Gears of War or HALO?

Overall the Halo series is more interesting to me, although I think Gears is a lot of fun too. However I have to agree with WVMojo - Call of Duty is the game that got most of my play time in 2008.

I never ever got into Gears really. I've played both and felt that they both were pretty lacking. Then again, I disagree with the majority of younger gamers on most things.

I picked Gears. More variety in weapons, I like being able to run and duck and cover. Multi-player is more fun since it is more one-on-one than Halo is. I just get more fun out of playing GOW than I do Halo. I like Halo, GOW, RS and COD, but they are all unique and totally different video game experiences.

Halo for me. I just like that style of game better, GOW seemed a bit slow although I did like the innovative approach it took, it just isn't as fun for me as Halo.

Game for game I'd probably go Halo, Halo 3, GOW then Halo 2. Have yet to play GOW2. All I need is a pistol in Hang 'em High and you're toast.

I'd have to say Gears of War is my choice. Couldn't get into the campaign mode on Halo 3 as well as Gears. Must be the cover system and the running that makes Gears exciting and intense. Not to mention you can't play Halo multiplayer with bots/simulants.

i like halo cause of the armor customization but i like gears because of the gore that being said ill have to pick halo over gears but Call Of Duty 4 over everything

When all upcoming 1st person shooters themselves state that CoD4 redefined the genre and raised the bar, you know it's the best out there.

Halo is glorified garbage.
It was one of the only decent shooters when the X-Box was around.
It's an average shooter at best with no new concepts to introduce to FPS and with a bunch of gimmickry.

It's story line is boring as well, when compared to that of bioshock. And it doesn't make up for it at all in game play.

It's online habitat consists of immature morons screaming through their mike on how they "owned" you or if you win how you " hacked the game" or "glitched". Though don't get me wrong this is usual in most games but I find it more common in GOW and COD WOW.
I found it more prominent in halo 3 however.

Gears of war has an interesting story line and characters.
The game play is entertaining as well, and I can get at least two consecutive game plays out of it before selling it.
It's online game play is atrocious however. Heavy lag issues, a completely unfair advantage is given to the host of each game, and a horrendously overpowered shotgun. An interesing concept was born from it though in being able to revive your teammate and being able to crawl away. Not to mention it's core engine which is used by many games sold today.

My vote can't go to either of them, as I prefer left 4 dead...that and RE5

i like both. both are equally fun for me but a third option should be fallout 3 :) I LOVE that game. :) i so cant wait for the game of the year edition so i can get all four downloads instead of having to DL them from online.

Gears.

Halo to me was boring and none of the characters or story were interesting and felt pretty cardboard. Not to say Gears was incredibly deep or anything but I guess being a fan of dark sci-fi like Warhammer 40k it was easy for me to accept Gears of War. Plus it's got one of my favorite voice actors (DiMaggio) hah.

Gears for sure. Aside from the lag problems online, the game was quite solid. Someone brought up Left 4 Dead, what a great game. Expert campaigns were tough in the beginning, now can run through blood harvest in about 2 hrs.

You know I've never even played a Halo game yet. I'm mainly a survival horror kinda guy. I've played Gears 1 and it's a great game (though much shorter than I expected) but I don't get the hype for it.

I highly recommend Dead Space then. If you only play one other survival horror game in your life, play Dead Space. It's the only game that truly had me jumping out of my seat.

I liked both Gears of Wars but Halo is just so much more engrossing to me. Halo 1, 2 and 3 take it for me, definitely.
