Lol! I'm lucky that my wife isn't into the landscaping stuff. As long as I keep the lawn mowed/edged she doesn't care.

The last job my wife had was 2nd shift, so I've been enjoying her being home at night. It's nice being in a position where she can be picky with her next job, but I am antsy to have Joe money again. It's going to be torture if she doesn't find something by August.

I am a former collector who had to get rid of ungodly amounts of collections when I got married {turns out she would have been fine with me keeping my stuff} and when money got real tight {sucks don't it?}. I'm kind of slowly aquiring a collection of gi joes and transformers. As far as the scalpish statement. yeah you misunderstood that. I want things to go people who appreciate them and not those who would turn a profit for making a quick buck. EI, If i bought 35 dollars worth of joes and you wanted them, if it was locally or I just happened to be in the area. Then the reciept would be used and all I'd ask for was the same I bought for. If I had to ship it or really go out of my way, well then yes a little bit more to cover gas/packaging/shipping and whatnot would be tacked on.

My daughter was in her heightchair the other day at our kitchen table while I was modding/painting a custom for a friend and she got ahold of one of the Cobra B.A.T's and was crazy over it {she's almost 9 months old} and my wife informed me that no daughter of ours is going to play with boy's toys. I was at the Hartselle flea market the other day and some guy there had action figures{Terminator/Spawn/Old 90's independent comic figures}. I got to talking to him and he said he's going to bring a few huge Rubbermaid storage containers of Joes and vehicles in for me to rummage through next week and I get 1st dibs since I helped him fix his laptop while I was browsing his booth. I hope to find some really nice things. He informed me the containers were full of vintage to 25th/ROC that he's picked up, mostly loose figs with the weapons in another container. I feel like a kid gearing up for Christmas morning. If there's anything you guys want me to keep an eye out for let me know. He said 4-6 containers, he wasn't sure exactly how many he had but he knew atleast 4.

The only things I troop build are Snow Serpents, and Snowtroopers. I've stopped at 5 of both, and don't really have any desire to buy more. If I planned on getting more than one AT-AT I would get enough to fill them all, but I can't justify spending that kind of money.

You talking about losing accessories got me thinking about my son losing his Resolute B.A.T., and one of the missiles to his Turbo Tank. I'm still torn up about them.

Also, everything he has with silver paint on it gets scratched up (like swords). What's the best paint to do touch ups with?

Picked up a 25th Mutt/Junkyard for $3.99 at TJ Maxx here in CUllman. I almost missed it but some kid picked up a boxed Bakugan set and it was sitting under it. I snagged it up like it was a $100 bill. LOL

grabbed 25th Tripwire and Bazooka for $3 a pop at family dollar and will hit the one across the way later in the week.

Yeah I don't know but the price stickers seem to indicate old stock. they're kinda cruddy looking. But congrats on the wraith. I only ever seen 1 in the wild and some little snot nosed punk picked it up when I sat it down to root through the pegs at walmart back when they 1st came out. He picked it up and told his mother he wanted it and when she said no he promptly opened it and said "well you HAVE to get it for me now don't you?" I almost beat his little butt myself for that. Checked both TJ Maxx/Marshalls, and 3 Family Dollars. TJ Maxx, and Marshals have restocked comic packs, and single figures. However, I didn't see any variant Wraiths.

No Resolute wave figures at Family Dollar, but the manager at one of the stores told me to check back on Sunday. Apparently their toys come in huge boxes, and they have no idea what's in them until they dig it all out.

Let me add something that just pisses me off to no end. Why is it that I can go into Family Dollar (!!!!) and get excellent/friendly service, but Walmart (on University) is nothing but a load of crap? It's not like these Family Dollars (yes, plural) are in good areas of the city either, and yet they always say "hi" and ask if they can help me in a sincere way.

Target always have friendly workers too. Sorry about the rant, but I just really, really, really hate Walmart.

I agree it's the same with me. Total BS at Walmarts, It's like they've gotta go so far out of their way to be nice there. A simple "how are you?" Let me tell you guys about my day...and the fact that my son may be a lucky charm.

First..his Iron Man 2 Whiplash arrived 2 days before the scheduled time so he has it to play with on his way to Daytona and for the rest of the summer. The seller even sent a Fusion Armor Iron Man as a bonus for paying quickly with Paypal. HOW COOL IS THAT!!!!!

Second we decided to hit Toys R Us this morning since I spoent the night in Gardendale. Got off the exit on 65 too soon and had to drive through Hovoer and discovered a TJ Maxx I have neever been in. Jared and I decided to venture in and guess what we found:

Not one..but TWO clear blue Wraith plus one regular Wraith. Picked them both up (one for Jared, one for another Tanker..since Ed Haskel had already found me one) plus the regular. Kind of pissed another guy out that was walking in behind me but found out it was most likely Dan Davis.

Speaking of which...met his wife (the other half of the dynamic douchebags) at Toys R Us. Kind of annoyed her as when she would pick up something (liKe Assasin's Creed figure or Dante's Inferno figure) I would pick upt he two behind it and Jared and I would exclaim:

"EWWWW!!!! THE CHASE FIGURE!!! I FOUND IT!!!"

She got a little upset and asked if we were going to purchase them and said:

"Yes....why wouldn't I?"

Truth is..none of those were chases and but it was great to torment her...making her think that somebody had gotten soemthing ahead of her. I waited till she was gone and then hid the figures I had picked up so she thought I bought them.

We went over to the OVER-PRICED GALLERIA TOY STORE and they had more of nothing and went back and put the figures back out onthe pegs at TRU...and Jared got him a Iron Man 2 Black widow and Rhodey minimate pack and I got the Dante's Inferno figure (great game..I had to have the fig....now somebody needs to do John Marston from Red Dead Redemption).

Good day and I am glad my son got a few things he wanted.


I guess the only thing left for this summer is the SDCC 2010 WWII Ultimate Captain America.

By far the best Walmart in Huntsville is the one on the north side of town (Sparkman Dr). That's not to say that I enjoy shopping there, but it's tolerable. The one on University Dr is nothing but horrible, and I refuse to shop there after the 53 minute wait to buy a gallon of milk because they only had one register open.

Anyways, I'll rant forever about Walmart. I wanted to ask if any of you guys have seen the Lego minifigures showing up anywhere other than TRU? My brother is wanting two cheerleaders and two nurses for his daughters, and I can't seem to find them anywhere.

What makes the University Dr Walmart unbearable is the employees' attitudes. I mean Target is just across the street, and they manage to get really good associates there. I bet it's the manager at WM that makes those people so surly.

My trip to Decatur had mixed good and bad.

Target was a total bust, no single figures at all and the pegs where they were to hang were blank barcoded. they did however have the fig/vehicle packs for $9.99... not going to jump on those yet. They had a cobra gunship with firefly and as much as I want a firefly, not going to pay $24.99 for it.
All Ross's had was 1 carded bazooka trooper and a knock-off jet.

2 family dollars, 31n and moulton st. : 31n had alot of single card packs, picked up 2 more BATS, a basic wraith, Scarlett, and Para-viper. Moulton st. same figures so I didn't bother picking any up.

NOW I made the little jaunt up to Walmart to get a few Helix,Baroness's that I had seen earlier in the week. Someone must have hit that place HARD. they only had 1 Helix left and NO baroness. :(.... but what would I find as I was walking to the check-out with my 1 Helix? A white coat Doc. BOOYAH!
on a side note I found an avatar atv type vehicle on clearance for $13. would this be good for a custom joe vehicle?


Well thinking the day was over I headed over to TJ MAXX to pick up a necklace for my wife that she had seen there the prior week.
THE MOTHERLOAD: they had Shark vehicles with deep six, 12in Snake eyes and duke, and single carded 25th and comic packs out the wazoo. I only had $30 left out of my spending budget so i had to be careful. In my hand I had a croc master, Tiger force Duke and a Scrap metal/viper pack... and a shark, trying to configure the money in my mind, My eyes hovered over the toy section a bit and OMG a clear wraith sitting behind a strawberry shortcake {the card was beat to hell and back, but I'm wanting to make a custom phasing wraith anyways}. I snagged that up and found a snake eyes with timber and arctic snakes eyes behind that. Well my mind had been made up till I looked down, A comic 2-pack resolute Destro/Shockblast. Whew. ok so I left with. Croc master, clear wraith, both snake eyes, the resolute 2-pack. I need to go back as they had so many carded and 2-packs I wanted,not to mention the shark.

and totally off subject but, I really don't like fast food but damn that $2 deal taco bell has going on rocks.

Congrats,welcome to the TJ Max finders club.As I said I found one back at the first of the year but I sold it to a buddy of mine in Rogersville.Back in 2008 I traded someone for a Clear Wraith so i didn't need it.I will never forget it.I walked in to the Airport road TJ max and went to the toy section.On the pegs were a TF Duke a Paraviper and what looked like the Wraith.My thought was no it had to be athe basic one.Then I looked bam.There it was.I went to the Decatur TJ max only to come out empty handed.I may have to keep an eye out.

Well, there isn't much going on really. Most of the Family Dollars have been hit, and all the B.A.T.s are gone. Some of the stores have some Snow Serpents/Armored CC/Tripwire/Bazookas/Paravipers though if those float your boat. There are no wave 13s at any store.

Have any of you guys tried Marshall's? I haven't been there since they got in the net exclusive Transformers classics. Dragstrip/Overkill/Optimus Prime and Megatron boxes.

I know they're kind of like Ross/TJ Maxx and Tuesday morning.
Maybe they have some GI Joe items. I know I'm kicking myself for NOT getting that Defense of Cobra Island set from Ross's in Decatur now. If any of you guys see another set let me know. I want a few figures out of it for customs and whatnot.

On a side note. I went to a Walmart the other day and found some intersting vehicles I thought about picking up to fix up and wanted some opinions. !st I found an atv looking AVATAR vehicle for $13 clearance that looked kind of like something I could use for a Merc set I'm currently working on.

Also I found some spiffy looking The Corps vehicles. One I can only decrive as a hybrid Hum-v/Assault vehicle cast in tanish plastic, and another was a bitchin looking tank that would have to have some serious inner modding to properly have Joes ride in and stand in, there is basically no seats or stands for them.
They were both $13, I also seen a helicopter but it really didn't do anything for me. My question is would these 3 vehicles be good to buy/mod and paint up real nice or are they a pass-on-by type toy and I should not give them another thought.

He puts his corps guys and cobra commander in it and pushes it down the hall lol kinda fun actually

Yeah the guy who works in the back room separating the stock sells stuff on the sly there. we got one of those down here in cullman who stocks the toy section at a dept store here. One day I seen him open a case of hot wheels and about crapped himself and he shoved 3 behind some discounted pokemon figures and started stocking the shelves a little down the row. I snagged them and put them with my other things in my cart much to my wife's dismay. He came back like 5 mins later and was cussing up a storm, turns out they were something called treasure hunt cars. I'm not sure why they were so big to him but I got them and handed them over to out local Marines for toys 4 tots. The reason why I did that on purpose is because he takes the best stuff while he's stocking the shelves and scalps them at another place. Cray might have a little idea who I'm talking about.

And Bettie is the toy manager at K-Mart..or at least the person who is in charge of that area. She is super cool and is NOW the only person who can stock toys due to the complaint on Benji and Jeremy. She is also onthe up and up.

I have this town down to a science...and this place still amazes me sometimes.

cool, cool. I'm going to ask the Holly Pond FD too. I did see something weird yesterday. I don't know if this was a mistake on Dollar General's part or a portent of things to come but I couldn't get an answer from the employee.

I found 2 carded 25th B.A.T.S on the peg at one of the DG's in cullman. They were on the same pegs as the ARAH and VvV leftovers. I had taken them up to the counter and asked how much and when she scanned them she said,"I'm sorry sir, these aren't supposed to be there" and took them and put them under the counter. I'm kind of suspicious now.

Just picked up some joes from TJ Maxx today. nothing special. 3 tiger force Dukes a para viper and I almost picked up a vamp with double clutch for $12.99 but I wanted to go by Walmart and get that Corps Assault vehicle to customize. I also took a swing by Big Lots and picked up some Eels and Bazooka troopers for some customs. I also came across something called a Secret Saturdays jet for $5 that thing is friggin awesome, I'm going to go back and buy a few more to make into 2-man crafts. Only this time I'm NOT going to put that damn handle in. I still can't get that thing out. I guess I'm going to have to crack it open and get at it.

I'm also going to get that tank this weekend too, I took a good look at it when I picked up the assault vehicle and I decided that indeed it is worth it to invest some time into it. Although the guts are going to need some serious work to let joes sit/stand in it.

As far as Joe scale vehicles, my grandparents bought my son a Bad Guys jeep from Dollar General a few months back, and let me tell you it's awesome! It's a Chap Mei toy, and it's in their Police Line. If I can remember I'll try and find more information when I get home.

yeah I am picky too with my collection and how I have it set up. ATM I am mainly collecting characters instead of lines (Nova, Ash, Robotech, etc). Pretty much only line I was getting regularily was MOTUC but even those I keep the ones I want from subscription and sell rest. I'm designing a display window of sorts. gonna knock a hole in hallway way (leading to office) put shelves in and glass on one side and sliding glass on other. What I have in mind will look awesome. Most of mine are open cept the joes with 25th anniversary on card (got them for son when he gets older)

I stopped by Marshall's on my way to home from work to see if any clear Wraiths had shown up, because I know they get trucks in on Tuesday. I saw a guy putting stock out on the shelves, and I asked him if he knew much about action figures. He said he knew a little bit, and so I asked if he had seen any clear Wraiths. He gets this big smile on his face, and whips around really quickly and says "No man, I've never seen that guy before." with his back turned to me. So, if he lurks this site let me say this; "Dude, you gotta work on that poker face, because the one you got sucks balls."

Also, I got to talking to an assistant manager of Family Dollar, and they can control their orders if they want. So, if any of you guys ask and they tell you differently they're lying.

Ok my trip to Gardendale/Fultondale was kind of fruitful. I found a 4 pack ROC joe versus cobra set for $8 clearance. the one with desert camo heavy duty, duke, bronze mars officer and nano viper. A nice fodder set IMHO. At the Target in fultondale they had NO ROC single carded figures but they had alot of the vehicle sets, still $9.99 so I passed. I went into the isle with the little lifelike animals to see if they had a tiger and panther for my merc team I'm working on and they didn't but I found a Lt Stone sitting on the bottom shelf, someone must have missed it. I snagged it for $.88 and the lady when she rang it up thought I was trying to scam target and actually called a manager up. man it was funny when the manager made her opologize. I also picked up some little generic soldier 'tryke' for $6.99 that actually isn't half bad,with a figure who I'm going to decapitate and use his noggin for an awesome helmet.

Ross' had NOTHING excpet some joe/star wars mighty mugs which I have no interest in.

So I went to Walmart on my way home and they have alot of the ROC single carded characters peg-warming. all except a shipwreck and deep six were still $6.88 but since didn't have either I picked up both.

I also stopped at the flea mall on 31 and found the ROC snake eyes/Storm shadow duel set. the one with the temple pillars. Gray and brown snake eyes and red/white/light tan Storm shadow. It was $10 but I'm not sure I'd want it or not.
also they had a Sigma six deep dive duke still sealed for $12 but I'm not a collector of that like although I did like the idea{kind of reminded me of that old toy the Centurians}

all in all not a bad day but not a great one by any means.

Speaking of K-Mart, I just got back and they had Hulkbuster/Titanium Man/Guardsman/Retro Ironman. I had to force myself from buying them all.

I only got one Hulkbuster, even though I wanted two (one to open, one to keep MoC). I'm sure there'll be a sale this Fall, or I can just pick them up on clearance. I'm a patient man. =)

I also picked up a RoC Heavy Duty for $2.

Finally, I wanted to let those of you with kids that Hasbro has a "buy $25 worth of Star Wars stuff, and get the SW Helmet/Lightsaber for free" sale. It ends July 31st.

My brother ended up going into one in Mississppi, and found a Battle of the Bulge playset for $2 (my brother collects WWII stuff, and that particular playset is worth over $230). I see people post all the time about finding vintage Joes and stuff, but the stores I've been to here in Huntsville act like the stuff is solid gold (i.e. loose figures with major scratches/loose joints for $30). I was wondering what kind of luck you all have had.

pretty much the same as you, everyone wants top dollar for old banged up merchandise. My uncle in PA however makes bankroll doing the antique/collectible buy low sell high routine. The only holy grail I've ever had happen to me was about 8 years ago I found a fort max in the box at a yard sale, the lady said her son told her to sell his stuff as he was in the military and thought about staying in germany {he found a girl there}. I got a few old games/systems and some action figures. I almost choked when I seen the television box sitting there on her porch and asked her how much after looking through it. she said "I'm not sure about the asking price of those a guy went to get some money and said he'd be back but that was 2 hours ago". I asked what she'd take for the whole box and she shrugged and said "do you think $50 for the whole thing is too much?" man I couldn't get to my wallet fast enough it seemed. I ended up selling that fort max for $1000, it was in perfect shape 100% but the box was a bit rough. that's one of the few times my wife was happy about seeing a 'wobot' as she calls anything I like.

But that was like a one in a million thing. It's hit or miss now.

the only place I found cheap decent stuff was when I was living in Kansas. They had flee markets and there was always these 4 regulars. It was funny, they each sold pretty much same thing and were friends but would haggle each other when customers came around. Stuff like he's selling you that for $10? I'll sell it to you for $9.50 and throw in this for free. It was funny as hell to watch and listen to. Only thing I have gotten at a good price and resold was off ebay though. Bought a box of loose figs for $50 turned around and sold about half of box for a total of $500. I was giddy as hell lol

I did call the South Parkway Walmart (don't ask me why) to see if they got them and they claimed they had, however I didn't feel like driving that far to check (it's about a 30 minute drive for me).

Fortunately, K-Mart got about 3 cases of the new figures while they were running the $6.99 sale. I picked up a single Hulkbuster, but they had three of everything in the wave. I wanted to buy two more Guardsman and another Hulkbuster, but I couldn't stomach spending that kind of money right now. If I can sell my old computer monitor I can pick up a few more guys.

I've given up finding Whiplash. Maybe when the DVD gets released, and Hasbro makes another big push we'll see more of him.

Most retailers are getting ready for their toy resets, so you won't see a lot of new product until mid/late July. It's why you should be seeing a lot of clearanced toys at Target right now, and empty pegs at Walmart.

They did however get the new Transformers Power Combiners, Voyager Rachet/Seaspray/Long Haul, and the War for Cybertron Bumblebee/Optimus Prime.

I do this, but it's more because I'm a cheap S.O.B.. It annoys the shit out of my wife. You should have seen me with my brother on Black Friday. I always start with a buggy full, but by the time we get to the registers I've bled most of it away.

Also, TRU has an additional 25% off their clearance prices. Prince of Persia and Terminator figures are roughly $3. I almost picked up some, but I only grabbed a Terminator T-1 for the gatlin guns. I'm gonna try and make some guard towers, and use those as the machine gun enplacements.

Speaking of which, have any of you ever built a 1/18th guard tower?

damn and when I was up at TRO on saturday I should have picked up more clearance items. all I got was 3-pack marvel universe with the hydra soldier. I really wanted the WFC prime and bumblebee. I also had seen the attack on the pit 5-pack for $17 but passed on it.

and yeas I made and modded some guard towers. I've found those cheap corps/tro army towers to be real nice to mess with.

I've looked around on the net for plans, but I can't find anything. I'm not artistic in any sense of the word, so this stuff does not come naturally. I may end up getting my wife involved, since she is extremely creative.

seems target is gearing up for POC. the decatur store has sorta revamped their action figure section with blank pegs where gi joes go. and the vehicle/character packs that are $9.99 have been condensed and moved. sorry typing this 1 handed as my daughter is sleeping in my arms. of note the tj maxx in decatur seems to have restocked joes but I didn't see a clear wraith.
