It's just some managers don't care while others do. Personally, I would rather have a store that follows the rules, because it's easier to deal with when you know the rules. When you have people doing whatever they want it gets crazy (i.e. B'ham TRU Cluster Fuck).

The assistant manager at the University Target told me they will NOT sell the Star Wars stuff early.

picked up 2 eels, 1 para viper and another ace from biglots.

grabbed a white coat rex, roc para viper and a red hand ninja from a couple of drug stores while I was out earlier today.

I only got the rex for trading purposes. I found the roc para viper by mistake. It was sitting behind some faux-bratz dolls and I never would have looked at the peg but some little girl was rummaging through it and came upon the viper and said, "eww a boys toy" and tossed it aside. LOL

The Unclaimed Baggage stores are in Scottsboro and Boaz. I guess Boaz is close enough to Albertville to count.

Albertville also has a Hudson's Dirty Cheap, which is a salvage store that gets all of Target's/Walmart's junk. =)

I just checked and Boaz also has a Goodwill store....

I think I may take a trip down there this Saturday.

They opened one in Madison, but it's crap. So don't waste your time. I'm not sure about the one in Albertville. My brother is the one that recognized it, because apparently they're awesome in Mississippi. He says the one in southern Mississippi (original store) sells guns for 50% to 90% off. I went to a few yardsales this morning and picked up some nice fodder/goods and books/movies for my daughter. Well I came across a garage sale with a butt load of older joes, most were loose, paint wear and mostly just figure only. some vehicles and a few loose vehicle parts. I asked the guy how much he wanted for the box and he said $20. I got out a 20-bill and went to hand it to him and he said 'no I ment $20 per figure" I almost bitch slapped him. I asked why so much and he stated that since they're vintage he could get that easy on ebay. I almost blew my top but I was polite, I put my money back and said good luck selling those and got in my car and left.

When I got home I opened the Hisstank, put it together, gave it to my son, and had to go back to work. From what I saw it's pretty dang neat.

$20 per figure? You can always tell those that don't really know this stuff, because they see vintage GI Joe and don't take into consideration condition/completeness. I have to admit that I don't know vintage figures that well, because I don't collect them.

My brother said he went to a flea market in Starkville, MS once, and a guy was trying to sell old Atari video games for $30 a piece. My brother said his shock must have showed on his face, because when he put the thing down the vendor got really defensive about them being "collectables". As he walks off he tells the guy "good luck selling those collectables..."

In some ways eBay (and other auction sites), have ruined the flea markets/garage sales. It used to be a way to unload your crap, and now it's another get rich quick scheme.

I asked an associate here in Huntsville to get it for me, and they gave me the street date excuse. I told her that the street date was wrong, and to check. She checked and sure enough they were ok to buy. I picked up Pre Vizsla, and the AT-AT General Veers.

lol. yeah I'm not too keen on paying a mint for vintage. I'm liking the more modern updates. I do have fond memories of my old toys but lets face it, we played with our toys with alot more imagination than kids now, So our figures could have only 5 points of articulation and we were happy. But I do love the modern takes on figures with updating of the molds/articulation/ and re imaginings of older franchises.

They got 1 case of the Bravo vehicles, a good amount of the new Transformers stuff, and 1 case of each of the new Star Wars figures (CW, Vintage, Saga). It was a serious feeding frenzy though, so I'm not sure what's left.

I got the Wolfhound, Hiss, Vintage Collection Veers, and CW Pre Vizsla. I promised GI C the Wolfhound, and the last I saw with the figures they were in a shopping basket. I don't know if they're still there or not.

I am not a big gamer, but I bought WFC at GameStop so I could get Shockwave. And since I am not a big gamer, I do not have an XBox Live account or the antenna to connect it. So. Either I drop $150 more for the wifi antenna and a silver account, or I bought the damn game for nothing.

I fully expected Arcee to start showing up again. The Huntsville TRU got in two or three cases on 3 separate occasions, but I haven't seen another shipment come in yet. I bought one for my son, but that's it. I still have the card with the UPC on it if you want me to post the number I will. It'll have to wait until I get home, but at least with the number you can see if they have an order out for them.

You could ask to have one transferred in. The manager, Alan, here in Huntsville seems to be a pretty good guy. Let me get the number for you, so you can show him exactly what you want.

start hitting up your kmarts. I found alot of joe items from $2.98-$4.99. I left 2 of the roc 4 packs at the one in decatur after buying 3 at $4.99. They seem to be trying to clear out the toy sections. Also wwe bnb wrestlers were $1.99, I know some use these for custom fodder. I didn't find any night ravens for $4.99. I did hear of some people picking them up for that price, Although I personally think the mold sucks, I'd pick one up for that price.

I also found this huge nfl football robot for $9.99 and thought it'd make a good heavy B.A.T unit, but when they rang it up, It scanned for $.01. She had to call a manager and they asked how much it displayed for and I told them $9.99. The manager ended up just selling it to me for $2.99. that was mighty nice of her.

Big thanks to Brcall for the Wolf Hound.I never had the Snow Cat growing up.I only had the Tiger force version.Great vehicle.Hey Bry I forgot to ask you abou the HISS.When the body of it is in the raised position how strong are the supports that hold the main body of the vehicle up?I am just curious.

Yeah, I had the original Snowcat growing up, and it was one of my favorites. I wasn't in that big of a hurry for the Wolfhound though until now. Actually seeing it in person again made me remember how much I had fun with the original. I think if I see it again I'll grab it.

I'll list out my issues with the Hiss:
1) The ammo belt doesn't seem to want to stay in place, especially when you move the gun around via the switch. I ended up super gluing it in place.

2) Some of the sticker locations don't really fit the size of the stickers, OR the instructions aren't very clear as to where exactly they go. For example, the "targeting computer" for inside the gunner station was very confusing.

3) When the Hiss is locked down in speed mode you have to be careful not to put ANY downward pressure, or the fender will compress the treads and they won't move. It's not as bad as it sounds though, because I usually just push it from the supports underneath.

As for your question about the supports, they're more than adequate for the main body of the vehicle. As a matter of fact, I have heard complaints that the Hiss is back heavy while in "attack mode", but mine does NOT have that problem.

Overall, I like the Hiss so much that I will more than likely buy another one, and open it too.

You have the Fury already?

I'm a sucker for armor, and the working treads were another thing that attracted me to the new Hiss. I also see a lot of vintage Hiss influences with the new one (tread assembly, and forward hull area just with a solid canopy).

I also thought the pop up attack mode, and modular weapons were great play features that my son would like.

I was never a big fan of the Ghosthawk, so the new one doesn't appeal to me. However, the Vamp looks amazing!

I never played the Halo games, so that kinda went over my head.

yeah, it's awesome that some people here in bama have been able to get the new vehicles and minimates but dammit if that guy isn't getting under my skin. I think I had seen him at TRU on friday but I'm not 100% sure. the dude was all over the new stuff even before it hit the shelves. He seemed to have an 'in' to what they had and the guy there was only too happy to go get him stuff out the stockroom. I watched 2 hisstanks and 2 wolf hounds walk right by me, and quite a few minimate packs. I'd love to have some 'words' with him. If indeed that was him. I picked up a an 05 R.H.I.N.O from a fellow tanker and I actually like it. Although I am going to mod the heck out of it. I really want that HISS to paint up and stick my GI Joe Deadpool custom in. I had picked up one of those cheap offbrand faux joe helicopters and painted it up to be deadpools funny chopper. It was the blue one that was on clearance at target for like $3.89. I've been working an alternate story as Deadpool trips into an alternate verse where the GI Joe and Cobra war went horribly wrong. It's kind of a 'What If' scenario and I've been working on some custom figures and vehicles that fit into that story.

I'm tempted to start telling her she'd save alot more if she 'didn't' buy stuff. It's mostly useless stuff that she might wear 1 time and it gets shoved into the abyss that is our closet. If I spend even $5 out of our money on 'wobots' as she calls anything I like, she has a come-apart. That's why I only use money from commissions and what I sell on ebay.

a get together sounds good to me. I'm not sure that I have anything you guys might want as I've only recently got back into the collecting scene after having to sell off all my old stuff. but I do have a good bit of fodder and non-joe stuff [ie: transformers/gundam etc.]

I'm glad I married a poor girl. We both budget like I'm still making $9/hr at Home Depot. I think the only thing she buys for herself are books, and she doesn't even do that much anymore. So, basically whenever one of us spends money we don't say anything, because it's a VERY rare occurance.

Oh, so I took some of those spring loaded missile launchers from the $0.88 Neo-Vipers, and glued them to the back of my son's Avatar AMP suit (he wanted it to have boosters so it could fly). I also took one of the miniguns from the T-1, and glued it under the chin of the cockpit. I want to take another spring launcher, and attach it to the forearm to one of the arms for added firepower. Finally, my son wants me to paint it in Cobra colors, so when I get done with it I'll post a picture.

EDIT: Didn't you say there was a new collectible store opening near Decatur soon? Do any of you know the owner? Maybe we could talk to that guy, and if he were interested have the Swap Meet/Get together there on his grand opening?

I don't normally buy vintage toys, but I loved that platform when I was a kid, and thought it would be a nice piece for my son.

To be completely honest it's understandable that you guys that shop at the B'ham TRU feel a lot more strongly about it, because it affects you directly. However, I don't have THAT strong of ties to TRU that I would be opposed to a boycott. I prefer to shop at Target anyways.

TRU's attitude about this really surprises me. One would think that if they have had as many people calling to complain that there are dozens more upset but just not savy enough to know how to voice it.

It's also a shame that my son's adopted grandmother (not really, but she's a close enough friend we consider her to be) isn't still an assistant manager at TRU, or I would be able to get a better understanding how to rectify this.

Maybe the only recourse is to buy stuff at that TRU, and use the receipt to lodge complaints via the online survey. Then after you're done you can return the item. Kind of a pain in the butt, but at least you'll screw with their metrics. Hopefully if that store's metrics get screwed bad enough it'll affect the manager's bonuses, and then he/she will care enough to do something about it.

Online is probably the only place you'll find it.

Again, my honest is opinion is this is all short sightedness of the management. They see a single individual buying (if he is buying it) a ton of product at their store, and want to perpetuate that. However, what they aren't seeing is the dozens if not hundreds of parents/grandparents/casual collectors going in week after week, and not finding anything to buy. So what do these people do? They go to Walmart/Kmart/Target/etc to buy it, and if those other retailers have the merchandise consistently enough they earn their loyality. TRU (in B'ham at least) is missing out on a lot of opprotunity, and they aren't even smart enough to realize it.

My wife and I for the most part shop exclusively at Target. What's funny is Walmart is even closer to my house, but because they can't keep crap in stock I don't even bother going in. Not to mention if I need help with something I can never find anyone at Walmart.

Exactly the same case with me. WM is within a mile of my home but never restocks. Target is about 5mi away, but generally has more in stock. I generally try 4 or 5 other Targets and WM's in and around BHM. TrU be damned.

The TRU in the Gump isn't too bad.

It's a smaller TRU and the f*ckin' building is falling apart (every time it rains the roof leaks, there are always kiddie pools set up all over the store, tres ghetteau) but I've been told the company doesn't want to spend the money to relocate to a new building. I'm just glad the store hasn't been closed.

I do think they are waiting to put out new stuff after the sale is over, though. They usually stock on Thursdays and there was not a Zoddamned new thing in the action figure aisle yesterday. They have done this before...had a sale and nothing new and then abracadabra, as soon as the sale's over there's all this new stuff out.

Ah ok, I know when our TRU brought out the figures several had banged up bubbles. I saw them straight out of the box, so it's completely possible your's were damaged on the way to the store.

Definitely call first. I don't remember seeing any left at the University Dr Target, but Jones Valley had one left today. I'd hate for you to drive all that way, and them be out of them.

I've painted a couple of action figures, and they turned out alright. I'm thinking about stripping the paint off, and trying again though. I hate wasting paint, and that's the only thing that's kept me from doing it already. Those of you that do repaints/customs, do you usually only paint your customs once or will you paint them several times before you get it the way you want it?

It's definitely frustrating to see something in my head, and what I implement looks like crap. I've never been an artistic guy. I'm the nerdy math/science type.

In 2008, the blue and black CC's did not go on sale until 9-10am CST. I did not know they would be available online but when I saw that everyone was clamoring I decided to join in and scored three black and one blue.
Last year, the Destros were already on sale when I logged on at 9am. They had already sold out once but came available again later that day.
I think Sarge will be a helluva lot more popular than the Destros, so you might want to show up early.

In answer to my own question, Jodo Kast = Kmart exclusive and it looks as if the 2packs will either be Target or Walmart exclusives. Walmart is getting the Clone Wars "Adventure" 2packs, while Target is getting the regular Clone Wars 2packs.

none taken bro. I don't work there anymore, but yeah, I know what you mean about employees being huuurrrrrr durrrrrrr! I believe only the GS's with reserves above a certain number actually got the figure. The GS I worked at had a midnight opening for the game along with some extra figs. I held some trivia contests for the rest. The sad part is I had to have 2 employees canned for taking figs with no intention of buying the game.

Kmart has their joes and most of their older toys on clearance + 50% off that, Picked up arctic se, pp ss, rex, ppse and night adder for $3 a piece. I left another pp se afew different SS including arctic and a red ninja. their alphas are $6.50, and some star wars vehicles were on clearance. Also went by target and picked up the last of the air glider/dragon fish figure vehicle/figs. they had about 7 snake armors left at $2.74. Mole pods for $3.98. they also had the PoP gate for $2.98 but it looked beat to hell and back.
Dunno why the night raven is still ringing up $49.88?
