150 Target didnt have shit and 150 Walmart is in the middle of their reset, no PoC singles but they did have HISS/Snow Cat and the smaller vehicles. No new SW except for the vintage ones

Fultondale Target had nothing. At all. We did see the peg tags, but I do not recall seeing any vehicles.
Trussville WM is resetting now but dwindled the RoC figures down to four pegs, no shelf space for vehicles.

From what was discussed in the thread they're decent, but the merchandise usually comes poorly packaged with bubbles/cards/boxes beat to hell. As long as you're not a MoC/MISB collector I've heard they're good.

Also, I heard their customer service blows, and if you have to return something it's a bit of a headache.

Again, this is all 2nd hand knowledge based on the thread from a few weeks ago.

Off subject, I'm sure you guys have heard about the Home Intruder Song guy, Antoine Dodson. Well, have you heard that he's been making a ton of money because of it?

I bought my last mini-mate set from a store today (The Back to the Future Dolorean and Marty McFly) as everything coming out after this release is covered free for me as an Art Asylum employee.

I can't believe I passed on Nick Fury and the drones but I just was not impressed with the set...especially for $24.99.

I'll wait for the Target 3 packs for $14.99....3 figures for $5 each is a steal.


Ended up spending almost all day at the Space and Rocket Center. I went to the ticket office asking if I could just come into the gift shop to buy 2 or 3 of the Star Wars lapel pins exclusive to Huntsville S&RC...and not only did the lady let me in for free since I was a 501st member...but I eneded up getting into the display for free.

The Huntsville area is predominately Hot Wheels and Star Wars fans. As a matter of fact, the only other persons I've seen go after GI Joes with any furvor is GI C, nort, and myself. I know there are others around, but none of them are at TRU on truck days. Granted I've heard Target has a few guys that show up at opening every day and I'm sure Walmart has them too, but it isn't too bad since I'm still able to find stuff every once in awhile on my way home from work.

The biggest issue with Huntsville is we tend to get merchandise a little later than B'ham.

EDIT: Just to throw this out there, I have a MISB Walmart Exclusive AT-ST that I decided I don't want. I have it posted on eBay for $44.99 BIN w/ Best Offer. I paid $35 for it, but I'm willing to let it go for $30. If anyone is interested let me know, and I'll cancel the auction. I bought it thinking I would display it with the AT-AT, but I changed my mind.

Probably desert camo M1A1 Abrams, because I haven't seen them do any other main battle tanks. I'd rather have the green camo, since I already have a M2A3 Bradley with that coloring, but I'll take what I can get.

Really? I was there yesterday, and the spot was empty. I asked a woman scanning the tags, and she said she wasn't sure when they'd get them and that they don't get trucks on Wednesday nights....

If they're anything like the M2A3 Bradley, Joes fit well enough. The only issue with the Bradley is the troop storage area. It has seats for 4(?) soldiers, but I can only get 2 in there. It would fit more, but Joes are a little too tall for the compartment. Fortunately, I have had no issues with putting Joes in the turret stations.

Not that I doubted you, but I stopped by Target to check on that Abrams, and HOLY CRAP THAT THING IS HUGE. I've seen pictures of it on the internet, but never saw one in person so I had no idea of the exact size of it. I pulled the Bradley out to make sure it was the same size as the one I have, and it is. I guess I never knew that M1A1s were THAT big.

Given the assumption that the Abrams is of the same quality as their Bradleys, that tank is well worth the $30 price tag.

Their resolution to the problem was to create an invitation only Sightings thread. Now Huntsville (and from what BFJ says "Tha Gump") don't have issues, but obviously B'ham does. So, my question to you guys is this, do you want to do something similar here and create an invite only forum to post our sightings?

Cray suggested Apple Barrel Acrylic paints that are sold at Walmart and Hobby Lobby when I asked the same question. I've been really happy with them so far, and they're relatively inexpensive. Colors match Hasbro colors really well too.

Also, make sure to get acrylic brushes, and don't buy cheap ones. Cheap brushes will shed their bristles, and it's really, really, really annoying. I think the brushes I picked up were Rubbermaid brushes, but I know they had blue handles.

Finally, I suggest getting some kind of brush on lacquer. It'll keep the acrylic paint from getting scratched off accidentally.

Np, however I got the brand (but not the color of the handles, they are blue) of brushes wrong. It was the Rubbermaid ones that were crap. The brand I bought that I liked are Simply brand, and it was a pack of 10 for $6ish. They should be on the aisle with the paints.

There's a vintage Jango Fett coming out? Personally, I don't collect many figures outside of the OT. I try not to acknowledge the prequels unless I absolutely have to.

Side note, did you guys know that Alan Dean Foster, one of my favorite authors, co-wrote Star Wars: A New Hope? When asked if it was difficult for him to see Lucas get all the credit for Star Wars, Foster said "Not at all. It was George's story. I was merely expanding upon it. Not having my name on the cover didn't bother me in the least. It would be akin to a contractor demanding to have his name on a Frank Lloyd Wright house.

The reason I bring this up is because I feel that the prequels could have been just as good as the original trilogy had Lucas allowed constructive criticism like he did for the originals.

I've only seen one WM inside Huntsville carry the PoC figures, and they don't have much left.

One Target (Jones Valley) has restocked their figures. I didn't go down there since it's so far, but the associate on the phone said all they had left was Duke, and Snake Eyes. It had to have been a restock, because they had zero figures 2 days ago. I guess it could have been a return, but it had to have been a big return since it was roughly 6 figures between the two characters.

I hope they get more in before Wave 2, because I want another set.

Does anyone have an opened SDCC Spiderman that can give me feedback? I'm wondering if it lives up to the hype I've been hearing. Are there any Spiderman figures comparible to it? I really like the flexible web he comes with, and would like to have a version that comes with it. However, $10 + $6 shipping is kinda steep, and if there's a retail figure close enough I'll just grab that one.

EDIT: I would collect a lot more Marvel Universe figures, but a lot of them have that stupid neck that jutts out. Especially the Iron Man figures that you find in the MU line.

If anyone in the Cullman/Huntsville/Athens area goes to Walmart today, ask them if the DC has anymore PoC figures. I was there on Friday, and the guy told me their DC only had 3 cases. If those 3 cases were sent to Athens, then I'll stop checking the Walmarts in Huntsville for the figures.

While I really do enjoy my job and it's within my field of study, it still frustrates me that my parents didn't tell me the WHOLE story about potential careers. All my life I was told that you HAD to go to college to make good money. What they should have said is, "you have to go to college to make good money without having to break your back." :D I personally know guys living in North Alabama that make 2x what I do with a GED, but they work their butts off doing it.

I make decent money, but my take home pay is about the same as when I was working for Lowes. The only difference is I have health insurance, and a 401k. The big thing is Rosemarie, and I are really good about staying on a budget.

I think the thing that depresses me the most is that my wife and I owe more in student loan debt than we do on our house. I feel like I will never be able to pay this stuff off. However, I guess I shouldn't really complain since I'm pretty dang happy with how things are right now. It COULD be a whole lot worse... :)

The best thing my parents ever did for me was pay for my college education. Took me a while, but I got through.I do well and so does my wife, who makes within 10k what I do (w/out a degree). I am very proud of her.
My dad does keep harping on me that I need to leave my consulting gig and get a job with EBSCO or AMEREX. But I think with the experience I have built I can run a lit support department and make some good cash.

I knew they didn't, but didn't want to say, "Well, a buddy hid one for me, so no." I helped "look" a bit more, and then he picked up a CC and lamented the absence of AV. I felt giving, so I offered to sell him the one I got yesterday. He said he did not have cash but would get me a figure to trade out. Went to grab a soda, he grabs the one next to the one I picked up, go to checkout.... but I had not picked a figure for him to trade me (?).... so walk to our cars, which were next to each other.

Went to TrU, picked up Rodimus (thanks, EH!), looked through some SW. A guy came walking into the isle, picked up a Slave 1. Saw the Rodimus I had was all, "Dude! Do they have anymore?!" I knew they didn't, but didn't want to say, "Well, a buddy hid one for me, so no." I helped "look" a bit more, and then he picked up a CC and lamented the absence of AV. I felt giving, so I offered to sell him the one I got yesterday. He said he did not have cash but would get me a figure to trade out. Went to grab a soda, he grabs the one next to the one I picked up, go to checkout.... but I had not picked a figure for him to trade me (?).... so walk to our cars, which were next to each other.
I really cannot say way, but I was getting creeped out a bit. Not like he was ghey, or the situation was, but creeped out. Shut up, I cannot explain it.
Handed him the AV, he said, "Well I was gonna get that Transformer for you, I don't have any cash...." So 30 excrutiatingly awkward seconds later, I said, "Okay, yeah, so enjoy." And I left. Out $7 for the AV, but I do not care, I just left.

Bobs is the best comics shop around, he has more back issues than any store in the state we just marked down around 15000 books to $1, and about 5000 $2 books. He does give discounts and pull lists. And he is on Hwy 11 between robuck and trussville. I also have a pull list there and work there so I am pretty biased but it has the best selection of comics in the state. Come by some time and just look around I am sure you or anyone would be happy.

Agreed. Bob is a good guy and I have been a patron there for, geez, 15-20yrs. I have a pull list with all the Joe titles. He has a metric crap-ton of collected trades and back issues. Plus a lot of collectible figures, like the Marvel BaF series.
Plus, when you go there on Free Comic Book Day, Chuck will call you out and say, "Well I guess I know which one YOU'RE here for!"

Dusty is a pretty cool figure. Basic, really, but cool. The barbed wire is not as cool as I had hoped, the weapons are good, the second head is really cool.
Arctic Destro is okay. I got it only for the ice axes. Forgot to try to attach them to him, think I read they go under his arms like Beach's fins or Firefly's arm guards. The head is awfully stiff, seems to be a different grade plastic. The shoulders have an armor-like cap and do not move like on the normal-hinged Joes. Not a fan of the water-shooting feature, but it's significantly better than spring-loaded shooter.
I purchased Zartan about a year ago, so it was a known product for me. The new one does not have the Arnold Vosloo (movie) head, no spring-loadedness (!!), but has two machetes (macheti?) instead of one. The machine gun is great.
Could not force myself to pick up the SE. I have read, though, that it is cooler than expected. I will sometimes pick up a figure just for the accessories -- Pit Commando, Desert SS -- but there wasn't anything with it that I wanted. Besides, the wave 4 SE will be unreal.

Stickered up my Ghost Hawk last night. Ton of stickers. I like the detachable gun and launcher on the belly. May get another one.

I saw Juggernaut about two weeks ago at Target. However, I haven't seen Archangel, Colossus, nor Mystique anywhere. I'm getting close to ordering the set of six from BBTS. The reason I haven't already is because they don't guarantee which version of Havok/Archangel you will get, and I have no interest in the Death variant. Not to mention I don't want Kitty Pryde or the AIM soldier, and I have Juggs already.

Exactly, I wouldn't mind the Death variant if he had the wings. I mean it's the coolest thing about the character, in my opinion.

I was reading a Hasbro MU Q/A where it was mentioned the line had major distribution issues. Hasbro responded by saying that they have plans to alleviate these issues, so I'm trying to stay patient in the hopes we'll eventually see them.

What's weird is the Iron Spider wave follows the Archangel wave, and I've been seeing it everywhere. It's got me a tad bit irritated.

Mystique's Wave is the one following the Iron Spider one, so I haven't started looking for it yet.

I learned the hard way not to trust some people, for the most part, I just buy stuff for customs and not much else. I had some hard family times lately and things are looking better now so I may get back into the swing of things soon.
