question on xbox live

i've been playing live for months but then last week it just didnt connect. its not because of expired membership. no barricade blocking the 360 from router. i've just been doing everything the same for the past few months. and i dont think its from the router because im typing on my laptop wirelessly now and connection is perfect. when i try connecting on the 360 it just cant. does anyone here know how to fix or what the problem is. im just thinking there something internally wrong with the console. i called xbox and cox to see the problems, their response didnt help at all-

i put in lots of time on my 360, so i may be able to help. when u try to sign in on tha console, what message pops up? is it somethin like cant connect to xbox live?

dumb question but did you try a different cable ?

when it doesn't connect, there are error codes... you should be able to google them to at least find out why its not connecting...
