the radio attached to the sides - and this figure completely leaves that part off. Kind of sad tribute to a fun character.
I'm not sure what Hasbro is thinking with the drills. I remember a toy very similar to this in my childhood that got recalled - the 70s Battlestar Galactica viper - with the same design flaw. Little kids will put it in their mouths and squeeze the trigger. I will be AMAZED if the missile fires on this one.

I really just can't believe they are planning to Charge $15.99 for these.
10, 11, 12 i could see, but putting out an Armadillo and figure for more then the MSRP of an Armadillo and 2 figures and another small vehicle a year ago in the current economy is either asinine or suicidal (or both).

I agree. I will buy just one of these for that exact same reason. I just hope that the stores don't put them on shelves at that price. At best 13.99 sounds a bit much but doable.

i can't believe they want to charge 15 bucks for these horrible things. take the armadillo, guess adding 2 giant ass missile launchers makes the price go from 7.50 (as it was in a 2 pack with driver, another vehicle & televiper for 15 bucks) to 15 alone? these should all be 10 bucks or less. i dont even want to look at these abominations.

Wow, all junk. Someone else said something about Hasbro having to try harder to get their money. I somehow don't think they are concerned about that after all the ROC stuff they have shown so far. This stuff has to be directed at the new fan base they are hoping for after the movie.
That same fanbase will be the one that is no where near the theater after this movies first couple of days (for those of us that just can't look away from this car crash and will go anyways) in the theater and all the lame a$$ remarks people will be hearing about it.

...Good Grief, Folks... DE2(Every time I hear "deth of teh line" I can't help but laugh! Hasbro's been getting the relatively insignificant "collector-dollar" since they started the 25th line, and the movie (and its toys) are aimed at KIDS. Like the stuff or not, it's going to be here, and its SUCCESS will be ultimately what determines the space on the shelves for G.I. Joe with the retailers for the forseeable future! Therefore, it HAS to succeed with the kids, like it or not. ONLY that success will insure that there are further "classic" releases at all, which anyone with sense knows damn well there will be anyway... All of the packaged and finished-looking product turning up overseas is plain evidence that Hasbro has certainly NOT given up on Classic or Resolute! It's just going to be a matter of time and patience. For all we know these items could be hitting ALONGSIDE of the movie-stuff! No one says you HAVE to get it...

man besides the 7 packs hasbro is really going backwards. its really bumming me out that there is never anything cool coming out, in my opinion anyway. its just crap followed by more crap. they need to run the modern line with the movie stuff, i dont even care if they make modern joes and put them on movie cards as long as they start making some quality product, like the new resolute SS and a few other figs like that NF shockwave are pretty cool and the night creeper officer, but its like they have just given up on making new figures. i was so excited about ice viper and then they go and make that weird version of him that looks nothing like him.

I actually like Thunder....Blast...It's good enough for such an abscure character, and the color scheme is damn close. Plus at an alpha class price point, ditch the missles, and another ARMADILLO to add to the ranks.
Score.
The other two, fail...epic.

I for one am glad we're getting Thunder. I just wish he wasn't a repainted Resolute Duke. That and I remember Thunder having less of a lima bean color but instead more of an olive tone...
Anyone else pair him up with Heavy Metal (aka Rampage) for their MBT Mauler crew?

I'm only getting that bastardized Armadillo just so I can put Thunder in my Slugger. The colors actually work for me as I have the 97 one with Repro Original Stickers on it. The tank he comes with will meet an old friend.
