Awhile ago gave you the first in a series of looks at the upcoming Wave 2 Retaliation figures, the 3-pack Firefly (http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-joe-toys-modern-general-discussion/248798-retaliation-firefly-hand.html). Today got a look at the single-carded Firefly.

Full review and more pictures are on the Toyverse (http://thetoyverse.com/?p=6719)

Major highlights (good and bad):
-Nice details on the figure, nice design and the flame pattern on the back is very nice
-Nice head sculpt
-Weapons fit loosely
-"light-up" feature does not light up like advertised
-the blastboard is a neat little accessory

Hasbro's Frankenstein figure. Worth getting a couple. one to have and to customize

I very much have interest in the fig. The fodder potential is undeniable.

The lights don't work?

That's good, as is the only thing in common with the real Firefly: Firefly is not a damn vampire, he doesn't lights up.

That aside, the figure in itself is ugly.
Yeah, the stamp on the back is cool but looks stupid and off place in grey. The lower legs aren't that much detailed as the rest of the figure. The arms seem long, with small hands.
The kart is cool in itself, yeah, but stupid and innaporopiatte for FF.
The head is awesome, kudos to the sculptor.

So, basically, he can make some fine fodder, most will buy one for the head, and parts.

But as figure as whole, he's disproportioned, looks weird and makes no sense. Not to mention that there's nothing that says Firefly...he doesn't looks like the classic, doesn't looks like the lime ninja, doesn't looks like an update and certainly doesn't looks like the movie FF. Fugly

The lights on the sled light up a bright green, it just doesn't carry through into the arms. You can see the translucent pieces meant to light up on his forearms and hands.

Must be a movie scene we have not previewed yet...

Yeah, the only reason i want this fig is because he's got traslucent hands (that i can depaint) that i can use with the radiated 25th SE, but with that amount of paint is really difficult light goes thru (it's actually pretty difficult because soft plastic doesn't reflects light very well).

Nice review btw
Pics are very clear and precise!

Thanks. I need a new camera though, this one sucks for taking detailed pictures.

Bah, looks good!
I can clearly see the color difference you mentioned in the mask. But it matches the arms and the collar, which means it's painted and detachable (unlike the torso that is green casted)

The only thing worth it in this fifure is thead for a custom Punisher. Ive got all the other parts lined up.

Head is too big...first time to see a color combination with different contrast, like wtf? Green and grey?!

Wehrmacht soldiers in green camouflage with grey pants looks good, but not for this fella.

Thanks for the pics! My son will like the blast board. Yeah he will probably be used for parts. Not bad, but we are getting a better Firefly in a later wave.

Thanks for posting Troynos...i've got one coming in this next week and I'm pretty excited about it myself. Reminds me of an amalgam of V1 and V2 from ARAH line.

Nothing on this figure "screams" Firefly.
I'd have to wait until March when I see him on the pegs, to decide if I'll get him or not.

Yeah, he doesn't scream Firefly to me either, but does make a nice addition to the Cobra forces. Just need to come up with a name for him.

I know it's not the best Firefly figure, but surprised isn't more interest in it.

All in all the figure isn't the best, but isn't the worst. However, I am BAFFLED by the choice to show Firefly's face in the movie when the character never does that (as far as I know). Additionally, there has been one color that's been almost synonymous with Firefly since his inception: gray. Why the fudge would they make him green, and then make a Retaliation Beachhead that's gray?!

I doubt it.

I'm sure I'll get one; I mean, it says Firefly on the package. But definitely not my favorite. It isn't a bad-looking figure, but not the best.

I'm thinking that unmasked head might become General Rey for me.

And the rest will be...Torchbug. ;) A big fan of Firefly's work.

Hmm, I thought this figure was using the Paris Pursuit Storm Shadow torso, but it's not. I still like it. It reminds me of the green Firefly repaint from 2002 or whenever.

Because it's the movie universe and they wanted to make their own statement. They're kind of stuck with Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow and the black and white, so this allowed them a little more flexibility.

It's not like Firefly is a known character along the lines of Snake Eyes.

I figure some of it has to do with screen time for Ray Stevenson. Ray park isn't really known for his face, so it's not as big of a deal that he's in a mask all the time.

Probably. No actor wants to wear a mask the whole movie and not have any face time. Park would be the exception because you're not hiring him for "Ray Park" you're hiring him for his abilities.

See Marvel ARAH #126 re showing face and green-ness.

but was that really his face? Or what he wants you to see?

Troynos

Probably what he wanted people to see.
