I'm not sure if this belongs in the customs forum or what, mods feel free to move if that's the case.

Anyway I was wondering what you thought of re-carding the ME Joe figures on vintage card kits (the reproductions sold on eBay) I thought about doing that for some of my custom and loose figures especially Dial Tone and Footloose just because I may never get the Club versions. I also like the artwork of the vintage stuff.

I know the ME/25th are a bit taller, so I decided to buy one to test it out. I purchased the '85 Tele-Viper kit. Sure enough they are a bit tall, but slightly bending the knees and he looks okay.

The card is great, the colors and detail aren't quite vintage quality, but still looks great. They also print "reproduction" on the back to avoid someone trying to sell it as vintage. The peg hole punch is intact too. It looks like you can punch it out if you want.

Here's a shot of the finished product...

There are instructions online and videos on youtube. If you buy one, take your time and try not to let the tape overlap onto other pieces of tape, you can see it.

I like it.

How much do these cost and whats needed to make them?

$11.99 plus shipping, double sided tape or glue, a sharp knife to trim the excess tape and a credit card to seal around the edges.

I also used tape to secure the weapon/scanner to the bubble, just so it doesn't wobble around, but from how the bubble is made it's not required.

I like this idea but I like it more for the vintage figures.

That looks awesome but I'd be afraid that mine wouldn't come out looking so good.

I've thought about doing it, but when I contacted Beggars Canyon they thought it might be a tight fit.

I now favor doing it with minty vintage figures, a project that's been added to the queue for a while now. Been meaning to get a fresh Snow Job from that RoC Past/Present pack for just this reason.

I wasn't even aware of this. I haven't been on ebay in a while.

Other than having carded versions of 25th figures that never came carded, I don't see the point in doing this. Personally I don't think it looks good at all. I love those repro cardbacks but I use them for what they were intended for, recarding vintage figures. They display so much better in my opinion. I got these and others from Beggars Canyon Toys. They are really nice cards and bubbles.

What is the point?

I like the carded look of figures and I don't collect the vintage stuff. I might never see a carded 25th Dial-Tone in my collection. All sorts of points.

I was thinking that the new Ultimate Cobra Commander would look good on their '83 Commander card:

Beggar's Canyon Toys : Resto Kit - G.I. Joe - Cobra Commander (http://www.beggarscanyontoys.com/item/1983-g-i-joe-resto-kits/resto-kit-g-i-joe-cobra-comman/lid=23891057)

But, I think the fact is that the ME figures are just too tall for the vintage kits.

The vintage figures look amazing though.

Some fit and some don't. CC might... but I got the card kit for Airtight and no go... the bubble is just too small. :(

Still looks cool as a display piece.
