I've been wanting to make my own customs for a long time. Seeing all the great stuff here has always inspired me to try out customizing Joe figures. I recently got laid off from work after 12 years. Now with the free time I have, I can try a new part of Joe Collecting.

That looks like a repainted Retaliation 3 pack Kamakura.

Thanks man, had no idea it was a straight repaint, but well done nonetheless as I couldn't tell at all. Thought the parts were from other figures but der on my part as aren't all joes just kitbashes? :D

You make most of us look bad if we all compared firsties :D
Don't be afraid to paint the flesh/face, waaaaaaaay too many customizers overlook that very important aspect.
It can be quite challenging at first but the more you do the better you get.

Yes, this is my first custom and I still need to do some more touch ups. As most of you figured out it's the Kamakura from the 3 Pack w/ Ret Storm Shadows head.

I have more customs that'll be posting. Spent the past weekend working on seven other customs but Kamakura was my favorite and I had to post it for my fellow 'Tankers' to see. Like ceraurus said I'm hooked and I can't stop.

It'll be awhile before I start working on flesh.
My thing is I hate painted flesh when it could have been molded in flesh. That's how you lose a lot of the details when not done right. Renegades Scarlett, Lifeline and Rock 'n' Roll are perfect examples. they just don't look right.

I want to wish you luck on finding work. I know it's rough right now. It is nice to have a fun and relatively inexpensive hobby to keep you occupied. I'm painting a Tofujesse Slaughter head right now as my first crack at flesh painting and so far, so good. And since your Kamakura looks so good, I guess I'm going to have to do the same to one of mine.
