FYI, you can order the Retaliation Cobra Commander on Toysrus.com. If you order it in the store, you do not have to pay shipping. The one pictured on the website is the blue one. I figured I'd take a chance-worst case the lady at the store said if it's not the blue one, I can return it to the store with the packing slip for store credit. I might even open it if it is the black one. Figured it was worth a shot. Hopefully this helps even anyone that hasn't found either CC that wants one.

Supposedly the rumor (posted on the front page a week or so ago) is that Hasbro did make a whole lot of these figures, it's just that they only got them out to Dollar General so far. Scuttlebutt is that they will be flooding in huge numbers before too long. I'll believe it when I see it though.

In the meantime - if you can grab up a set of those figures for me or other tankers, I know we'd appreciate it!

Fitchburg Target had a Cobra trooper, Zartan and black CC on Friday night. I was less than impressed with the Cobra Trooper in hand. Zartan was ok, but not something I'll pick up. They had the two different 3-packs too.

Actually, today after work I was gonna just drive by the Green Bay Kmart but decided to stop. Right in front a blue Cobra Commander!!!
I could not believe my eyes-I thought my chances of finding this one at retail have come and gone. Not only that, but the GI Joe figs are on sale for 7.99! On a side note, there were no Joe or Cobra Troopers or Red Ninjas. All the other Joe stuff was on sale if anyone is interested. 11.99 for the Fangboat and Ninja 4x4, and the cycles were !0 something.

You may want to check your TJ Maxx's. Today I found a Crimson Hiss tank for $16.99 at the Green Bay TJ Maxx. I left the VTOL Jet from the renegades series.
I was also at the Green Bay West Fleet Farm this weekend and on my way to the birdseed I looked at their leftover toys and they must have found some POC figures in back. They had about 3 POC Wave 3 Snake Eyes figures for $5.99 each. I left them all but they are there to be had if anyone is missing that figure.
Otherwise, I haven't seen anything new for JOE stuff(or Star Wars for that matter)lately.

I found some of the DG figures at the Green Bay East DG last week. Picked up a Cobra Trooper,left the rest. The Westside DG got the figures in but sold out quickly. So they are out there.

if you want them and don't want to have to order them(or keep checking stores) them your going to need to travel to a area that isn't surrounded by collectors and scalpers or get really lucky

Unfortunately stores in my area don't have them and aren't able or willing to order them for me. I finally just broke down and bought a set off of eBay. I managed to get a good deal - essentially the price is if I paid cost plus shipping and threw in $15 for the guy to hunt them down for me. I'm totally okay with that slight mark-up.

I agree about finding the Joes at some of the smaller town Dollar Generals, they don't seem to be as picked over.
The K-Mart in Green Bay has thier remaining Retailiation stuff 50% off. Vehicles for $8,figures for $5. They are located in the clearance aisle toward back of the toy department.
K-mart did their yearly reset and the Joe stuff is gone from the figrue aisle.

I've been hitting the Dollar Generals in Sun Prairie, Pardeeville and Montello all summer (most recently was Monday) and none of them have had any DG Joes.

I'm too stubborn to give up entirely - but I haven't been wasting gas driving around looking day after day, either. I'll check when it's convenient. The only ones I really want are the black Cobra Trooper (multiples) and the Duke and Storm Shadow repaints from the 2nd wave. I'll cherry-pick here and there for custom fodder, but those three are the only 'must haves' for me.

LOL - what do you mean 'if' I want to open it? The majority of Joe collectors I know are openers. I don't begrudge anyone that chooses to keep their stuff carded, but I truly don't understand it, either.

Could it not be that there are just plenty of Joe fans? The whole 'scalper epidemic' is really overblown. More often than not, the reason I can't find figures is that the distribution is lousy or there are just other people that wanted them. There may truly be some scalpers that live near you, but by and large, the Joe community is pretty quick to start screaming about scalpers.

The reason that I typically want multiples is exactly what Humpty said - troop building mainly. Cobra, IG's, BATs - how much of an enemy would they be if there were only one. Also - and I imagine that what you may be getting at - is why multiples of each character or of individual characters. There are lots of reasons! Perhaps my favorite character is shipwreck and I want one on my display shelf, my desk at work, and a carded one hanging on the wall. Additionally, many people in the community are customizers and may want multiples of a particular figure because they make a good base for another character or characters.

Personally - I'm mostly an opener. In the majority of cases where I haven't yet opened something is simply because I haven't had time or the display space for it. Often I'll pick something up, thinking that I'd really like to display that or customize it, only to re-discover it a year later and sell it. It's easier to make your money back if it's unopened.

Scalpers - in all my years of toy collecting as an adult (I'll say about 12 to 13 years now) I've only ever personally encountered a certain scalper at a store about twice. This is someone that made a bee-line for the toy department and bought each and every thing on the shelf of a particular kind without regard to variety - just grabbing them all and putting them in a basket or cart. The last time I ran into this was at least 6 years ago. Given the amount of time that I spend shopping for toys and hitting stores - if scalpers were the problem locally I would run into them more often and start recognizing the same people. That's just not the case.

Jason, I think there is a lot of us in this area. Between that and bad distribution it's slim pickings. I hit the Appleton area regularely and see things gobbled up pretty fast. My wife looks for stuff in GB where she works all the time and rarely finds anything.

I've been collectings toys as an adult for about 15 years, first Star Wars, then GI JOE when the 25th line popped up. I've seen some Hot Wheels scalpers aroud and not any action figure ones that I noticed. I noticed it more when I worked retail in college.
I think distribution is the issue, for GI JOE and now Star Wars. Retailers are being very tight on ordering stuff. I've resorted to ordering stuff on BBTS to avoid wasting gas locally looking for stuff.
I do have a store report, I was at the DG in Clintoville and they still had Cobra Commander, Storm Shadow and Snakes Eyes at the store.

I know this isn't GI JOE either, but did anyone spot the TRU exclusive battle packs yet? I saw the Yavin Pilot set at the Appleton TRU only but I hoping to get the Ewok set too since they are running a Buy one get one 1/2 off deat on Star Wars toys.

it wazhowa in the dells this weekend and i just came back from the flea wasn't a lot of joe stuff but i did see v1(yes the straight arm ones) short fuze and breaker and there was some gear with them too(helmets mortar and some other weapons with them and short fuze thumb was gone both guys where in a bag) and wild weasel legs(just the legs) in a 1 dollar bin
some of the 12 inch stuff
and MOC v1 shipwreak(80$) and MOC v2 road block(85$) both i would say that they would have to be on the low end of the MOC ratings

It's very cool to see in person. I've seen The Flagg loose in person once. Back in 95 for former GB East Prange Way was turned into a flea market area. One seller had a loose Flagg for sale. It sat awhile so I got to see it a couple times. The Flagg is not a vehicle I'd want. I also saw the boxed Flagg back in 85 at the GB TRU. The box is huge, it took up most of a 4ft section of shelving space.

Sorry to double dip on posts but I wanted to get a store report out about the Green Bay K-Mart. They got in the vintage Ewok Scout and AT-ST driver 2 packs. They were 14.99 each. I took one of each and there were 2 left of each as of 1pm cdt on 9/16. Also, I saw a new wave of Avengers figures that I had not seen before. They had a Nick Fury figure, Chitauri figure and Black Widow figures. They were 9.99 each but if anyone is looking for these new figure, thought I'd get the word out.

Phantom Menace line gummed up the entire vintage wave and feel like it killed the distribution to our area...Looking for the Darth Malgus fig as well...that case has like 4 figs I would be interested so may end up breaking down and buying the case, just hate to be stuck with 5 figs that I have zero interest in....

I agree completly about all the Episode I crap that has clogged the pegs for months now. Stores order very little new product. Hasbro must not have a very long memory but Episode I toys were blown out after the intitial hype wore out when they first came out in 99. Hasbro put the good selling Clone Wars line and Vintage line on the back burner while trying sell 10 year old toys very few people want.

Out of three stores, I found Black Troopers at two of them. But I couldn't say no to my kids when they suddenly decided they wanted the black Troopers. So instead of three, I still have one.

If I could find 'em I'd build up a squad of the black troopers - they are a good figure and I love that they start black - same with the CC figure - makes for some great bases for customs if you're going with a black or dark figure.

For anyone that is interested, there is still one lonely skystriker at the GB TJ MAXX. The Big lots in GB got in a small amount of PTE stuff, some 3 packs, figure with an item and the Patrol boats. I'm hoping they'll get a shipment of the larger stuff closer to Christmas.

Yeah Toys R Us is a joke...Never mind the one guy that shows up every day looking for McFarlane NFL figs. I just about have given up any hope on finding any Packers chase figs. Actually, the only Gi Joe purchase I've made in the last couple months was a 25th Matt Trakker at a comic show. I would like to get an extra DG Cobra Trooper to open but they are all being hoarded along with the DG Dukes. Ya never know Siegie1129, we may have crossed paths or may yet! One more thing-on a side note my wife and I went to Wausau a few weeks ago and at Walmart I saw some newer Star Wars figs in retro packaging that I've never seen in Green Bay before. Jasonx13, were you at Fleet Farm right about when they opened at 7am? I saw someone with GI JOE figures in thier hand when I was over by the SW figures. I was had a Packers Jacket on. That would be cool if we unknowingly met.

I went to the East Side FleetFarm after the West side. They had no GI Joe stuff. I didn't expect any since there is nothing available at retail now.
I picked up some Vintage 501rst clones and a Rebpublic Sub. I was really hoping that they would have the Republic drop ship but they didn't. Still haven't seen that one at retail yet.

Hit up most of Madison today. West side and Fitchburg Targets have W1 and the Delta vehicles; no Joe Troopers, Cobra Troopers, or Red Ninjas left though (I picked up one of each). Hilldale and Sun Prairie Targets have nothing. West side, Stoughton Road, and South Town Wal Marts have nothing, but you can see where they're going to go. Sun Prairie WalMart had Wave 2 but not much left between Joel/Ian, Don, myself, and Greg. They did have the Wave 2 3-packs, but for $24. TJ Maxx had nothing, same with TRU - no Joe Kreos yet.

Pickings are slim in Green Bay. Nothing so far at Target, Wal-Mart in De Pere got in wave 2. ( I only saw the remnants of it today). I picked up Firefly and Storm Shadow from Wave 2 at the Walgreens last week at the one on Mason and Oneida. It doesn't seem that the stores in Green Bay are doing their resets yet, maybe later this week.

Nope, I haven't seen any DG repaints at Dollar General or the TJ Maxx in Green Bay. I'm not really interested in them so I'm not searching very hard though.

When I was at the Green Bay TRU I spoke with one of the daytime employees and asked what was up with the lack of GI JOE Stuff. She said that they had not done thier boys action figure reset yet and the GI JOE stuff should be in the reset. Of course she didn't know when the reset but honestly she probably really didn't know. So it will be a waiting game on new GI JOE figrures at the GB TRU.
I also checked the GB Kmart and no joes. It looked like they did a reset and there was no space for Joe stuff in the aisle.
I wonder if Shopko will get in the Joe stuff? It will be expensive but it would be nice to see more stores carry the line.

Toys R Us in Green Bay has always been lackluster-in my opinion. I just don't understand. I stopped @ Shopko on Military ave. after work and nothing. Are they gunshy after clearancing out so much ROC stuff? At least Walmarts seem to be getting the new stuff. Now I regret not picking up a Cyber Ninja and Alley Viper. I know I will run into them again...

Shopko has been steadiliy decreasing the size of the Toy Department ever since the late 90s. And I don't think the losses they incurred from ROC helped either. I occasionally find Star Wars stuff at Shopko but no GI JOE since ROC.
Also compared to the Appleton TRU, the Green Bay TRU doesn't have the same selection IMO either. They used to have such a great selection of stuff but that was back when I was a kid in the 80's and everybody had a great toy selection.

I've seen damaged figures at that Wal-Mart and TRU before. Especially with the Vintage Star Wars figures. It's an annoying passive agressive thing to do.
In other news, I drove down to Appleton with my wife to look at some flooring. While we were in Appleton I got to look at the TJ MAXX, Wal-Mart and TRU by the Fox River Mall too. I got an Alley Viper at the Wal-Mart. The TRU had leftovers of the wave 2 case but I did find 2 Dr Who figures I was looking for. Finally I found the AAT Tank at TJ MAXX. Pretty good score for Appleton.
As far as GI JOE stuff goes, it doesn't seem like the retailers are re-stocking the Retaliation stuff which is a bummer.

Picked up a vintage Hisstank for $20 at the toy show as well as some vintage Star Wars figs(loose). Almost picked up a Gi Joe Devilfish(complete) for $20 but didn't. Saw alot of cool stuff, pretty limited for Joe stuff except for the one table. Replay Toys had some cool stuff at their table. I guess I would go again next year.

I went to the toy show in Green Bay a little after noon. Didn't see any tankers. The show was bigger than I anticipated. There was a little bit of GI JOE stuff and some Star Wars stuff. I didn't pick up anything though.
Since I was on the East side of Green Bay I hit the East Wal-Mart, Target and a couple Walgreens.
East Walmart got in a wave 1 GI JOE case, I picked up a red ninja. They also had 1 each of the wave 2 3packs.
Target East had the remnants of wave 2. There was a Joe Colton, Lady Jaye and Flint left. None of the troopbuilders were left.
Walgreens on University still has 3 ROC Blowtorches and the Walgreens on Mason/Main has a ROC blowtorch and Renegades firefly.
The Walgreens across from the Eastside Target had a Retaliation Firefly and GI JOE trooper that I picked up.
Glad to hear that somepeople found some stuff at the green bay show. I think I'll go next year.

The Walgreens on Military and Shawano and Oneida by Pier 1 imports also each had a Black Cobra Commander. The one on Mason st by pier 1 also had a Cobra Trooper. Otherwise the Walgreens I was at on the west side of Green Bay recently have had Fireflys, Roadblocks and Storm Shadows.
Considering the movie is coming out at the end of this month, isn't the GI Joe selection dissapointing? None of the stores are setting up big displays of toys for the movies. Man, the retailers must have gotton burned badly on ROC. They are playing it real safe with inventory for Retaliation.

I'm sure the delay didn't help. But the displays I'm seeing are on part with what they were last year before the delay was announced. Not huge displays, but those are pretty rare these days anyway, usually only 1 or 2 per year it seems (big one currently being TMNT).
