does anyone open their SDCC exclusives?

I'm not a MOC collector, I open pretty much everthing, but for some reason I cant bring myself to open my SDCC exclusives, even though I desperately want to. They just look so damn awesome MOC and in their little SDCC plastic case.

I'd love to be able to get 2 of each (one to open, 1 to keep moc) but that's just not going to happen at this point and time, im on a tight budget.

How many people out there actually open their SDCC figures?

I usually open everything. But with the SDCC figures, I never have the opportunity to get more than one and then I feel wrong about opening them.

I will say that wasn't the case with Starscream last year. He was ripped open right when he arrived.

Podium CC - MOC, once I got it in-hand I wasn't impressed with it at all. For sale.
TTT Sarge - open
pink Zarana - MOC, only due to lack of display space
Starstriker/CC - MISB, display space again, up for trade
incoming red Jinx - will be opened when I set up a new display space in my new place

If I get a white Jinx and Shockwave, they will both be opened as well.

I think, for me at least, a part of it aslo the value of the figures. I'm not collecting to make a profit, as I said, I open damn near everthing, and I dont intend on selling my collection. But in the back of my mind, I'm like "Maybe I'll get tired of collecting someday." In which case I will probably sell everything. And My SDCC figures are really the only thing I have of any value.....I dunno, but god damn I want to open my jinx.

Another reason why I'm reluctant to is because I dont have my figures on display. I will just open them, play with them for a 5 minutes, then back into the closet they will go. I try to tell myself, that if they are just going to be sitting in the closet, they might as well be sitting in there MOC.......but I reapeat, I WANT TO OPEN MY JINX!

I keep some of them carded. I got 2 USA Slaughters and kept one MOC and opened the other. I have Cold Slither Z on card, but would open her except I have a custom I love. I have Suited CC carded, but had to get at the awesome suited Destro. So it depends.

Sure. But I see the value in keeping things MOC. USA Slaughter is nice to have MOC because he was never carded before. Carded ARAH is beautiful. I think what's most important is you open what you enjoy and enjoy what you don't open.

I haven't opened my Zarana or Starstriker but I will when I have a GIJoe room again. Same goes for this years stuff if I can get them. Never was able to get either Sarge, but I would open them if I could get them.

I usually only open them if I can get more than one. The Joe/TF exclusives are limited to 1/per... so I didn't open those. Same for my carded exclusives... I only got one of each Jinx for myself, so she is staying unopened. The second Jinx I bought went to a friend who didn't make it to San Diego.

I thought it might be a possibility but I didn't hang my hat on it. I pulled the trigger on the Skyscream, because I thought the idea was awesome. Plus I love the fact that both were voiced by the same guy, and that they basically sound the same.

Only ones I didnt open were the 2 pimp daddies destros. Rest I got 2 of each one to keep carded as long as its vintage card art and one to open to add to the loose collection. It will always be this way for me...tis tradition. Only other exceptions are Star-striker and Hisswave...their boxes conceal thier awesomeness, but I opened each carefully to preserve the awesomenesses of the box art...

Some yes, some no. Zarana regular, yes; variant, no. Slaughter, no. Starscream sky striker, no. With Slaughter, I had a nice custom that I was ok with standing in. With Starscream, I liked the box and didn't need the toy to fill in a spot. Zarana regular I needed to fit in Dreadnoks. The variant I didn't open in hopes that one day the Club or someone might create Cold Slither!

With the SDCC exclusives I usually open the standard version and keep the variant carded. I really didn't have much use for the Cold Slither Zarana so I left her on card. If I can get the two versions of Jinx, the red one will be opened and the white one will stay carded.

As far as Sgt. Slaughter goes, I really wish they had done the USA version as the variant, I like the TTT version best and wish I had one to open.

I got Starscream and Zarana and opened them both. Found Sgt Slaughter on ebay and opened him too.

When Slaughter came out, I only bought one of each variant because I had no luck on HTS so I paid about $120 for the pair on eBay and at that price, I didn't want to buy a extra just to open plus I have an awesone Sgt. Slaughter custom I made a few years ago but would still love to get one loose if prices go down on him. Last year, I had a friend pick me up my stuff at SDCC so I was able to get 2 regular Zarannas and 1 variant, so the the extra being my opener. Hoping to do the same this year. Get one of each Jinx and a 3rd red one for loose display.

GI Joe is a tough one for. I am actually thinking about selling off the majority of my MOC/MIB figures, but the artwork is so awesome on the carded figures, that is it hard to make a decision on it. The 25th and original lines have by far the best toy packaging of all time.

I don't rip the packages, I cut the bubble off with a sharp knife so I don't mar the card or art. I cut the plastic real close to the card and try not to leave too much on it. That way I can have mint looking cards and loose figures.

I open almost everything in my collection. I've opened all of my SDCC Exclusives, except for the 2010 MU Movie Spider-Man and the 2011 DCUC Swamp Thing. When my MU Masters of Evil and Shockwave HISS arrive, they will both be opened.
