This is a pic of a vehicle that was built by the italians and used by the french... This is exactly what it looks like... A cannon built into a scooter. This is the Vespa 150 TAP and was intended to be airdropped along with the french paratroopers and used as a support vehicle. It used a 75 mm recoiless rifle built into a standard Vespa scooter and was used by the French Airborne Forces. It was airdropped in pairs along with a two man crew: One had the gun built in and ammunition was carried on the second scooter. Yes, the soldier WAS sitting on the gun barrel... But fortunately it was never intended to be fired from the scooter... It could be removed from the scooter and mounted on a tripod for field use. According to wikipedia, 800 of these were used in the Algerian war(1954-1962) THIS particular vehicle makes many of the more unlikely Cobra/Joe vehicles actually plausible.
