He's kinda got a thunder thigh thing going on.... The thighs look pretty thick compared to the waist... Might be the photos and all the random angles.. A set of Simple Turn-Around pics would be great to get a better feel for the actual proportions of the figure.

I assume this is sculpted in Wax? I'd love to know the specific medium you use for your sculpts.

The sculpt is right in line with the classic ARAH style and it fits in perfectly with the rest of that line. The figure is great all around but, I really like the head sculpt and the facial detail.

I think that has to do with the fact that his thighs have the added pads on them. I really dont think they are too large.

Krexx, great work. Your skill are as sharp as ever. I cannot wait for Cloud to get this so we can see it in person.

Sweet Fancy Moses! I don't even like Serpentor, but I love that figure! Be careful Cloud Strife, you've got a hell of a task in giving that a paint job worthy of the sculpt!

That is in fact sculpting. I guess the only way I could afford this is if someone casts it. Lots of work there way over $1000

Utterly impressive..
Details like that.. You have to be damn patient and maybe a little stubborn ^^
Excellent (excellent!) work Sir !

Dod Ear

This is amazing. What I find really impressive is I believe toy companies (I know at least with head sculpts) get to work on a larger scale and then have it minimized to a 1/18th scale. Can't believe the detail you worked in there without that benefit. Well done.

Does this commission mean Cloud Strife decided not to finish his WIP?

Mad Geneticist
07-13-2012, 07:27 AM
Great attention to the small details. Did you work this up from a "dolly" frame or add onto one of the existing figures? I am also interested in what medium you used. It looks like it might be a two part epoxy putty, but it is hard to tell.

07-13-2012, 08:01 AM
holy....santa claus....$h!t
I can't even imagine how much I'd charge for something like that..
unless you have a tool that makes scales on the fly

c_money_collins
07-13-2012, 08:26 AM
The scales really speak to the level on detail you car about. Those must have taken a little bit of time. What's amazing is the fact they are all the same size.

What tool did you use?!?

The Delta
07-13-2012, 08:43 AM

hey guys , thanks all of you for your comments :)

Nedsgetchicks.... no , close, it was sculpted using a mix of an epoxy , with polymer(plastic
powders, an a machine oil ,it's a personal recipe I have developed over the years ,nothing fancy
just mixed the material to fit my sculpting ways

Malcolm .... thanks , yes , the hasbro one was done in a hurry

edhellman ....thanks , the store will open soon ,I will keep you all informed on this :)

Mad Geneticist ... this is done the same way the figures were done in the 80ts and 90ts
using the frame or tooling and articulation from several figures, with my material (a mix of epoxy
) and lots of time in the sculpting

IIIzoeIII .. the scales were very time consuming , but I knew once finished , it will look great
it was worth it !

c_money_collins ...yes , they took a lot of time , and the tool is just a small , pointed tool
I have , but the special tool here , was the time it took

The Muppet Slapper.. for sculpting the scales , I just draw them in the material , with my tool
they were more time consuming than a special technique :)

stocos28 .. thanks , glad you liked my serpentor

If this had been placed in Hasbro's case at Joe Con or SDCC it would definitely be causing a buzz on all GI Joe forums. I'm another fan who is moreso meh when it comes to Serpentor, but this looks like a must have figure.
