With the live action flick coming out this summer, has anyone heard if theres going to be a special - ultimate( whatever they decide to call it!) edition of the original 1987 cult(?) movie? They did do it for transformers last year but haven't heard anything for G.I JOE....

Good question. I was wondering this myself. I was initially under the impression that the 5th dvd pack was going to contain the movie since the figures were all based off of it, then they decided to do a best of dvd. Here's hoping that they do. It's still one of my all time favorite animated movies.

Hard to say. I don't think the Joe film has quite the following of the TF film. It may be that Hasbro has something in mind for it (I'm assuming they have the rights to it along with the rest of the stuff) and that's why they didn't release it in DVD set #5.

I'm still hoping for a set with it and a Modern Pythona, Royal Guard, Golobulus with orb body, etc. But we'll see...

Well i wish they give it the royal treatment in the extras department and of course a nice tin case would be welcome! Hey we got Nemesis, which was obviously a marketing test to see how well the Cobra La concept holds...so i think the Cobra -La gang will be released sometime in the near future

I wouldn't be at all surprised. The 5th DVD Battle Pack was originally slated to be a "Movie" pack, but that idea was shelved at the last minute for the "Best Of". It wouldn't surprise me at all if they shelved it so that they could hold the Movie to release it as a special edition this year to coincide with the live action film.

Just a theory, of course.

I can see them relesing it sometime in the summer as a boxset with the approprate figures. I would love a morphing Cobra Commander!

I would love a dvd release where they remaster the audio and picture. And then add tons of extras.

Ditto. It's one of the few movies that my kids and I enjoy together.

I was fortunate enough to get it on DVD. In fact it was one of my first DVDs.

I think I still have the VHS copies I taped from TV when it was broken up into episodes and Sgt. Slaughter did the commercial interruptions and narration, though I edited most of him.

I have seen deleted scenes of Transformers the Movie on storyboards. I wonder if there are any of GI Joe the Movie out there. I never saw any.

Actually there are. Duke was supposed to die in the movie when it was originally to be released in the theatres. Unfortunetally, the Transformers movie did'nt do as good at the box office as they had hoped, so they decided to relese it as part of the series. In doing so, they needed to tone down the violence. I believe there were additional changes, though I can't remember what they were.

I hope so, the current DVD is expensive and the quality looks like video quality. I will wait for the reissue.

Thats true, but the only alterations made was just dubbing. If u watch the scene where Duke gets speared without the sound its clear that hes dead. Theres a Scarlet dubbing thats says hes gone into a coma and towards the end theres another dubbing where someone says that hes come out of the coma, those where the only alterations done to the movie. Ive heard rumors that there was going to be a Zarana nude scene but nothing else.

I payed like 25 dollars for this DVD off the bay ( it does not appear to be a fake) and it looks like crap when you watch it, old VHS quality!

Well pal mines pretty bad too...Listen to this, its got excellent picture quality till about half way through the movie...then it suddenly switches to video quality and has got the European soundtrack! Instead of Yo Joe and G.I JOE...You hear full force and action force!! But this is what i expect Hasbro to do..They will probably make a DVD pack out of it with the cobra la team figures..its only logical..

They just included the movie with the best of the 80's pack and beleive it or not comrade, according to some circles, this cartoon was not even accepted well by the public........

Fellow viper, the best of 80s episodes was changed the last minute, they have only included the opening from the movie. Personally i love the movie, its pure gold till about half way through when we get introduced to the new Joes and learn more about Cobra La..from then its a downfall. But still...Despite having a stupid plot, leaving the military theme and going to the b-movie bad sci fi territory( Was it produced by Roger Corman??...Now that an interesting question...) Its the best Joe project we ever got. Transformers the movie originally bombed at the box office and look at it today! Its turned cult!

Hasbro should release a 7 figure box set with the movie. I figure with the stuff coming out this summer, it would be nice. Maybe as an internet exclusive?

It could include: 2 royal guards, mutated CC, sgt. slaughter, flint, golobulus, and pythona.

I don't want another Flint. But you know Hasbro is going to throw in a Duke/Flint/Destro if they do this set.
