Collection Sale Question

Hello all,

Times have gotten rough and I'm going to have to severely trim down my Joe collection. I'm just wondering what you guys is the best way to go about selling them. Posting here on the Tank or going straight to ebay or a combination of both?

My collection has a lot of early vehicles: original VAMP, G.I. Joe Headquarters, APC, etc. The bulk though are 25th Anniversary with some Spy Troops and Valor vs. Venom thrown in. Anything 94 and below is in played with condition, but after that has all been displayed only. I've got uncut cards for everything modern and the majority should be complete with all accessories. I also have a huge box of fodder (approximately 10 pounds) and extra accessories and whatnot for customs. Overall, I have at least 250 complete figures and 15 vehicles.

Thoughts? Any advice is more than welcome. I'm just not sure where to start.

Well the very FIRST place I would start (and I know it's super time consuming but this will maximize profits) is to make a list of everything you have that is complete, then I would try and take a few pictures of everything just so people can get a general idea.

As far as selling, you will of course make more selling things as individuals but it will also take a lot longer, and you will have to ship everything which will be expensive and laborious. I would definitely recommend trying to sell here first if you can because ebay will take roughly 15% of everything you make, and that's of course a big chunk of your profits.

^^^I agree with everything there. Especially selling items as individual pieces as opposed to larger lots. I'll definitely take a look at what you have when you get it all listed and pictured.

Break one big lump collection into samller lots with one or two good figures in them, paired with Neon Cobra Commanders and Wild Bills. That works for me!

Make a B/S/T list and sell here on the Tank.

I'd say sell individually here on the tank for about 2-4 weeks then sell the rest as a lot on eBay. Also do a lil research to see what stuff may be going for. Prices change quite frequently!

I suggest selling on here for a bit, and then on e-bay for the items you can't get sold on here.

Let me know what vehicles you got, I've been looking for a 25th Rattler for a while now.

Ebay. Selling on fan forums is a frustrating experience IMO.

Thanks to everyone for their advice and help. Fortunately I caught a bit of a windfall and the Joes have made it off the chopping block. Phew! Now I just need to keep it that way.

It's nice to her good news for a change. I always hate the thought that someone would have to sell any part of their collection when they don't want to.
