This is by no means a knock on the amazing artists that did the GI Joe card art but I remember some of the card art just being amazing to me as a little kid and some....well.... Not so much..

I loved V1 storm shadow card art..had to have him... Sweet ninja with crossed swords standing in front of fire and explosions! Nice!

Not so much with sneak peak...a dude with a double chin wearing a globe on his head holding a huge flashlight.

What do you think?

I loved most all of the card art. A few of my favorites are Blizzard, Hit & Run, and DEF Mutt and Junkyard.
Mercer, Red Dog and Taurus art had some weird proportions. Lady Jaye has a weird face and Sneak Peeks double chin has already been mentioned.

I have a loop of card art on my work computer. I have a new found appreciation for the early 1982-83 stuff. The art is brilliantly painted.

My favorite is probably the Cobra Officer 1982, Airtight and Alpine 1985

I never liked when they went from the explosion to the digital one.

Worst is Cobra-La art and the 25th Wild Bill, no offence to the artist, but its like Bill was drawn by an 8th grade art student.

ROC and then Retaliation... which can't even be considered card art lol....that started it all down hill..POC almost brought it back had it had good file cards like the 25th/ME/ARAH days had...I might have decided to keep those carded...but alas we chnage card art every year now so its pointless unless its a vintage re-release...Carded Footloose is going to hurt if they dont offer em through the club soon...

My favorite card art is ROC. Scarlett & Charbroil are my favorites. The ROC card art easily blows everything else out of the water.

I have to agree, there was a certain level of detail with those cards that the ARAH just couldn't achieve.

I'd have to say my least favorite card art was the Club Exclusive Klaw card. It was clear that they used Destro's image as a base and just drew over it. It came out very warped and was unappealing.

94 has godawful card art. Part of it did have to do with the idea behind those figures, but the card is still just too much. Most of the backgrounds sucked, and logos were everywhere; G.I. Joe/Cobra Logo, Codename, main MOS, action feature, figure number. Even the Card bubble was a problem since it would cover up any artwork that wasn't so bad, though to be fair that has more to do with design than the art itself. Still the art wasn't great either. I remember thinking that Snow Storm didn't have half bad card art; he has a cool BG, he's firing his weapons, colors are nice. Good stuff. Then you remove the bubble and realize his thigh is as large as his freaking Torso. I don't care if he's wearing a Space suit, it looks stupid. He is also firing his Big ass Rocket launcher without looking, somehow that just seems like bad idea and rather goofy.

I recall the 98 line having very bland Card art, the Vehicles were fine but the figure art was just boring as hell.

94 was pretty hit and miss. Lifeline, Flint and Shipwreck had amazing card art. Snow Storm, Metal Head, and Stalker not so much.
Star Brigade was also rampant with weird proportions.

This is almost too hard to narrow down. I will stick to the ARAH years. Obviously many jump out as being awesome and just classic. And truth be told the card art help to sell the figures. Some of my favorites were 1984 Roadblock, 84 Baroness, 84 Firefly, 84 Storm Shadow, 82 Cobra Trooper( look at those eyes ), 83 Destro, 85 Snake Eyes, 85 Flint, etc. One that I never cared for was the 1987 Raptor.

The biggest glaring problem with Retaliation figures is the lack of card art. At least ROC had nice artwork on the packages. The great looking "ultimate" SE that we saw at the con is going to be lessened imho due to the lack of card art. That is what really captivated my interest as a kid. You would go down the isle at the store and say wow! It is something the Hasbro folks have really lost sight of. POC art was nice, 30th very nice, Retaliation is nothing? Who's decision was that?

Sneak Peek would be my first, from his chubby baby Gerber face to the stupid flashlight accessory.

When I bought him as a kid I almost never liked playing with it.

Hard to pick a fav. I have always loved the card art, even ROC.
One of the ones I hated (figure & art) back in the day was Psyche-out. He had stupid shit all over him, a stupid face and a boy band hair cut.
