View Full Version : How do you take a 25th Anniversary Joe apart to customize?

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the board and have a couple of questions for the best way to do customizations and thought I'd ask the experts. All my figures are 2007 or newer.

1.) Could someone explain to me the best way to take apart these figures? I know the heads pop off as do the hands but for example is there a way to separate the forearms from the upper arm? I vaguely recall having to unscrew the backs of the old ones to replace a black rubber ring but it seems like a good amount of the new figures don't even have holes for packs. The reason is I'm hoping to repaint some of them and I'm wondering if you can actually separate the parts without badly damaging the figures.

2.) I've seen a lot of early gi joes, guns and equipment on Ebay. I don't have any of my original 80s toys and my childhood memory is a little hazy (honestly last month is a little hazy). How compatiable are the guns and vehicles with the new figures? I imagine the older heads could be cut and drilled to fit the new bodies?

3.) My figures are brand new and I was hoping to try my hand at some stop animation films. For those of you that have had your 25th anniv. figures for a while can they still maintain a pose after a few months or a year? It seems like some of the figures from the comic and TRU packs are already pretty loose and they just were popped from the plastic.

Thanks in advance,

RP
