Who was your last figure from the original Joes that you remember buying, and why did you stop after that.........

Roadpig 1988

Some of the vipers got way too ridiculous, no new cartoons to keep me interested, and i discovered using firecrackers mulitated Joes with ease.....Oh man the countless Joes I murdered by explosions, watching a big bus running them over, giggling while hiding to watch the carnage night after night, and learning to ride a skateboard :( sigh...

i cannot for the life of me remember the last Joe i bought, (or had bought for me) but the lack of toon also contributed to my lost interest...
i remember starting to collect TMNT after Joes...i loved the bad Turtle

I think my last one was Headhunter Stormtrooper. I was on my way to getting out of Joe by this time but I saw this one and I had to get it (I also had gotten Mace around the same time, both bought at a Winn-Dixie Grocery store) I don't know why I was getting out of Joe, probably just thought I was growing up or something ;)

I'm not sure what exactly it was, but i just looked @ Yojoes archive and i remember me and my brother having several '91 figures (Sci-fi, Crimson Guard Immortal, Dusty (<--wow, that is an ugly figures), Heavy Duty and more) and not 1 of the 92 figures looks familiar, so there ya go...

Tiger Force Roadblock. Started getting out of toys at the time and KB had a bunch on sale. Picked him up cause he was one of my favorite Joes.

This is a great topic....

Oddly enough the first and last figure I got were the same character.
1st was original Scarlett and the last was Ninja Force Scarlett. By the time I got (NF)Scarlett I was pretty out of Joes, but I bought her so I can come full circle.. :)

Dont remember the last one but it was in 87 because I didnt have any of the 88 figs. It might have been the repaints and it might have been switching interest to other stuff. I remember thinking the TMNT got stupid because they came out with so many versions just to keep making money. Those got whack real quick.

one of the Battle Corps characters. I think Backblast or Crimson Guard Commander. The big lots where I lived got a bunch in early 95 after the line was canned.

Mine must have been either Blowtorch or Snake Eyes v2 from the 85 line. I had those figs, but I didn't have anything else from that year. I started getting into other things - I can remember still playing with my action figures a little but not really buying too many more.

The Range-Viper was the last one I picked up as a kid. I had a few more Cobra characters from 1990 (Undertow, Night-Creeper, Laser Viper, and a S.A.W.-Viper), but I the last Joe I got was Stalker v2 in '89.

I think the last figure I picked up was Chuckles. It's funny because at the time I didn't like him, but wanted to keep up with "collecting them all." And then I stopped altogether until the new stuff in 2004. I guess by that point we were getting lots of re-paints, and figures that just looked really strange. The outer space stuff was about to start and I knew I couldn't afford any of it.

My last "GI Joe" figure was actually a Sub-Zero I believe from when those figures came out. I remember it being a translucent blue. I think it was suppose to be movie-based.

I cannot say with absolute certainty what my "last" figure was, but I know it came in 1990, since the last group of figures I remember playing with are from that year; Overlord, Sky Patrol, Salvo, Sub-Zero, Topside, etc. I have no memory of ANY of the figures from 1991.

If I had to guess specifically I think my last figures were from Sky Patrol; probably Skydive or Static Line. Still remember those figs with fondness, too.

I can say with certainty that the last Joe Vehicle I ever got was the "Hammer," for Christmas that year. I was a little puzzled by it because I sort of knew that my parents wanted me to move beyond action figures and toys, but I guess my dad thought the "Hammer" was too cool to pass on. Looking back at 1990, it was probably also the most realistic of the vehicles released that year, which isn't saying a whole lot.

Not that they aren't cool, mind, but...geez, that seems to me to be when the vehicles started getting beyond wacky.

1991 was the last year I bought any G.I. Joes. I was in the 7th grade and I was not really playing with toys anymore. I still bought a few Joes because I loved them so much. The last one I purchased was probably Snake Eyes v.4, but it was also about this time that I started the great Joe massacre that desimated my once glorious collection. I remember trying to launch them into space with bottle rockets, taping m80's to them, and snipering them off with my BB gun. I would get home from school several hours before my parents and wage war on my G.I. Joes. Many were burned with gasoline, and I started several brush fires that I had to scramble to put out. Those were dark days for the Real American Hero, and I regret them now. :(

Backblast, Deep Six, Downtown, Subzero or Stretcher from the 1990 line... not sure who was my last from that line... but 1990 was the end of GI Joe for me.

I was in High School and my father made me leave all my figures and toys behind when we moved. :(

I used to have soooo many... oh well.

My last figs were from the '89 line, which had a myriad of vipers and a few Joe remakes. It's a shame because I really liked Alley Viper, Night Viper and HEAT Viper, which were actually very cool and quite original that far into the series (although I'd question bright orange and yellow as battlefield colors). Other than that the line was growing more and more stale with fewer figs and vehicles I had to have. As many mentioned already, the line as a whole was getting further and further out there with less orginal and more repaints. I was growing out of the far out kiddie stuff and into realistic scale models by that time. And then came, you guessed it, girls and away went all my dispensible cash anyway.

1990 was the last year where I had gotten all or most of the figures. 1991 I didn't get much but 1992, I had at least half of the figures. 92 was great with Destro, Gen Flagg, Gung Ho, Wild Bill, and the Ninja Force. The only figure I really remember from 1991 is Heavy Duty but I'm sure I had a few more.

The very last figures I got were from 1993. It was the SE, Zartan and Scarlett. Around 97 or 98 I sold my whole collection. I really regret doing that.

my dad thought thirteen was to old to still be buying toys so the last Joe thing i got was the dino hunters boxed set i thought it was cool especially having a blond lowlight he matched my 85 version so i switched out the heads and had a goggle less version of the guy

The last figure I remember "buying" was heavy duty. I remember trading a bunch of my M.A.S.K. stuff to a buddy of mine in school that was still way into toys and I ended up with a few sky patrol guys, laser viper, track viper, tracker, general flagg and a handful of others. Still not sure what happened to em all?

I might be a figure or two off, but I'm fairly certain it was ninja force Scarlett and the Ninja bike. Got home, and realized she couldn't even sit on it. Hadn't even crossed my mind before I bought it.

I think my last figure was either Lightfoot or Charbroil. I got one of them as a gift at the end of my 5th grade school year (this would have made it in May of '89). By that summer I had grown out of toys and moved onto comic books and baseball cards. I think I eneded up burning a lot of them, blowing up a lot of them and using them for batting practice.....by the time I was 14 they were all gone.........wish I could go back and save them from my teenage self!

The last figure as a kid was the v1 B.A.T.S. I probably would of collected all my life if life was more stable back then. A lot of my collection disappeared mysteriously while i was at boarding school the rest i blew up or traded for joe comics .

Steel Brigade

Collected from the earliest days (Blowtrorch was my 1st figure but as my best friend got out of collecting aroung 13 years of age, & I basically inherited all his figures, for a very small price, & got oodles of great vintage stuff to add to my own & brothers collections)

Collected all through the 80's & then looking about 1993... had a LOT of those figures... & a trickle in 1994 (Flint, Shipwreck, Alley Viper)...then cold.

Then in 2000 I bought the WHOLE TRU line (vehicles too ~ Chameleon & Tomahawk! LOL!!)... I rediscovered those 2000 figs packed away recently & MAN are they MINT!! Went cold again (although my brother PoweredConvoy still avidly collected) & was hooked again with 25th!!

I was there with my collection till the original line ended (I even bought street fighter & Mortal Kombat figures because of the released joe & cobra vehicles).
Then I got married and the line ended, well became Sgt. Savage and Extreme. What I managed to keep stayed with me untill the 29th of August, Tht's when hurricane Katrina took my home and with it my entire collection of Joes (and I had over 97% of the U.S. joes) My family changed when that happened, I have children, my daughter's were easy to please, give em a new Barbie or My Little Pony and they were fine, but for me and my son's we lost a big part of ourselves, because all 3 of us collected joes, but there was a ray of sunshine, after FEMA showed up and we got back on our feet with clothes, and the necessities, we found that our ol friend Joe was now DTC and my boys found Sigma 6. Now we're living in Saucier Ms. and we're all collecting joes again, hell my wife scouts for us while she's at work at Wal-Mart. In closing I say to you this, This fan never stopped collecting.

My first Joe:

1982 VAMP with Clutch (age 5)

My Last Joe:

1988 Astro Viper (age 11)

That was the only ’88 fig/vehicle I had, I also only had a few ’87 figs/vehicles.

To be honest with you, Nintendo and their NES spoiled the whole toy thing for me. After playing games like Super Mario Bros and Zelda…toys just couldn’t compare.

I started collecting video games in 1996 and continued strong until 2006. I’ve only collected Joes since this time last year when a buddy got me into it.

Battle Corps Major Blood if I remember correctly. I stopped buying because they stopped making them, and I refused to buy Sgt Savage, and even worse yet Extreme. I started up again in 97 with the TRU stuff, as bad as the Quality was.

Wow. I am clearly in the minority here; I could not have imagined setting fire to/blasting off/burying/smashing/otherwise torturing my Joes. Not even at the volatile ages of 13 or 14. Nope, my entire collection is still in the attic at my mom's house, carefully put away, with small number tags on their feet corresponding to a printout of all the names I could remember, and a giant pile of guns, backpacks, and accessories are in a separate box. I knew I'd want them when I grew up. Unfortunately I want them NOW but my wife would kill me; our apartment is already too full of stuff. Someday, though.

shipwreck '94? the one that made me go "wtf that's not shipwreck, thats torpedo..."

and i only destroyed my tigerfly with an M-80 in the tail section.
KA-POW! yellow plastic shrapnel everywhere!
luckily i was smart enough to run inside and watch the ctastrophe from the sliding glass door.

i felt terrible immediately afterwards. :(

oh and several years earlier i destroyed my G1 optimus with a hammer. my mom's boyfriend had a kid one year older than me, and he convinced me it would be fun. again, felt terrible. especially when about 2 months later the movie came out and i felt like it was my fault optimus died. =*(
i have since redeemed myself with the 2002 TRU optimus re-issue. = )
