I was able to get ahold of one of the 3-pack Fireflys that was on EBay and took some pictures.
Awesome figure.

the head not matching the rest and the overalll lack of paint apps does give him a cheap o look, i see what he's saying. i can't wait to get him, spruce him up with a couple dabs of paint, maybe throw a 25th ff head on him.

There are camo paint apps but it's dark grey on light grey just like the original. I think the head could be a little better but otherwise it definitely lives up to the "ultimate" version even though this is the three pack version and the ultimate version looks crappy.

I'm sure I'll buy one to put with my FF collection, one to customize (a few touch-ups, etc), and some more just to play with. I'll probably change out his right thigh with something else, maybe. I'll probably also change out his head.

My guess is that this figure is pretty close to production so we will see it at some point. Mine came with one of the rifles rubber-banded to his hand, like you would expect for a figure about to be put in the package. Also, there were no Hasbro markings on the figure.
Really amazing figure! Hard to believe that this came out of the same factory as that horrid Retaliation FF with the scooter thingy. Easily my favorite version of FF, even better than the ROC TRU exclusive one from a few years back.

Yeah, these were supposed to come out this month, so I'm sure this is the actual production version.

Lots of unrealized potential there. I love the construction (except for the head), but he needs more paint apps -- mostly webgear, straps, and buckles. Tha camo could use some work, too.

Its an early release figure and will have QC issues as will the main releases I am sure. I plan on moving the actor likeness head to this body anyway...to have the ultimate retaliation unmasked firelfy...

Exactly, this has been a problem with the entire Retaliation line thus far, the lack of paint apps and detail have really bored down the line...

Well you can do like most tout around here, re do the paint yourself if one is so inclined...i mean its just a grey paint job...how hard could it be to fix?

Chiming in as well, great looking figure. Thanks for sharing.
It really is an exceptional looking figure. And you have to remember, it's from a 3 pack! It's not a single-carded figure. The single carded ones usually get the better gear and paint. But I don't have any complaints at all about the paint or colors. It's a subtle camouflage, just like the original figure had. And I like the fact that he has a solid colored mask. It matches the gloves and boots. What's even better is that since it's a movie sculpt, the eyes look really good. The movie sculpts usually have much better faces than the regular line, since they have to resemble real people. Even if they don't match the actor perfectly, they don't look as cartoonish or bland as regular line.

I still think this Firefly was a 30th line concept, that, like the Night Viper, Crimson Guard, and Ultimate 85 Snake Eyes, just got bumped into the movie line to fill it out.
Again, I just marvel at how well done the 3 pack figures have been, and for generally being cheaper than buying 3 single carded figures.

Probably, but it will always be a movie figure now. They get discriminated against enough as it is, so we can't afford to let this one get listed as a 30th, rather than a Retaliation. After all, there's always the chance that if it weren't for the movie, we wouldn't have got these at all. Or if it wasn't for that Renegades trash, we might have gotten them already.

This is "3 pack Firefly", the ultimate moniker was thrown around by Hasbro for the "as movie accurate as we can get within our means" figures like Firefly, Duke, and others.

I have no concerns about it making it to retail, with the delay, this wave of 3 packs and the first movie accurate wave (or, Retaliation wave 2) all become "quasi wave 1" for 2013

Actually, it was my understanding that Hasbro stated at JoeCon that they will re-release everything that has already been released next year (which could mean Holidays 2012).
With collectors having their bellies (nearly) full of the first round of product, it's up to the kids to move the product forward.
Again, here's hoping this awesome figure makes it to retail.

Yeah, I haven't seen any clear indication how nuts gonna go down. Did Hasbro say at Joecon that the first wave next year was gonna be what was the first wave this year? If so, that might screw us somewhat. Roadblock, SS and SE are already clogging the pegs at a couple of Targets I frequent.

Maybe I'm wrong. And if I am, more's the better. Because I really want that figure.
But I'm 95% sure that I read Hasbro will re-release everything when Retaliation gets closer.

So Hasbro is going to rerelease the garbage that's clogging the pegs already. The only ones that are going to sell are Red Ninjas, Cobra & Joe Troopers.
F**K! Why can't they just start with Wave 2 and do they're retarded Revision cases after. Guess it's back to ordering online again. Ordering online for a Movie line, what's the world coming to?
As for Firefly that will be my ultimate Firefly that I've been waiting for since 2007.
Is Firefly's torso the one from Concept 30th Flint?

Well, I don't want to get a rumor started. And like I already stated, if i'm wrong, then it's perfectly fine with me. I recall reading that Hasbro will re-release the first wave of products in 2013, which could mean holidays 2012.
Hopefully someone can clear this up.

First, thanks for posting the pics. I can't wait to get mine, I bought one from the same E-bay dealer, and it should be here soon. And yes I paid way too much for it, but I love Firefly.
Second, man oh man this thread just goes to show you can't please everyone. Different strokes for different folks. Hasbro said they wanted to match the camo and colors to the original Firefly as much as possible for this release. I think the figure is amazing, great sculpt, awesome accessories, great articulation, great colors. This will be my default "ultimate" Firefly. If I had to critique it at all, it would be why use the thigh attachments from Life-Line, when the SE holster and ammo pouch would have looked a tad better? And he should have come with a silenced weapon( MP-5 or such ). After all know one ever sees Firefly enter or leave right? but these are only very minor gripes to an otherwise perfect figure.
Also anybody notice that Firefly has the new torso that was also on the concept vault Flint and Hit & Run figures?
Troynos

It comes in a 3-pack, that's why there are less accessories then a carded figure, but really it's not that lacking: two rifles, pistol, 2 knives, 2 bombs and a backpack.

Yeah. Definately like this one better then the "ultimate".
The ultimate does a great job of meshing the wave 2 Retaliation Firefly and the 3-pack into one figure, but I like the classic look of the 3-pack better.
Diezelboi
07-10-2012, 10:37 PM

I got my Firefly from the same over seas dealer yesterday. Guys this figure does not disappoint. He is simply amazing! His camo matches the original almost perfectly( except the head which is straight dark grey ). It is the perfect blend of classic 1984 Firefly with some modern updates( removable bombs anyone! ). I took my 25th figure off the shelf and compared it to the new one, and the 25th is laughable. It is officially retired and put away now. The only thing I was not real crazy about was his choice of weapons. I gave him the comic 2-pack Firefly's MP-5 and it looks great; and with the added wrist articulation he can hold it perfectly. I think the head sculpt is great, but I have heard some complain it is too plain. Well the Comic 2-pack Firefly's goggles fit really nice, and look very much like the Sideshow figure. I sat down and played with this figure for a solid two hours after opening him. I just wish he would have come single carded instead of the 3-pack. Hasbro screwed up on that one, the so called "ultimate" figure should have been in the 3-pack and this guy should have been called ultimate and single carded.
The only thing that really sucks is this figure deserves a file card and stand. :(

Yes! Exactly! The 84 FF had a holster on his right leg and some charges on his left. I used to think the gun molded onto his right leg was a drill! So maybe I'll make-believe that Lifeline's oto/ophthalmoscope is actually a small acetylene torch.

I tried it and it looks ok, but trust me the head on the new one is way better. There are little details that the pics already posted don't bring out. He has a very serious, almost pissed off countenance about him. It is subtle, but definitely there.

Gatchaman, the color is nearly identical to the original; and that was Hasbro's plan all along. The pics on-line almost always make him seem lighter. It is not quit as dark as the comic 2-pack figure, but way darker and more accurate than the 25th single carded figure. It really is the definitive Modern/Classic Firefly.
