As for the figure included with the vehicle, I would love to see Circuit Breaker with the next one. The box designs are based on the Marvel crossover miniseries, so why not make a figure of a character that was featured in the comics.

The Hound Cruiser is pretty good, the Vamp really has a lot of options in what they can do, it can be painted Red for Iron Hide, or White and Red for Ratchet. They can even use the steel Crusher if they wanted to.

Arcee would be a good one to do paired up with Quarrel as the original Quarrel came with the RAM.

Agreed. We now have Shockwave and Starscream. However, I don't know if my OCD would allow me to keep Megatron (gun mode) with Starscream if I have a new Megs in a Patriot/Night Force Grizzly body.

I don't think I really want or want to try to afford getting into Bots. I'm also a proponent against trying to buy Joe general success by tying it as an also-ran with Transformers. As a limited gimick, I recognize it's very popular with a lot of collectors, but not so much with the general public.


However, If they are going to do it I think they should make something fully transformable instead of using existing molds and throwing transformer stickers on it as they've been doing. To me, no offense everyone, but that's just half-ass.

The starscream set was cool for the novelty of it and the release of the skystriker that was cool in itself. The megaton gun was a nice touch. The shockwave is cool for the energon cubes and soundwave and the shockwave gun barrel. I just can't see painting a vehicle in tf colors and putting a joe with it enough. Maybe if they included a second figure like spike, then I could see it working. Or a mini sized blaster with tapes.

Hey, thanks to the mod (C.I.A.D?) who used my quick & dirty shoop for the graphic for this topic on the front page!

Turner has a good point about just doing the deco on a vehicle ala Transformer and throwing in a Joe figure probably isn't enough to make it truly worthy as an exclusive.

The Shockwave HISS kind of set the bar higher in that respect with the Constructicon BAT, Energon Cubes, mini Shockwave ghetto blaster and spare tapes.

What could you leverage with an Autobot/Joe themed crossover that could compete with this year's SDCC exclusive?

I think if they're going to do it, they should continue with the Decipticon theme.

It's probably going to be after a new mold like they've been doing so depending on what they come out with next year, will determine what they do.

The movie comes out next year. What vehicles are coming out along with the movie release?

EDIT: But also it's probably going to be after one of the popular Transformers from the original show. So whatever mold fits whatever G1 Decepticon??

Maybe perhaps they will incorporate Soundwave somehow.

A good driver might be hard to pair up as cobra has no chopper pilots, Wild Weasel maybe but I think a Baroness would fit well against Arcee and Quarrel.

How about going in the opposite direction? Instead of a Joe toy deco'd as a TF, how about a TF deco'd as a Joe toy? I'm seeing Universe Powerglide as a Cobra Rattler. The backstory could be that Cobra captured him and copied his schematics, then built a squadron of Rattlers that turn into mecha controlled by Dr. Mindbender. Of course this would necessitate inclusion of a Dr. Mindbender figure :)

The releases are based on the Marvel G.I. Joe and the Transformers series. Starscream comes from an imaginary issue #5 and Shockwave comes from an imaginary issue #6. Since Bumblebee was destroyed by the Joes and rebuilt as Goldbug in issue #4, we can't have a Bumblebee. He'd have to be Goldbug.

It's hard to get excited about these since I know in all likelihood I'll never get one; and not for wanting. It's just too hard. I was on my break at work, I got onto the HTS site in the right timeframe, and I still missed out. Last year I was in Iraq and the Zaranas hung around for a while, but either the slow internet there or the swamped server at HTS prevented me from getting any. It's just frustrating, but maybe they'll do something different next year, like expand on the MASK - Joe link they did with Matt Trakker.

Soundwave and all his tapes wth frefly. That would be my wish. And all his tapes; the birds, the humaiods, the beasts, the combiners, the dinos, even the one time only seen "eject" (looked kinda like optimus's roll thing if I remeber corrct, bbts has one in 4 pack) all of them. Soundwave could be some big old com station/ base, whatever. Maybe a mobile com station. So long as he retains the original G1 look. And he must transform from robot to this whatever he is. NO vehical mode only...that is knda lazy. Firefly would be all decked out as well in similar soundwave colors (or his traditional colors) and a ton of gear for bombing, infiltration, all the sabatour stuff. For the mini version of a transformer to throw in (like mega and sw) how about perceptor (or what ever the 3 dudes that made a camera was named) have him as the tiny hand held thing. All these other suggestions anyone else puts up are nothing to me. This would be my nerdicous dream. Hell I might even make it one day. COBRA!

The Whale would be awesome, but they have kept the box the same size and depth with both Starscream & Shockwave issues. A Whale simply would require a much bigger and deeper box.....unless it came with an actual rubber deflateable cussion bottom instead of a hard plastic one. Interesting.

I literally can not tell you how HUGE a desire I have for some of the Transformers human supporting cast done as Joe figures. That's one of my greatest toy dreams ever.

exactly. as much as i hate the mobat, it's the best option for something like a megatron or warpath due to the mauler molds being long gone. hasbro simply isn't going to do an entirely new mauler or whale or any other large vehicle just to sell something this exclusively and in a limited number. it makes much more business sense to utilize something that has already been paid for. the same goes with making these things actually transform. the cost to do that would be staggering for a one shot item. if it ever becomes a full fledged line then possibly but they know people will buy these even if they dont transform so it is silly for them to overspend.

It was actually Prowl, with a Cycle that transformed into a cannon. the TF line was called Action Masters, and while the Marvel comics TRIED to incorporate it into the cannon line, it failed miserably, though gave great figures for classic TF characters, plus some new ones.

We're basically stuck with convention and online exclusives for this series. Never a doubt in my mind. It IS cool to imagine though, especially thinking of what Joe fig would go with what vehicle. But costs... it's best to keep a limited run and only available through select sources

A line like that might be interesting, but I don't think they would sell too well. Many TF fans abhor the Action Masters because they were Transformers that don't transform. Of course that would also describe these vehicles that also appeal to TF fans, so I could be wrong.

I'd rather see figures of human characters from the show and comics. From the show you have the previously mentioned Marissa Fairborne, Old Snake (Hasbro could sell us another CC), Hector Ramirez (who also appeared in the GI Joe cartoon and others), Dr. Archeville, and of course Spike, Sparkplug, and maybe Chip. I doubt you have much experience with Go-Bots. It's far from bad, the show only actually hits 'Bad' once or twice, unlike GIJoe and Transformers which hit it on a rather unfortunately regular basis, especially in TF's case, it's just a sea of mediocre and decent. It's not painful for the most part, I don't get the hate for Scooter myself, it's got a few interesting ideas that really make it different from it's dueling show, the models are pretty much Toy Accurate, it did Girl Robots far earlier, it's got a good cast that is shares with Transformers and GIJoe. Honestly, as far as the cast goes, I prefer Leader 1 and CyKill to G1 Optimus(Until the movie, anyway) and Megatron(But not Galvatron).

As for the toys, consider the size and price. They have far more in common with GIJoe than Transformers, being small, affordable and rather intricate for their price and size. Hell, quite a few of the Gobots surpass Transformers at the same size.

GoBot's major flaws are that the show is never actually good, something Transformers can do at times and GIJoe was regularly, the names can be rather lame and that the toys have no designation on them of alliance and the lack of file cards to build character.

I actually would like the Renegades associated with the Dreadnoks, starting with CyKill, Crasher, Coptur and Fitor. Zartan, Thrasher, Monkey Wrench and Zarana seems like a good group. Ok, maybe not Fitor, not really appropriate for the Dreadnoks, but maybe the Night Raven as Scoop.

To be realistic, Hasbro seems to be using only toy molds that they are releasing at the moment. Granted, two hardly represents a trend but it is what it is. Thus, the Vamp Mark II is a real possibility, while the ROCC is dependent on if Hasbro is releasing that soon.

I thought in the most recent interview with Depriest that his "no comment" about the TF/GI Joe exclusive next year was interesting. Sounds like he was scared to let the cat out of the bag.

I really, really, really, like these joe/transformers crossovers. Even the boxes they come in are works of art. I got 2 hisstank/shockwaves, one to open and one 2 display. I honestly didnt care to much for the starscream/strikefire so i didnt get him. However after picking up this hisstank one i immediatelly went on ebay and paid $200 bucks for him so i can literally display the box next to the shockwave one.

Yeah the Star Wars ones are a bit iffy, but I think that's because they still play by the "Cockpit must become robot's torso" rule, which really gets in the way of making good robot modes. They no longer have little pilots, so they shouldn't keep being restricted.

I think the first version of General Grievous got lucky and avoided this issue because his vehicle doesn't have a cockpit, it just has a little chair.

Two things hurt the Star Wars TFs.

1) They are not designed by the same team as regular TFs nor engineered by the Takara team in Japan like regular TFs and it shows. Amature hour basically.

2) Instead of being Star Wars iconic vehicles that turn into cool robots or even better into Transformers character, making a true crossover, they turn into lame robot-ish versions of The Star Wars cast, which generally just look lame IMO.

Transformers VS GI JOE is only a comic book series. It is an adult series with pretty limited interest. There is no cartoon or movie series to push this line. Children are not begging mom or dad for these toys. Therefore, buyers for big box retailers will not want to take the gamble.
Don't forget that the majority of consumers for toys are children.

I can only speak for myself, I'm both a TF and Joe fan, and I love these. I think that GI Joe is a much more natural crossover with Transformers than Star Wars. And yeah, the stuff doesn't transform, but it's still pretty awesome!
