Yeah my target has already removed everything from the aisle and moved it to the end cap where they always put clearance toys. They haven't marked down yet though. I hope to find the two new vehicles before it all is gone

Well, I don't have a practical use for most of the stuff, no need to go overboard for stuff with no perceived use. :D

Dunno if they'll even get that low at my Target.

Damm, I was already planning on what paints and decals I needed to start modding the ninja cruiser into a vamp mark II. And ebay prices will be ridiculous if I can't find one at retail prices.

Only thing I saw with clearance tags today were the Retaliation Battle-Kata Blaster. Probably Sunday the rest of the stuff will be on official clearance.

Can kennywr22 give us the low down on what's still at distribution centers?

PhantomStranger
07-14-2012, 03:55 AM
Well that's just great. Right when the Combat Cruiser slowly starts to come out, they go and clearance everything and won't be ordering again. The only vehicle I care about until the Night Landing is out, and I probably won't even see it this year.

I wonder if anywhere else will be getting the Combat Cruiser this year or if it was just a screw up that target had them to begin with.

Does this just mean they're discontinuing for now? Or indefinitely? Like, when the stuff restocks in Feb/March, will they start carrying the stuff again?

All Targets were supposed to have end capped the toys originally. Most used a back endcap that I visited. Your target could either really be on the ball or just playing catch up. :)

Yeah, it'll all ve available come February. I'd love to have a combat cruiser now, but I'm hopin they'll be plentiful in March. If they drop the 3 pk prices to 9.98, I'll get another.

Pretty sure the statement going around was that this was what was specifically going to happen.....jumping right into wave 2 once they started production on the figures again.

... Prepare for a massive GI Joe Clearance in the next week.

Here on the West Coast all Retaliation stuff was pulled from the shelves, as of last week. Resets are done. I'll be surprise if I see the 3 Packs (that were heavily restocked the week before) hit clearance. Think they're just gonna sit in the back rooms 'til February 2013. Why clearance an item you're gonna carry again months down the line.

For those of you that have found Retaliation product on clearance, "I Hate You All."

Shin Densetsu

Walmart had them on clearance too.. with the Red tags stickers but priced at 9.98 figure..oh wait that's how they do clearance..keeping the same price but putting the red stickers on them

DR.Sin
08-02-2012, 06:08 AM
Walmart will raise the price and leave it at that with a red tag and leave it their for months on end. Believe me I worked for them.

I haven't been to a Target for a while, but I know of a few stores were I have hidden piles of loot hidden from their sight. I did manage to get a couple of 3-packs for 9.98 each at one of them a few weeks ago.

I'm in the same area as you, and I haven't seen every Target do their reset yet. Target doesn't want to store Joe stuff in the back for 5 months. Their stores usually have limited storage in the back, so they'll probably want to clear out space and get rid of the Joe product, even at cheaper prices, just to clear up room in the back.

I've gone to two Targets my area the last couple days. Both finished the reset but had absolutely no Joe stuff anywhere. Nothing in the whole clearance aisle. Maybe they sold them to a discount store or sent them to Goodwill.

I've seen that too. Stuff is gone. It's not at Goodwill yet. They can still make money. It's in the back while they finish figuring out the reset and were they want to put clearance stuff. I worked there and they would at times take clearance to the back while they figured out where they wanted the new clearance endcaps to go.

Jinx723
08-02-2012, 02:25 PM
I still doubt these will hit discount stores.

Best bet for Target to free up room in the back is putting them on clearance. From my understanding when & where they go on clearance is not done by Target but a 3rd Party. That is why clearance items never hit at once nationwide.

I have noticed though, that some Targets have a Hasbro end cap. Mostly figures: Avengers, Star Wars, and Retaliation on these end caps. Also, Avengers and Star Wars figures are on sale all month (Aug). so there's a lot of figures between Avengers, Marvel Universe, and Star Wars for the Holiday Season. Just check online stores and look at the pre-orders for those brands. Avengers has one more Wave but there's already 3 revision cases of Wave 4.

I have yet to see the 3-packs at any of my local Target locations.

They all still ring up at regular price, but I'm hoping to eventuallly find them for at least 50% off.

I think I only want the black ninja and Kamakura though, so that's why I passed on them at full price.

I doubt they sold out. They dont sell any for like weeks and all of a sudden in a period of two they sell like hotcakes. Doubt it. Im thinking they had room for the figures and put everything else in the back till march or just sent it back. Was hoping they would be on clearance cause I want that beachhead and rb in the 3 pack. Oh well grabbed a cobra trooper.

It's called Fall reset.
Stores out here on the West Coast have pulled Retaliation from the shelves as of last week. Making room for "crap that actually sells". If it's not in the clearance areas, most likely they just put them in the backrooms.
Question, the section that had Retaliation was it replaced with Beyblade toys?
There's no way these are going to show up at discount stores. Not now anyway. Give it a year when Waves 1 & 2 haven't sold. Let's face it with or without a Movie G.I. Joe doesn't sell (in retailers eyes).

It is kinda interesting. Normally, I think it would go the discount route. But, since the movie is still slated to come out next year, I bet it got rerouted to sit and collect dust somewhere until then when they think it will have a chance to sell better.

The Target near my office is getting ready for their fall reset. they moved a few of the figures to an end cap, and the vehicles were moved to the Clearance aisle, but they have not actually been marked down in price as of yesterday. Looks when they do, it'll be a 50% reduction.

I'm still seeing a VERY SMALL section of Joes at targets around here. They were on an end cap mixed with other various lines, only 2 pegs. One wally has them marked up to $9.96 and then put on sale for $7.00. So it looks like the PRICE HIKE will soon hit Wally World also... This hobby is getting EXPENSIVE!!!

No kidding. 6 years ago I used to buy most of my Marvel Legends figures at this one store for around $10 per figure. Now at that same store the new 2012 ML sell for between $20-30!! Brand new figures selling for $29.95. WTF is that??

The Targets in my area have the same end cap and the Vehicles are just kind of rammed in somewhere.... like in the non-clearance section of the clearance aisle or a different end cap. All full price. Not a big deal really.... the toys aren't moving.....

It is another sign that action figure/toy collecting is hitting its peak.
soon toys will go back to being toys like Batman TDK, rough stuff for kids to play with.
like all collectibles eventually do, we are seeing where the merchandise will hit a peak, demand will go down, find a point and level off. It is inevitable.
and on topic:
no clearance at Target yet here. no figures either, but a case showed up at TRus recently.

The Walmart "toy manager" guy said they are in the same. Retaliation toys have been clearanced along with Marvel Legends, 3.75 Marvels and TF Prime vehicles. Their set should be 2 weeks also he said.

My target has what is remaining from the single carded figures (2 Storm Shadows, 1 duke, 1 Road Block) on an end cap with the Avengers leftovers, "on sale," and has scooped up all the vehicles off the floor. This just happened this week and in it's place is the new wave of McFarlane Halo stuff.
