View Full Version : Figures Glow in the Dark Zartan (ARAH)
I love gimmicks...I loved Zartan... What Zartan needs is more gimmicks:
These are a couple extra Zartans I've Cast up with Glow in the Dark effects. Because these are extra I've not painted them and probably wont because I'm trying to sell them. I'm currently working on finishing the molds for the whole figure because I want the pants and cowls in other custom colors.
Their Head, Torso, Elbows, and lower arms are Cast with a Glow in the Dark powder. Everything else is from a Production V1 Zartan figure. (Pads are from a Comic Pack Zartan)
The figure pictured with pads is cast in a Clear Resin, the other in flesh colored resin.

The Clear Zartan also has an additive that makes the figure Glow Blue under UV light.

If there are 2 things that I like the most it's clear figures and glow in the dark figures.
You've made the best of both worlds there!

That is creepy looking. I prefer the fleshtone. The glow in the dark effect looks neater I think. Very cool.

This is an awesome first step to doing an ARAH version of the Sigma 6 Toxic Zartan, glow in the dark green with clear green armor shields and purple pants.

You shut your mouth and get out of my head. Sigma 6 Toxic Zartan is high on my list of figures to cast once I get my Zartan molds finished.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAH I WANT ONE!!!!!! I'll even get started on 33/4" versions of his accessories for you!!!!
If you want to stray from the vintage, a comic pack head, or even just the hood from the 25th figure, would be a nicely stylized addition to a Toxic zartan.

Pretty much sums up my checklist for "i don't collect it, but will i buy it?"
These look cool, could the gloves/mask be painted in a different glow in the dark color, or would it look too stupid?

I may stray a little... I think I'll definitely try just a strait up vintage figure 1st...
My friend Lance Sputnik did one a little while ago so I'm sure I'll pull from his work as well as from the S6 figure.

I suppose it could be done... you would just have to find a paint that glows Bright enough, and in a color with enough Contrast to make the gloves and face design stand out.

The Clear version looks awesome. The fleshy one glows kinda splotchy.

Nova- Are you getting your powder from Risk Reactor? If not, you should check them out, as they have a ton of color options. Blue tint powder that glows blue and whatnot. It's what I used in that GITD Predator I showed you at JoeCon. Yellow that glows old school green. It's expensive, but the best I've found so far. Also, it looks like you may need to mix it longer before your pour as you'd still got some significant swirling present. All in all, very cool though!

Holy crap, these are awesome. I love clear figures. Add glow in the dark and Zartan to that, and you have pure win.

I'd have to go back and look... I bought mine on Ebay... I went with the cheapest option so experimentation wouldn't kill me.
For these 2 Zartan's I didn't actually mix the powder into the resin. I filled the molds with the powder, shook out the excess powder, and then added the Resin... That's why the Glow on the Flesh-toned one is especially splotchy.
When I did mix the powder in with the resin I may have put too much in because I ended up with settling.

You can see on the one white Zartan where the powder settled to the top of the head and shoulders

You have to use a fairly quick setting resin for both the GITD and metallic powders due to the weight differential. Let me see if I can recall what I used the last time, and get back with you.

Nice job on these, pretty slick.

I'm going to try switching from Smooth-on's Task 4 to Task 3.
Very similar properties, same 20min potlife, but the demold time is reduced from 17 hrs to 4.

Not sure...I was booted from the Coil facebook group so I don't exactly feel welcome.
Also the Day Coil Con is scheduled for is a Setup-day for the Columbus Toy Show...
It will really be a last minute decision if I Plan on attending....
But if you're at CoilCon...its a short trip on Sunday to Check out the Columbus Toy Show.

There's a decent pic of some of my extras in my BST thread.

My photobucket isn't super organized, but I've not done much casting prior to this year.
Also...not sure if it will work, but I have an album on my facebook page.

Kinda neat... but it seems like it would go against Zartan's whole motif:
"Damn it, Flint! We've lost Zartan in this stadium full of people... He could be anyone!"
"Nope, I've got it... Breaker, kill the lights!"
"No problem, Flint."
"Yep, there he is, three rows down, glowing in the dark. Think he's dressed as a peanut vendor. Lowlight, Sci-Fi, round him up and bring me back some of those peanuts."
