I found this slow down in Joe waves a good time to start back into Star Wars (Clone Wars), is there any other Joe collectors doing the same... this is the reason I have not even been on the boards (I kind of lost touch with some of you guys).

Nah, i'm pretty new to collecting the 25th line. Theres still a lot i wanna get. I was collecting POTF figures for awhile, haven't even really looked at the Clone War figures.

I wnet from collecting Joes int he 80's and early 90's to collecting Star Wars in 1995 and have been at it ever since. Then the 25th line came along and I now collect both, though Star Wars has slowed considerably to just new figures or better versions of what I already have...
That said, I only collect movie figures and stay away from the Clone Wars. Cool yes, but I prefer to save my money for the live action stuff.
Star Wars is cool man, but for me nothing compares to G.I. Joe! It is what it is.....

but I did get 2 more EELS the other day along with like 12 Star Wars Guys and 3 Star Wars ships... I just Love Toys, I should make that my new License Plate "LUVTOYS" but I am a dude so like that’s a weird plate to have. Even weirder (or cooler) if I was a chick!
I think this Poll will be neck and neck.

I have sort of been simultneously collecting SW and Joes, but with this slow-down in the Joe action, it's given me a chance to catch up on some SW stuff, like a storm/clone trooper collection I've been working on.

I love Star Wars, and I've built up a decent collection since the mid 90's, but even though I think most of the new SW stuff is cool, I'm trying not to let myself get hooked on another line.

I broke from SW collecting when we were buying figures that we never played with. How many adventures can you have with cantina alien #27, who had .3 seconds of screen time? I got sucked back into it today, though. The new Luke / Deena comic pack is awesome. Other than Frigate Luke and Leia, nothing else should get my cash from SW in the near future.

I am tempted briefly every once in while, but no, I probably won't pick anything up. They have a cool Clone Trooper pack at TRU, I noticed, but it was like forty dollars. If I am going to pay that much for a 7 pack, it better have a figure that is bright orange and blue. With a shield and visor. Called Alley Viper.

i started strong in SW line from 06 and 07 but i reduced it to only a handful of nice SW figures for 08 and 09.that was after local toy shops began to bring in 25th GI Joe line.

Star Wars, Transformers, Gi Joe and MOTUC are my main focus in collecting with random figs here and there.
I stopped collecting Star Wars for the time being mostly focusing in exclusives.
Transformers, I limited myself to G1 figures (mostly reissued that I was able to get retail). I did pre order MP Grim but with a baby on the way I had to let him go.....for now anyway. I wish the would do 25th Megatron G1 gun.
Gi Joe, I mostly picked up the figs I remember having as a kid and a few I wanted, but never got. I also picked up a few that I just liked a whole lot.
MOTUC, I am just flat out going to try to get them all. I just remember having all kinds of fun when I was a kid with these figs.
Now all I need are some Thundercats.

i started off collecting transformers. only the G1 stuff. there's a couple of stores in town that sold them used and i got hooked. now i collect gi joes and have no interest in my transformers. i was actually thinking of taking them to one of those stores i mentioned to see if i can trade them for joes. never been into star wars. not even as a kid

Been collecting joes and SW at same time. Now I'm collecting the vintage joes, vintage and current motu/motuc, Clone Wars and such. The joe line have slowed down a lot here where I'm at and I still can't find those damned elusive new planes! In the meantime while I have almost all the joes, I have been collecting the clone wars and am about to be caught up. Prolly won't collect the movie line until I see how they are in person and that's where ill make my decision. I sure hope that Hasbro hasn't decided to stop the 25th line....

Star Wars will always be my first love (blasphemy I know). It was always my favorite toy as a kid and still is to this day. I only collect OT figures though so that makes it less expensive for me to collect both SW and Joes. SW, Joes and He-Man....those are my favorite 3 in that order.

First Transformers and Gi Joe in the 80's and early 90's, then Star Wars, but since the 25th line came, I said good bye to Star Wars, the new versions are cool, but it makes me mad they always come with a better version of the previous figure.

I went from Collecting the 30th Anniversary SW to GI Joe......I have great Versions of all the SW guys and dont really see how they could get better.....And yall think joe is bad about over doing SE, CC, Duke....he they release the same Vader over and over all the time......and its not really bad till they release the swivel arm one instead of the far better one with arm articulation.
Been collecting star wars since POTF2 started, star wars is a line I phase in and out of allot. I only collect original trilogy releated stuff so when the focus is on prequels i fade out. But right now there are some OT waves hitting so i'm snatching them up.

I'm using this "down time" to collect 12 inch sideshow Joe stuff instead. Yeah, they're expensive, but when u add up the cost of all those new figs and vehicles we were buying up a few months ago, collecting sideshow is comparatively cheaper on a paycheck-to-cost monthly ratio.

I collected all of it (SW, Joe and TF) back in the day. Now, as for the new stuff, I only really collect Joes and TFs, and even there, TF classics. Still got a long way to go to have everything I want from both lines. And I STILL want the vintage I'm missing from both lines.
As for my SW collecting, I was getting the PoTF stuff, but sold most of it a couple of years back, cheap. Now, as far as SW goes, I'll get droids and the OCCASSIONAL figure, not counting the ones I get for customs.
The only other lines I've been buying, really, is the build'n'brawl figures and Marvel legends (and some [5] universe)/ the occassional DC universe 6"ers.

i sold ALL my sw stuff save for my 3 xbox games n guides and 3 customs from KOTOR2. I gave up on star wars to focus on joe and with joe going away until GOD KNOWS WHEN..it leaves me open..but i dont see myself going back to sw...too expensive for their shit and the quality just aint there any more. plus the animated stuff is too brittle and lanky and doesnt look good to me.

My son is really the driving force on getting SW stuff. I dont really have any for my collection. I'm more tempted by the Marvel figures because of thier good articulation. I dislike the SW figures because of the crappy articulation. However there was a Darth Maul and General Grievous in my son's Easter Basket. Thought a guy who looks like the devil in an Easter Basket was kinda ironic...

Sadly I have been picking up SW figs again, I guess my retirement was short lived. I have also merged back into the vintage Joe ring. This time I plan to limit myself to 88 and up figs and selected vehicles. I had everything once before and I do not plan to go that rout again.

Since Lucas has paid an awful lot for his "lack of vision" in both the 80s and the 90s, he has opened the flood gates and is releasing everything he can.
Between TFs Batman and G.I. Joes, i can't keep up with SW.
also, i just don't have the space.
even if i did, i may just limit myself to the Movie vehicles.

I am doing the same tihing with the Joe stuff i got.
bought the Rattler and Conquest cheap at retail while i could, waiting on other 25th vehicles.
i do have one regret.
in the 90s, i bought a couple of Spawn figures as desk decorations and went overboard collecting them.
should have bought one or two i liked, and spent the rest of the money on SW....

The Clone Wars cartoon is so cool IMO that I was simply compelled to start buying CW figures. I bought Rex, Cody, a 212 and a Space Trooper and a few others a couple of months ago planning to open them all up later. But when I was playing with my nephews Clone Wars figures I found the leg articulation to be simply horrible; they could only swivel... if that.
After that I decided to just keep my CW figs MOC; then when I saw the new Joe and Cobra 7 packs I returned my CW figs to Target so I could have enough money to get the new Joe stuff. LOL. I did keep my Ahsoka and Padme CW figures though and will buy any future Ahsoka and Padme figures that come out. And if I ever see a Captain Rex in the new Star Wars packaging I might pick him up again since his character only appears in this new Clone Wars franchise.

Hell no I haven't gone over to the dark side. I always hated Star Wars and always will. If Hasbro wants my money it's gonna be through G.I.Joe and only through G.I.Joe. I've been collecting Joe since '83 and that's it. Yeah I have the 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime but everything else in my toy collection is G.I. Joe. I will never get into another toy line just to spend my money. This Joe dry spell has actually helped my other love, MOVIES, can't get enough of these awesome Blu-Ray movies.

The new card art and packaging that the Star Wars figures will get for the new waves looks so cool IMO that I think it will be impossible for me to resist them once they're on the pegs; most especially when there are only ROC movie figs to compete with them. LOL.
And I think The Legacy Collection is getting the boot, which IMO is a good thing because all they do is clog the pegs where I am at. But there has been a flood of Clone Wars revision waves recently so that's awesome because it defeats the scalpers. I went to TRU on Wednesday and they had 2 Rexs and 4 Codys on the pegs... that's awesome.

I started collecting vintage Star Wars waaaay back in the ´80s, then discovered the Joes and traded all my Star Wars for Joes from a friend.
Then, fell in love with the new Star Wars toys and started to army build the clones from Ep II and III (and all the "Super Articulated" Star Wars characters) but came back to Joe since the 25th showed up.

Yah, but don't the Clone Troopers look like Clone Troopers regardless? As for me I would never buy the realistic looking figs, but would definitely get the animated style ones. IMO the realistic looking Padmes were horrible, but the Clone Wars one looked great. Plus I love the Jedi armor look in the Clone Wars cartoon compared to their regular Jedi robes found in the movies.

I thought this question was directed at those of us who went backwards in the time line as kids. No, I did not go back to collecting SW figures, because I never stopped collecting them. I do not collect anything from the prequels or the Clone Wars cartoons. But, I do buy 1 of pretty much anything that is from the Original Trilogy and any updates to vintage figures.

SW is an epic saga and a great storyline. That said, I haven't had the figures since I was about 4 or 5 (Originals) however, I've never had the desire to get more. I remember grabbing a few darth maul figures when episode 1 came out, but G.I. Joes have always been the shizzle for me.

I'm so glad I got away from SW after the Ep I figures first hit. It just seems like wave upon wave of the exact same stuff only in different packaging or variations on the same molds. There has to be 50 different paint jobs for the Ep III trooper and probably twice that for R2-D2 and his color variations. And then you have Anakin, Anakin with robes, Anakin now with more articulation!, shirtless Anakin (for the ladies), Anakin on the rag, BBQ'd Anakin, etc, etc. I know we get similar with Stormshadow and the rest, but it just seems amplified with SW. Joe collecting can become hectic sometimes, but SW is freaking rediculous.
Anyway, to answer the original question, no, I stuck with Joe :)
Option "C" for me: whatever else looks interesting. Fortunately, it seems like whenever one line slows down, another one puts out a bunch of stuff that looks good so I transition over. Star Wars has gotten too expensive and thin product-wise so I haven't bought much there (not to mention I'm irritated about their articulation cutbacks also), but Transformers and its associated third-parties have had some good stuff and that's where most of my moolah has gone lately.

Well, if you look at the fact that none of us "need" any of this stuff.....
I agree, though, that some people buy just to buy, and that's not good. However, some have to choose between two lines they really like, and when one line has a break in the action, it frees the wallet up a little to catch up on the other line.
Myself, I'm very selective with Joe and SW collecting, so it's usually not a problem for me, but I've noticed that when there is less Joe stuff out there, I do take the opportunity to snag a few SW figs I've been eyeing.

I actually went from SW to GI Joe. I only know the movie characters, all this extended universe and other series is way over my head. Once I got all the main characters, I didn't know what else to do.

I went from Joe to Star Wars back in 1995, and then quit about the same time as you did.
The thing that really killed my enthusiasm for SW was when I realized I literally had a box full of nothing but Luke in his Tatooine outfit. And most of the figures were the same mold with just slight differences.

Yes, I have to admit that I did make the switch to Star Wars, back in 1977 when GI Joe was no longer being produced. It was a dark time in my life. 5 long miserable years of coameing thru yard sales and flea markets trying to get some relief.
But I kicked the habit in 1982 with the introduction of ARAH and have been clean and sober ever since.

I was huge on SW in 1995 and through the release of Episode 1... Then somewhere down the line took a break. When I came back to it they released all these amazing articulated new versions of SW characters. It really pissed off. Why couldn't they have been that way when I was so into it!! I spent years and thousands of dollars on my highly cherished POTF versions of SW figures. When i saw the new articulated and detailed versions my passion for my collection faded. I went from in love to upset and mad.
Because of this I will never collect Star Wars again!!!! 'spits'

I never could get into star wars toys, never really liked the movies that much to begin with and the toys have terrible articulation. They are just not for me. GI JOE is a much superior toy. If star wars had the same articulation as joes, i might have some storm troops. The only other toy line i dabble in is transformers.

I have a friend who feels the need to buy everything/anything Joe he sees. No matter if he needs it or not.
We were Joe hunting one day, and he saw some ROC stuff at TJ maxx. He bought them all, for what? no idea....
in case he could use them for customs one day..
I think he may be a hoarder..
I love him to death, but that stuff could have gone to a kid or something, or someone who really wanted it for their collection.

Yes...and no. Back in 1997, I started collecting Joes, and, in 99, I started collecting SW. Since then, I have gone through periods where I have bought GI Joes, SW Figs, Or both on a regular basis. This year, due to the fact the grocery store I work at has gotten bought out by another grocery chain and I'll be outta a job in 2 months (March), I have slowed the GI Joe collecting and halted the SW collecting. At least untill I find another job.

Actually I started out Star Wars in the 70's / 80's went over to Joes till 1991/1992. Went into comics. Got back into Star Wars in 1995 and still am but seriously reduced in 2008. Joes in 2000's. Big Time Joes in 2007 25th and still am but again, serious reduced for ROC and Cherry Pick Retaliation but most after wave 2 are pretty cool ?

I actually did buy a lot more Star Wars stuff this year, but only when it was on sale, on clearance, or used stuff cheap. Oh Yeah, only Original Trilogy stuff, other than a Darth Maul and a Jango Fett. Most of my non-Joe action figure dough went to Marvel figures.

I hadn't bought any since whenever EpisodeIII Cam out, and even then, I only bought Chewbacca (my favorite character) I started buying them again when I found a guy at a convention selling loose figs for dirt cheap. Then not later, stores started clearancing older figures out to make room for Phantom Menace 3D stuff, and the vintage carded figs started showing up at Marshalls/TJ Maxx.

Still finding POC in Walgreen's. Just picked up a Jungle BAT & Cobra Trooper (w/ double silenced pistols & razor wire) for $9.99 apiece yesterday. Sometimes the hunt for stuff just keeps it interesting. I'm sticking with the Joes.

I collected both as it was.I used to let CW stuff build up and then get caught up.I found it more fun that way......but with Joe stuff I had to get it the moment my guy on Ebay had them......
I remember ordering Airtight,Lifeline,Law & Order & Techno Viper just before Christmas 2011 and paying for express mail to ensure I had them.I was crazy excited.

Since the GI Joe line dried up I turned to Marvel Universe and movie figures. Never tried to get into Star Wars action figures. I've only collected LEGO Star Wars stuff and I haven't bought much of that lately since most sets are re-hashes of stuff they've already done.

in this time frame I have started to really want to pick up a modern version of all the orginal starwars figures. I did a similar project with JOE. I looked at the old starwars collecting pics and there were only 75 or so figures for all 3 movies. Hell 75 aint nothing! based on how much shit most of us buy. so Any way I am trying to do that now. I dont care its form POTF or vintage collection.
I think when we get to the 3d release of the good movies starting with a new hope I will really be into buying starwars. I like the new figures but the classic movies will really get me back in it!

I can't remember if I had Star Wars figures or Gi Joe figures first. I remember loving SW from an early age. I was in Kindergarten in '81 and I remember getting a SW pop-up book through a book order at school. I also remember going to my aunt's house to watch SW on HBO for the first time ever. I clearly remember being in first grade in 1982 and getting Breaker for my birthday. But I don't remember my first SW figure or when I got it.
I DO remember, though, and will never forget, that I though Joes were way superior to SW, mainly because of articulation. And so without a doubt, Joes have been number 1 with me always, although I do have a special place in my heart for SW.

I know people that don't even know or even care what Star Wars is.
I like almost any fictional toy universe; TMNT, G.I. Joe, Halo, and Star Wars. I usually keep this info on the down low unless people actually want to know more about me. I never hold it against anyone for not caring about what I like. What I like is what I like.

I was just telling my wife this morning that I like the Tf movies but I never really cared for the cartoon, the comics or the toys. As a matter of fact, I really only like TFs in their vehicle mode, not the robot mode. I only have one TF, and that is Soundwave. I thought it was frickin' cool that he had extra tapes you could get for him.
As a kid, I liked motu, Mask and tmnt but had very few of the toys, and have no interest in them at all now except mask. If mask was re-released, I'd be all over that.

I went from collection McFarlane Spawn to 3.75" Star Wars.
After I've built my small army for a while, that POC Cobra Viper tempted me to buy it.
In the end, I collect Spawn, Star Wars, and GI Joe. *sighI
