W.I.P. Snake eyes Ver. 4 (1991 ver but 25th custom)

here is my take at tryin to make the version 4 snake eyes, the one with all the mountain gear. Ever since I was younger this was my favorite snake eyes so here are a few shots of what i have so-far

here is one thing that I did change for myself the snake eyes head with goggles doesn't fit too well on the neck of the wave 7 ver. so i had to use the famous hot glue trick after i hollowed out the inside a little. and thus giving him a little more neck space

kinda bad pics but you can see the difference of the two and how the neck looked really short before i did the change also with the arms I used the tomax upper arms and viper lower arms with the hands cut off and SS hands added there. I just didn't like the angle of the viper hands and he needed to be able to hold a gun and sword good enough. Sooo I'll post some more pics soon when I'm done painting but hope you like so-far

no v4 snake eyes kicks ass, and it looks like you put a lot of effort into picking out the right parts...its gonna look sweet. i did a simple one its in my customs thread in my sig if you wanna check it out.

Anyone have a good suggestion for the blue color for his arms?? I wanna try to best match it if I can and so far when I get paid I wanna pick up something close to navy blue or royal blue something kinda along those lines. I like to use tamiya and model masters and any other hobby paint as long as its acrylic.

I always loved v4 SE, Awesome Job. V4 makes SE more like one of the joes and less like a character stuck in godmode. I dont mind the all black versions because they're more realistic but v4 is more Joe.

I too had the 12" version of him and loved it...I love the idea, love the webgear, and great head modification. The one thing I'd change would be his foot wear. The ninja sandle thing just doesnt fit this version IMO but just being constructive. And dude, if your gonna go ballz in on this dude, you gotta have the orange gear! Yes I said it...I want to see orange, true to old school, gear!!

Yeah, exactly what i was thinking...the normal boots would look good, only the feet since the rest is covered by he blue leggings. CC's boots would look more accurate, and they already have blue on them.

The figure is looking great so far. :)

For the colours you mention... "oil blue" would work great as base, then "ultramarine blue" to highlight

lmfao that is just too funny yes I will post pics with both the orange gear and the new updated gear as well and for the feet yes I do agree I need something boot-like but not with laces, so I tried the SS comic pack the one with firefly but the feet don't fit right mostly because the pegs on the SS feet are too small so I'm kinda at a pause moment on the feet.

I want something smooth but not the sandals he has and not a commando boot but if i do use the boot I guess I can always shave off the laces.

Beautiful. Absolutely spot-on. You should stick with that flat black. And please be careful with that stripe, the way the pants bunch up at the bottom it's super easy to make it look sloppy. I don't want that to happen, as this is an unbelievable custom.

why thank you It was kind of a hard challenge trying to make the old version look cool since the old joes just look wonky and too stiff hopefully this will be a good homage to the original joe.

Testors makes a color that I've been using, either Floquil or Pollyscale, Early Israeli Camo Blue. It's a great blue and match the blue of the CP SE that I used for V4 perfectly. It's also a great base for tinting with black, grey or white to other shades of blue.

Seeing customs like these gives me hope that hasbro will make some of the 90's figures for the modern line after the movie. They are the ones I remember the most. (maybe the bright colors?) but I love this custom. Great Job!

it was something called russian undertone blue but when i get money next week I'm going to pick up the correct blue and finish it I will post new pics next week and also I'm going to order one of these heads from this store trigatecreations.com to give him the ultimate finish so he looks absolutely correct. the only last part I would really need is if someone has an extra original backpack the spring loaded one. One that's in good shape with a good spring still because I wanted to customize that to fit with him as well so I could get the ULTIMATE FINISH look to be replicated to the MAX lol. well if any one has an extra one they would either trade of I could buy off them please let me know.

Saw the work in progress last night, and just saw the finished product. Basically, I want one. Looks better than the original. I was never a big fan of that version of SE, but your custom's a darn good lookin' figure. If I ran into at Target, I'd definitely buy one.

muah ha ha hah yes the snake eyes is awesome and I'm very proud of the way he turned out. If you all are interested in him he will be up for sale on monday starting bid at $1 and buy it now for $45 I'll update again when the item is listed also since I mentioned he is more for pose than play I will include a small cap of extra paint to touch up the joints. Thanks everyone for your feedbacks and comments. Next version of this snake eyes that I will make will have the nice headcast from the trigatecreations.com head #107 but still with the same body just with the corrected head. And as asked earlier if anyone has an extra original v4 SE backpack the one with the grapple hook and spring loaded. I would like to have an extra one so that I don't have to take anything from my original joes. so please let me know if anyone has an extra please and thank you.
