View Full Version : Resolute Ep 3 Noise on the Flagg?

So episode 3 opens up with the long shot along the Flagg at the water's edge, right before the "camera" moves up to the Flight Deck can hear a metallic chink noise. No other noises before or after, just that real quick "chink".
I don't have video editing software or anything like it, so can't slow it down frame by frame, but it looks when the "chink" is heard that there's a dark spot on the Flagg.
Anyone else notice this or am I just going crazy?

i downloaded the flv files and converted them to mp4s, still much better quality than what's posted online (there's not a decent flv player for mac i'm aware of...) the clank is right before the view switches from waterline to deck right? i think it's just a part of the music, as the tone/tempo/style/whatever switches at that point...
resolute bolo? nice... crazy bastard...

Just sound effects so that we "the audience" knows the Flagg is being repaired

Yeah, at that point. I don't know.. it sounded weird, not part of the music and could swear there was what looked like a damage mark on the side of the Flagg..
Might just be my imagination.

With a shotgun i heard. If you look close your supposed to be able to see a image of a shotgun in the water.

VLC will play those .flv files on a Mac. :)
VLC media player - Overview (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/)
It's also cool to convert those .flv files to .m4v and put them on your iPhone / iPod. Handbrake style. :)

i used visualhub actually. just use handbrake for DVDs. always forget about VLC, not a fan... clunky, just use it for jacket files on DVDs to get the art....

Dude, it's not cool to keep talking about that chink you keep hearing even if it is a dark fast moving metallic robot. They are called Chinese, thank you very much.
Just kidding.

Yes you're correct, its called engine noise from a diesel engine. On carriers there are 8 standby diesel engines that are installed for emergency power. When the Flagg was under attack the reactor shut down and probably kicked off the standby engines.
Another example I could give you would be the Hunt for Red October when they shut down the caterpillar drive because of the coolant leak from the reactor. Reactor scrambled and switched over to diesel power and the first officer complained that they would not be silent.

Right before the explosion in the top right corner in frame 31.9-c there is a munchkin hanging by apparent suicide. I cross analyzed this with google and found it to be the source of the ping that you heard. The ping is munchkin code that states BA WEEP GRANA WEEP MINI BON. This translated into universal dorkton is "Just watch the F'ing cartoon and stop being silly".
Just kidding.
It may be a generic sound effect in the music. I noticed that some of the dialog is actually drowned out by the music at certain times of the movie.
