But why TRU?

So far it's always been Wal-Mart that got first sightings.

seriously, hasbro SLOW DOWN!!! it's bad enough people are spending all their money because of the holidays but now all these figs are coming out all at once. i don't know about everyone else here but i just can't afford to get all these at once no matter how much i want to. luckily where i am we always get shafted compared to other parts of the country. i haven't even seen a wave 4 fig yet let alone wave 5 or these comic packs but they really should spread the distribution out a little more.

It is killing me. the closest TRU is an hour away from me, but i was there last night. I asked if they knew when their next truck was coming in, and the woman told me there was a fresh truck in the back. I asked if they had a manifest, so she pulled it up on the computer, and there is comic packs on that truck!!!! I asked when the stuff would be put out, and she said maybe last night, or today......so i called today, and they said that it was to be put out tonight by the late shift :( so i might make the hour drive a little later to see if i can cry to someone to go out back and grab them for me...........I really want the hawk pack!

Any more sightings of the comic packs??? Nothing in my area yet. I hit TRU today and they had a fresh supply of the 1st Cobra 5-pack, as well as a wave 3 revision case with Flint and a Trooper, but no comic packs. I want a Doc!

Unfortunately, the only TRU around here is directly across the street from a mall, and there's no way I'm getting near that place with less than a week to go in the holiday shopping season. Maybe flywheels or one of the other Charlotte members are brave enough to go look.

Seems as though the East Coast is seeing nice distribution on the CPs. Kinda sucks being in the middle of the country, everything gets here LATE. lol.

No luck at TRU again today...but so help me God, if someone shoulderblocks me again, I'm going to show them things a tickle me elmo shouldn't be used for. :D

I'm in the Pacific Northwest near Seattle and I can pretty much guarantee a wasted trip every morning when I wake up at 6 AM to get to the local Walmart. Full pegs for everything BUT the 25th Anniversary. I still go though....I have lucked out a few times, but more wasted trips than anything. I wish I could walk in and see an endcap full of Joes.

I called my local TRU to ask about these and they told me I needed the "Item number" which is apparently "above" this one. Anybody have those and would mind posting this for us? Thanks!

They lied to you. All they need is the UPC.

Typical for TRU (at least mine): Employees that don't know squat about anything; Cluttered shelves with way overpriced old stuff (like old Viper packs and old Lady Jaye and Oktober Guard comic packs) sitting around until the packages are banged up and nearly falling apart because no one wants to pay over $25 for them (how about a clearance or something?); Large stockpiles of the now defunct Sigma 6; Loads of Cobra 5 packs for $30 sitting on the shelf because you can get them on Amazon and Walmart.com for less than $15; Wave 2 & 3 figures on 3 pegs with $11.99 (duh!) marked above them so no one will buy them except those smart enough to run to the price reader and see that they are actually $5.99. C'mon, what a joke!

My opinion is that TRU has completely missed the 2007 Christmas boat for GI Joe because of things like this. I'm pretty sure they were the first place to release 25th GI Joe here in Richmond, but somehow they missed getting enough stock to hope to compete w/ WM. TRU was almost completely absent of 25th GI Joe for nearly 2 months while Walmart and Target stocked up and sold themselves practically out of them, taking practically the entire market share here for that time period, at least here.

Maybe, just maybe, TRU is starting to get smart and realizing that GI Joe is actually getting popular again for REAL this time, and trying to get back ahead with the next round of releases. But I have yet to see the fruits of that. Where my 25th Comic Packs at???

Hey bro, I was living in VaBeach when they were released, so I feel you!

Boxed sets hit, and then....

Nothing.

I was lucky to find Wave I while they were puting them off the truck at a KB one morning!

Ouch. I'll bet you paid dearly for those, what are they $6.99 at KBToys? No wonder ours here are all going out of business... yay, 30% off stuff! (which is actually market prices finally). They truly are the only ones worse than TRU for overpriced junk. But at least you got them. I bought at least one or two at KayBee myself (until I realized all I had to do was be a little bit patient, and show up at Walmart at 11PM on Friday night).

Incidentally, how are these packaged? The same as the older comic packs, with the VvV-style "tabs" taped to the back, or is it something else?

I really liked that packaging style, it let me hang the comics up on my wall on the cards.

Just ordered the Scarlett & Hawk comic pack at TRU.com. All of the wave 1 comic packs are back in stock. Thought everyone would like to know.

seriously, hasbro SLOW DOWN!!!

Sorry to do this to you, Havoc, but please Hasbro, don't listen to him!! Keep the Joes coming at the rate they are! I'm sincerely sorry that some people are having a hard time keeping up, can't afford the $20.00 a Wave, or whatever other reasons might have prompted the statement above, but his statement is not the prevailing opinion. ;-)

I wish they would slow down a little bit, just to clear out alot of the older stock that everyone has already aquired and distribute the Joes at all coasts at one time. If Hasbro did that then all the online stores wouldn't or couldn't jack up the prices and we as customers could get what we wanted at a resonable price all the time. :) but thats a perfect world!!

But why TRU?

So far it's always been Wal-Mart that got first sightings.
Actually, KMart and TRU got first.

Then Wal-Mart. Target has exclusives lined up.

Hasbro has to rotate through the different retailers and give them each preference at appropriate times in order to keep relations cozy with said retailers.
