I started this badboy a couple years ago when I first started messing with custom stuff. Before him, was a Gundam figure I had trimmed, painted and modifed the head. I was having issues getting the details I wanted due to the size and material it was made of, so I set off on a larger one. You can see that first one in the background of the first pic.

Came across a Kotobukiya Frame Arms model kit at a local collectibles shop I knew the manager of and grabbed it on discount. Mainly for the 'skeleton' portion so I could work off of.

Decided to put this up here only after getting such great, positive feedback on the other things I've posted recently.

I'm going to split this into parts since I took a number of pictures throughout my progress on him.

As these early pics show, it turned out quite different as far as the torso goes. Found out later than I had wanted that the torso was far too narrow for my needs.

Here's where I started bulking him up to suit my needs:

And to round up this part, here are pics of the 'backpack' I ended up building

into him. You can also see how I started boxing in the arms:

Now on to organizing the rest of the in-progress pics and sum up the process for part 2 in the next post.

Going to start this one off with the 'hips'. While I couldn't make working ones that small, I'm quite happy with the pistons I made for the hip joints:

Apparently, I missed taking pics of a few of my steps along the way, but I think the pics I do have are enough to show what's going on. If anything, I have no problem answering any questions about this guy.

Here, you'll see my first attempt at a head. It was from an Iron Man Transformer, but the plastic was a pain to work with, so I'm currently working with a medium I'm more familiar with(Green Stuff!). You'll also see where the torso/chest ended up after previously-said 'bulking':

These show 1 forearm done and the start of the upper arm armor. Also seen is one idea I had to fill the chest cavity:

And these show my feet, which where quite goofy looking at first, though seem to be shaping up nicely now(see part 4, next post). Also shown is the beginning of my BFG:

Hip pocket to mimic the 25th:

Pelvis getting armored/bulked up:

http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/r609/fesifisky/Custom%20Joe%20BAT/CustomBat047.jpg

After getting this far, I found the arms to be a bit too short looking and functionally with the armor. Here's my attempt at extending the elbow joint. Top is original, bottom is my own:

http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/r609/fesifisky/Custom%20Joe%20BAT/CustomBat048.jpg

Lower leg with a lil more dimension and form, along with feet:

And finally, my BFG will finish up with where I am with this guy. Just started back up on him this morning after a month or so away from him:

This is looking sweet!

Giving it the Traditional Blck and yllw deco or going for something else?

Can't wait to see some new pics!

Thanks guys! I really wanted to put up pics as far back as almost a year ago but was still so new to customizing I was a bit nervous. The positive feedback means alot!

Definitely going with traditional black and yellow paint scheme, to me this wouldn't look like a B.A.T. without it, especially considering the liberties I'm taking with the rest of the limbs. This one may be a bit slow going since it's mostly scratch-built and most of the main structure is done and since I'm working on a commissioned custom Retaliation Hiss and custom driver, so those are currently taking priority.

It's a frakking cylon!

I can see that now that you mention it. The 'face' was more part of my trial and error portion while am searching for just the right piece...preferable clear red, but silver if no luck when I get to finishing the head.

Getting back into the swing of working on this guy. Luckily my commissioned Hiss and driver are down to mainly needing just paint, so I got some extra time on my B.A.T. and a couple of the attachments.

First up are better shots and a lil more work on my custom elbow joints. A lil more trimming and they should fit perfectly:

And here's the first gun attachment I had started a while ago. Drilled out the barrels, added some Green Stuff, and mocked up the top mini missle launchers:

Started this chainsaw this morning. Got it off a Spawn figure. There was a smaller chainsaw blade that pivoted in a scissor-like fashion, but not sure if I'll use that:

And my last update of the day on this, my gattling gun. Even added a small motor. Now to figure out how to get a small battery and switch/button on it somewhere:

That's really awesome! I like all of the heavy fabrication and kitbashing I see. It'll be nice to see the finished product!

Thanks so much guys, glad you're liking it so far!

Frakintiger: definitely a lot of scratch building on this one. Aside from the 'skeleton' I started off with, just about everything else is hand-made, besides the obvious parts that is.

Small update on this in a few.

Wanted to get one of the lower legs painted black and then add yellow to the lower part of that, but the jig I was using to hold up the painted part fell and had to repaint before I could get a pic. Hopefully tomorrow.

Anyway, I did get what I think will be most of the work done for the chainsaw attachment. Maybe a wire or hose here and there:

Thanks! Y'know, I had thought of that, but between how long this guy has taken me to get to just this point, and the fact I have no sewing skills aside from hastily sewing band patches on stuff, I think I'm just going to have the body parts painted.

Figured if the thing were real, it'd be cheaper and easier to touch it up after a battle with a cheap rattle can versus ordering a new shrit and/or pants. But that's just me.

Didn't have time today to add the yellow due to the drying time of the Krylon Fusion paint, but did have time to add green stuff to the lower legs and then paint them black. Next couple days I should be able to mask off the lower part of them and add the yellow:
