since we've got the ongoing gi joe a real american hero where #155 has left off in marvel years and now devil's due series is no longer in the same arah continuity it depends what readers decided if it is or not.
what characters of gi joe, cobra, iron grenadiers, dreadnoks and other characters based on the toyline you like to see in the comics?
what vehicles you like to see?
what i like to see are characters didn't had a change to appear in the comics, ones only had one appearance like budo and salvo did only in marvel run of comics, the vehicles that didn't appear ones hardly appear in comics.
i like to see the joes are
updraft

all the sky patrol joes
windchill

budo

I'd like to see more development of characters already in the series.
I know why Hama did it, and for the most part it was okay, but it got annoying back in the day to have "new character x" show up for his advertisement appearance and never get seen or used again.

I agree with Troynos that i'd like to see more character development, especially of the Joes. Itseems like they've taken a back seat to the Cobras of late. As far as who I'd like to see more of: Falcon, Tunnel Rat, Shockwave, Hit & Run, Torpedo, Lifeline, Gung Ho.

I'd like to see Sgt. Slaughter, Beachhead, Stalker, Gung-Ho, Rock n Roll, Outback and Claymore get a storyline where they are rescuing a scientist that somehow involves time travel back to medieval times.
Or a deeper development of Ambush and Low-Light's Dino Hunters saga.
Cool stuff.

I would kinda like to know what happened to Slice and Dice. They were hanging out with CC towards the end of the marvel run and then just disappeared without reason. I also would like to know what happened with the Ninja Force. They also disappeared towards the end. I would kinda like to see more variety in everybody's costumes too. The 90s marvel issues were fun because it was a nice mix of the old classic costumes and the new ones.
I know the comic is more catered to long time fans and nostalgia rather than selling toys but I would like them to still window dress all the issues with as many vehicles, vipers and characters as they can. This was always one of the most exciting things about the comics that I think all of the new stuff across the board is lacking.

that is more less what the IDW-verse is though. and for the most part their idea of relevant is have Scarlett wear above waist cargo pants and oversized t-shirts and have all the men drawn to look exactly the same. They also have the exciting new characters known as Sevane, Chameleon, and Firewall. I wouldn't say it is horribly mired in the 80s.

I don't see any need to end it, it just needs to be refreshed and I think that is possible with the sidelining of Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow and anything ninja and go back to more military infused stories. there are a number of characters we could go back and revisit such as Spearhead, Hit & Run, Falcon and Budo to name just a few.
The characters can be appropriately updated to not be mired in the 80's. There are even numerous ways to bring back the Eco Warriors, and Tiger Force. I can think of a dozen ideas to tell a Sonic Fighters, Sky Patrol, and Python Patrol story. It'd be something for the ARAH fans while not recycling the same idea over again.
Other than the very thorough list Gothiczartan put together, I would like to see the inclusion of some International characters as well such as TNT, Letal, Kangor, Urzor, and so many more.

You know what I'd like to see? Take any five characters, READ their filecards and specialties, choose your era, and write a good story with those ingredients. I'd prefer some sort of timeline so that characters nowadays weren't vietnam vets who manage to remain physically in their early to mid twenties 40 years after the war ended. The original marvel run was good about that because Hasbro rotated figures every two years, so you HAD to have new blood come in the stories. By now firewall probably has carpal tunnel, so keep rotating in new and making the old useful but ancillary to the stories.
There were some issues of Marvel back in the day (and also the new licensees) where you got the feeling the writer's didn't understand the MO or their personalities beyond a point.
A good character driven action plot will always win me over.

I want to see more of the rank and file Cobra troopers. Not just serving and cannon fodder for the Joes, I want to get to know them, understand their culture a little - find out what the difference really is between the Vipers and Blueshirts, and find out whether the Siegies or Snow Serpents or Alley Vipers have the toughest selection. Actually, another intraCobra conflict or "Civil War" would be a good way to do this.

Ninja Force was kinda' written out, circa issue 144 of the original series. They were shown opening a dojo in Spanish Harlem to train young kids. It was exactly stated or depicted, but it looked like they were operating out of the Soft Master's old restaurant. Thought it was a very fitting and satisfying ending for them.
I had the impression that Slice and Dice were killed by the BATs in the whole "Firefly takes over Cobra Island" story. Of course, I also thought Firefly died in that same story...but he returned in the IDW continuation, none the worse for wear, and with no explanation.
For your "window dressing" concept, I think they're trying to do that with all the recent scenes in the Pit. Last issue (181) had a cameo by Charbroil, for example.
Personally, I'd like to see more of the Oktober Guard. They were featured a few months ago, but that entire plot seems to have been forgotten.
I actually liked the Kamakura character and concept from DDP. I wouldn't be upset if they brought him. Along those lines, I'd like at least an update on what the Collins family is up to. For instance, remember the little girl Snake-Eyes brought back from Borovia who moved in with them?
Oh, and more Clutch, too.

Well they were still present I believe around issue 150. iirc their last scene was when SE attacks the newly brainwashed Baroness, Billy, and SS. My only guess is that they just ran away after that.
For your "window dressing" concept, I think they're trying to do that with all the recent scenes in the Pit. Last issue (181) had a cameo by Charbroil, for example.
That's the right idea but I want ALOT more of that. Why not have Ozone, Air Tight, Barbecue, and Clean Sweep in the background too? The more the merrier.

Well they were still present I believe around issue 150. iirc their last scene was when SE attacks the newly brainwashed Baroness, Billy, and SS. My only guess is that they just ran away after that.
I went back and checked, and you are right. I was completely wrong about them dying or disappearing at the end of the Firefly story. They went back to Cobra and made several appearances after that. Issue 150 was their final appearance.
Honestly, Slice and Dice are two guys I could do without seeing, again. My dislike of them is probably why I forgot all about them. Unless there's a REALLY cool story or change in them, I hope they stay hidden.
I think we'll get more of the window dressing stuff. Fans seem to like that.

G.I. Joe Concept Vault Figures - Some Names - GI Joe News (http://www.hisstank.com/gi-joe-news/conventions-9/gi-joe-concept-vault-figures---some-names-11489/)
the characters based on the unreleased figures i want to see are
laser viper
heat viper
crimson immortal
gijoe police unit
What are those? Man, I want those army builders!
On topic, what I want to see in ARAH are the poor characters who have yet to make their debut:
Copperhead
Big Boa
Astro-Viper (not satisfied with a cameo)
Gnawgahyde
Downtown
Pathfinder
Sub Zero
Bullhorn
Freefall
Rock-Viper
Desert Scorpion
Incinerator
Big Bear (LH already had the perfect chance, but...)
Barricade
General Flagg II
The other non-appearers I don't much care for.
