GeekSix placed the 1980s cartoons (http://www.geeksix.com/?p=1303) at the top of their top five list on 80s cartoons. Some solid candidates on there, I remember them all. I also remember others that I would have added to it.

I agree with all of the votes except for "Thundercats."

I am sorry, but "Thundercats" over "Masters of the Universe?"

What kind of drugs are those Geeksix guys on?

I agree on that list, probably my top 5 as well minus D&D (even though I liked it a lot). Probably replace it with Masters of the Universe.

G.I JOE was the #1 cartoon of the 80's !!!!!

Well, what about Space Ghost? Everyone knows who Space Ghost is, they just may not remember him flying around space in a ship with a couple of kids.

I'm pretty sure Space Ghost was a late 60's/early 70's creation, although he was milked for re-runs up through the 80's. For instance, the "all-star" Hanna-Barbera "Space Stars" featuring Space Ghost came out in 1981 or so.

This is a pretty weak list and probably took the author all of 15 minutes to write.

My votes would go to "DuckTales", "Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends" and "Robotech:Macross.

DuckTales because it was SO well done and remained true to the old Carl Barks comics.

Spidey and Friends because the dialogue between the 3 main characters was usually witty and entertaining. Also did a good job of mixing in a variety of Marvel characters and concepts.

The first Robotech series, or "Macross" was good for all the combat scenes and the on-going soap opera stuff. It even had...*gasp*...inter-racial couples! It also had THE darkest ending of any cartoon: the Earth gets blown up by the bad guys.

Honorable mention would go to "Spiral Zone" because it was also so....dark. People actually died and the world had been taken over by the bad guys.
