I was thinking about this last night, but,Do you ever leave any behind??I know some people are buying everyone they see and i just don't understand that.I have passed Stalker,Shipwreck,Firefly to name a few.I buy 1 to keep MOC and one to open. The only ones that dont' count are Troopers and Red ninjas. What reason could someone have to get 4-5 Buzzers or Beachheads??I don't care if you resale them or not,I don't want this to turn into a flame thread.Do you clean the pegs or just get what you need?

I just preorder 2 sets and then a few extra troops. Mostly because I'm extremely lazy.

if i already have two of each, i leave em' for other people who may be in a situation that i used to be in...you know, never seeing any...i like to imagine someone else being happy to see some hanging there...or, just maybe, a kid being happy to see em' or discover them for the first time...it's called consideration...

If the 25th figures ever hit the shelves over here in England, I will be army building and perpetually broke. As it is, I am mainly picking up figures off the net for customising, and the ones I really want to add to my collection.

I'm trying to get 3 of everything (one to open, one to keep MOC, and one for my future son to open). For the most part I have pre-ordered evrything, but I have picked up a few variants in stores. I'm a little addicted to troop building, but I make an effort to leave stuff on shelves hoping that this line will strike a chord with the next generation. I find myself being the caretaker of the Joes in my local Wal-Marts, trying to keep the pegs neat and orderly with the coolest figures out front and all of them moved as far forward as possible so they are the first thing kids see. I think that the success of this great line of G.I. Joes depends on kids buying them so we should all do our part to help make them available and easy to find (except troopers of course:D ).

On a side note I think that the 25th Anniversary line will really take off if Hasbro does its part to advertise. A new cartoon (one that is a much better reflection of what G.I. Joe is all about than the S6 series) is vital!

I buy what I want, and sometimes I buy extras for other people. If the store has more than that, I don't purchase them just for the sake of doing it. I'm not going to "leave behind" something I want, though.

I've seen a lot of figures on pegs, especially in the last few weeks. I only get 2 of each (one to open), plus a few of the variants (although I gave up on Zartan). I also have bought most (but not all) of the troopers I've seen and I've left behind plenty of red ninjas and officers. I don't have the desire to get any more than that (I like moderate troop building). Plus, I'm already treading on thin ice in terms of keeping my wife happy!

Oh, I've also bought a few for my kids - not a complete set.

I done the same thing at 2 stores last night.

I'd be buying up single carded Troopers in bulk if they didn't have that silver sigil on the chest. I'm slowly army building the five-pack Troopers with a focus on the Legions version, but there's just no cheap way to do it.

I leave behind everything I already have minus Troopers or Officers if I am in the mood to buy an extra soldier.

I took the cheap route and made the silver logo troopers my normal troopers.I can't see myself dropping 25$ just for the 1 trooper in it.

I preorder because i have nothing on the pegs around here. I have an army of about 40 troopers, but they are all mixed: drivers, air troops, comic troops, silver troops, and one red sigil trooper. The red sigil runs the show.

1 to open (2 for Army builders ~ although i might get 3 Red ninjas :p)
i pre-ordered the wave 2-3 comic packs from BBTS because thing shave gotten scarce and i'm worried wave 1 is gonna shelf-warm something fierce (based on Star Wars which had a similarly sucky wave 1) and i want a doc dammit. plus it actually wasn't much more than retail even with shipping.

I started out buying two of each. But then realized, I don't care if I have them carded too. FREE THE FIGURES!!! :D So now I just buy one of each, unless there is a variant, then I'll get that and leave it carded. I do buy extra troop builders (Officers, Troopers, Red Ninjas, etc.) too.

I get one of each since I'm a displayer type of guy (Ikea detolf case). I collect these guys for myself since I don't have a kid. The only doubles(10) I've gotten so far are the red ninja's since I like how those guys look. I also got two of the cobra legions pack since I wanted doubles of the air troopers and drivers. I repainted one of the storm shadows into a red ninja that came with the legions pack. As for the normal cobra troopers with the silver sigil...not really into them since I like the red sigil troops better. I wished HASBRO would release the red sigil troops into 5 packs:rolleyes:
I leave all the joes on the pegs for the moment until the new wave comes out (Snowjob, flash etc), well I'd still only get one of each except for the upcoming Crimson Guard. I'd only get two of them :D

I tend to but two of each, one to keep carded and one to open. If I find any variants I'll keep them carded. If I have the money while at a store and see some troopers or red ninjas I will sometimes pick them up (but not always). Other than that I'll leave them on the shelves for other enthusiasts.

The only thing I pick up now days are the fixed articulation figs when I see them, and until I have 2 of each so that I can open one and the old one I had already opened becomes custom bait.
Other than that, I buy every trooper, red ninja and officer I see.
Although here as of late, finding any officers is almost impossible.

I've just been buying one of each, Don't have time/space/money for a huge collection and don't believe in toys staying MOC. I will be buying a second Firefly, Beachhead for customs, and another red ninja or 2 and of course a fixed Crotch Stalker. I've been holding back on getting more troops in case they ever fix their articulation. It's why I've held off buying the legion set. I want that Stinger Driver, because I need a Driver for my stinger, but if they're gonna fix him, I'd rather use my money for that.

2 of each, one to open for display and one to keep MOC... but I'm happy with just one of each figure MOC.
EXCEPT the troopers and the 5-packs. Since I already have a trooper, CC, Destro Storm Shadow from the 5 pack, I will only buy them carded once. (Even though the carded troopers have a silver logo, I'm not going to open or buy any more.)
Hopefully I'll get the Joe 5 pack for Christmas so I will only have to buy one Roadblock, Duke, Scarlett, SE and Gung-ho.
The only figure I will buy three of will be Shipwreck, since I have both tatoos MOC, I still want one to open and display.

I buy all troopers. Then keep 1 of each figure except for a few I have 2 of. I leave figures on the pegs all the time. Mostly SE, CC and SS. Lately Beach head and Serpentor has been the peg warmers.

I get three of all of them and a few more of the ones I like. I like them MOC. The five packs do not interest me, but if they go on sale I might pick them up. I have been lucky and already found wave 4.

I buy 1 version of each to open. If I see a variant, i'll buy it to keep carded. Thus far, thw only one of those I have is snake Eyes with Black Timber.
But since I haven't seen ANYTHING but 5-packs since I found Serpentor, Buzzer and Beach Head, it's kind of a moot point.
And that was in Mid-October...

I buy a minimum of 2 each(1 MOC, 1 loose) for the named characters and I buy every troop builder I can find(still keeping 1 each each MOC). Plus, there are some named characters that I buy extras of for customs. I also have all the major variants to date.

Even back in the 80's I was getting multiples of figures. It just wasn't a good battle unless I had a full Cobra army on one side. I remember explaining to my mom why I had to have 10 of the same figure (cobra soldier) for Christmas. Needless to say, I have yet to leave a 25th cobra soldier/officer on the pegs. As far as the other figures I still get multiples, mostly for future custom projects, but sometimes just because I like to buy them. Reminds me of finding new figures as a kid. So far I've got no less than 4 of each figure. With some (stalker, flint, shipwreck) I've probably got 10-15 of them. With flash, snow job, and crimson guard hitting the pegs after Christmas I most likely buy all that I find (especially true with snow job & CG). My 25th buying pattern matches my ARAH buying pattern, at the Atlanta Joe convention I easily dropped $1,500 to $2,000 on obscure international variants and for the most part multiples of 80s figures. To this day I've never sold a figure (on ebay or otherwise). This isn't to say I buy everything, I skipped most of the "new sculpt" and all of the 8" because I really thought they sucked. That's purely my opinion of course. Basically, I buy what I want, when I find it. I don't buy to sell, I don't buy to screw some other guy over, and I certainly don't buy to make some little kid cry. I remember when an entire 40ft aisle was top to bottom GI Joe at the local TRU. I guess I know how easily it can all go away or devolve into neon ninjas (1993-94) so I take advantage of it when it's good.

I pick up typically one of each except for army builders, those (If I like them enough) I'll get 5 of, I like my armies to be in "stars" (To use Battletech terminology)
The exceptions of this thus far have been Stalker, Firefly, Zartan and Beachhead (Mainly because of retooling or different packaging, etc...) and that's still 2 each (Again except for Stalker :)....they just HAD to fix his waist, didn't they?)
Now, I'm picking a few up for customs, but still, I'm only grabbing one or two figures at a time and leaving as much as 3 pegs worth

I buy one of each character I want. As it is, I've got one of everything that's out now, through wave 3. I buy one of each figure I want and open them, while keeping the card backs in protector cases. I use a razon knife to cut along the edge of teh bubble to get the figure out. The only figure I've left behind so far is the Red Ninja. I might have considered getting one if they had been original sculpts. But, I don't remember them when I was a kid, so I don't care for them now. I'll do some army building when they're easier to find. But I'm in no hurry.
Wave 4 is going to get left behind when I find them. Which I'm kind of fine with, since it gives me a chance to catch my breath until wave 5 comes out.

^^^ Abso-friggin-ditto.
i buy one of each, have all up through wave 3 minus red ninja and serpentor. i might break down and get the red ninja 5 pack so IG destro has something to shoot at. ;)
wave 4 is gonna be my "take a break" wave also. then wave 5 on is gonna be "open the floodgates!" :D
as for army building, meh. not gonna happen unless:
- red sigil trooper comes single carded or 5 pack
- crimson guards (yay wave 5!)
- vipers (soon?)
- BATS!
even then, i would only get 5 of any of them, max. i dont need 30 guys all like "malkovich malkovich. malkovich malkovich malkovich? malkovich." :p
so far i have not purchased ONE 25a joe at brick and mortar. it has been my fellow collectors looking out for me, and for that i cant say thanks enough. (friendly reminder: never move to japan and expect to collect joes.)
but if i had the chance to buy them at a store, i would FOR SURE leave plenty behind, taking only one each of who i need.

I leave stuff behind.Say there's three troopers I will buy two and leave one for someone.Sometimes I might buy one and leave two.I always leave a trooper type figure cause I know how hard they are to find.I would want someone to do that for me.You sure don't hear a lot of people saying I got troops to sell any fellow collector for cost.I hope stores realize how much money they could make if they keep up with there orders and Hasbro can fullfill them.Especially the troops like Vipers,C.guards, and other hopefulls(like Bats,Eels, and Iron Grenadiers). At least we are getting 2 c.guards per case.Happy Hunting Everyone!!!!!!

share the love!
Certainly. The way these things are shipping to the mid-sized cities, in which most people live, it might only take one or two guys that buy up everything to ruin it for another collector. And army building at this point is a real drag for the guys who get there just a minute or two behind another collector. A restocked peg might only have 4 Crimson Guards, and if a guy comes in a and buys 1 destro, snowjob and Flash and all 4 CGs, that's 3 other guys who aren't going to get one.
But, I'm not really judging, because if you end up getting there at the same time as the army builder, most of the time he'll recognize you as a fellow collector and share with you.
