SDCC 2012: Exclusives Up--Now sold out--HTS F5 Madness!!!

I realize that the 2012 SDCC is quite a ways off but I can already feel the panic, madness, despare, and enjoyment that will ensue.

I remember the madness of the (Insert Online Toy Seller Here) refresh debacle and folks freaking out all day over being able to get these at a reasonable price.

The pre-orders sold out super fast and I can foresee panic setting in early this year for folks that want the Jinx and Shockwave sets.

I sure hope that things run a bit smoother this year online for us collectors and we don't have to make any phone calls or send angry emails.

What are your thoughts on what it will be like when the exclusives hit the online store this year?

Meh, just be patient and you can get everything in a few months ..cheap. I got both sarges for about 10 to 15 each and a zaranna for about 20 just have to be patient and a great deal will pop up (I got all three on here and those were my trade values)

I suspect Jinx...at least the "regular/red" Jinx will be fairly plentiful this year. Hasbro tends to produce higher numbers of movie tie-in exclusives, and that's what she originally basically was.

White/Unmasked Jinx will probably be very difficult to get ahold of, though. No telling on Shockwave HISS. There doesn't seem as much demand as there was for the Starstriker, but that could change quickly.

Man it's gonna be an expensive week. Marvel's got some really good exclusives for the Con, too... (Not even counting the extra-long Helicarrier).

I've got one "ace" for potential trading, but we'll see if I have to play it.

I don't think SDCC is quite as costly for some as JoeCon in order to recoup costs.

Example:
single carded Jinx -$14.99
single card Footloose -$30.00

Shockwave- $59.99 (and this includes two figures)
Oktober Guard truck -$100.00 (with NO figures)

you get the picture. Not to mention those JoeCon prices are AFTER you have to have a $44 membership AND a $355 ticket just to get in, and if you want to buy multiples throw in a couple more hundred for Golden Ticket. So when it's said and done you're looking at more than half a grand before you even have the "privilege" of purchasing items at JoeCon. SDCC you get a ticket and anyone can buy anything thats not sold out. Plus its made in greater numbers. That's why SDCC doesn't go for the same insane prices as JoeCon stuff.

No thats just if you want the con set or golden ticket craziness to almost ensure you extras of buying 3 of everything if there is 3 of everythign to buy. There is general admission. BUt with the way the run that currently they get nothing but to peruse the vendor tables...

Well... the wait to get in the line actually became waiting in the line... so, it was a total of 6+ hours of my Thursday last year. And the whole time we were being yelled at by security... and they actually threatened to throw my wife out because she went over to ask a question.

So, overall, a very unpleasant experience.

It's fun, if you pace yourself. You can't squeeze it all in in one day. Just wear comfy shoes, take a Xanax, and prepare for hours upon hours of standing around.

Back when I first went, it was awesome, and relatively calm... Once Hollywood realized it was a major draw, and the organizers realized they could sell it to Hollywood, it became INSANITY. The year Van Helsing came out was the beginning of the madness... Hugh Jackman & Kate Beckinsale were there, and that was that.

I don't think they've announced the limits yet, but if it is like last year it'll probably be one tank per person, one variant Jinx, and two red Jinx's per badge.

If you're lucky and the person hasn't reached their limit, then you may have a chance. Otherwise, Monday after...join the 'refresh' madness.

Every year there are quite a few figures that go up for sale after SDCC from HTS. The challenge is being available to buy them. Last year, it was a disaster - for nearly an hour no one could get through their system as it was overwhelmed. But even with Slaughter, quite a few USA Slaughters were sold on HTS.

The one positive about Jinx is that this year's figure is merely a repaint of a movie Jinx. With Slaughter and Zarana, neither figure has been sold before or since in any form. Now the variant Jinx is far more unique due her head, but the "in-demand" figure is essentially a red dye bath away from being a jinx and a sticker application and some detail work from being perfect.

...pretty expensive. I came to the conclusion that they're toys and not worth the wasted gas or the crazy secondary prices. Hearing grown men complain about toys(myself included) has given me a small window of opportunity to get outta this cycle of over-spending. Actually this years Con has somewhat cured me of this 'I gotta have it' mentality, plus, a lot Tankers explained that its the buyers who set the value of a fig by buying it at ridiculous prices. So once 'John' & 'Tim' buy Footloose for $150, I'm instantly excluded from joining in. Funny thing, I feel less bitter, and I also have a renewed vigor for the art of patience.

Well that sounds like it totally sucks....!! This is why we pay inflated secondary prices on exclusives. So we don't have to deal with this crap. I've heard the lines are a joke and the whole exclusive toy thing is very unorganized at SDCC. You may be stuck in a line forever then be screwed out of what you want (selling out, etc.). I'm not sure how true it is, but it's something I don't want to partake in if it is.

I've done it the past few years and it's never really the same.

Last year they did it tuesday, and everything was up at Noon est.

However the year before it was Monday and things started slowly showing up at 9 am est.

Every year the site breaks and every year you just need to be lucky and stick with it.

I got all the Joe Exclusives last year but form the time I put them in my cart it took about 45 minutes and I had to refresh the check out pages hundreds if not thousands of times. Often it looked like my transaction failed but I kept refreshing and kept trying.

I wish Hasbro was like Matty and told us the exact time and day so we would all have an equal shot.

Slaughter didn't make an appearance on HTS.com until Thursday after SDCC ended. All the other stuff hit Monday and Tuesday. Some die-hards stuck it out the whole time glued to their computer waiting to pounce on it the moment it went up for sale. That's what was so epic about it. Also, the thread crashed and the mods had to start a new one. Good times. :)

Edit: I seem to recall someone missing out on Slaughter or maybe Zarana because they were taking a dump and couldn't be at their computer. :D

I will say that regardless of they day both Zarana and Slaughter hit while I was out to lunch. So if you can't hang out at a computer all day and night I'd definitely block off 11-1pm EST each day to try to snag one on hts.com. That'd by my bet.

QFT! The line to get regular passes last year (for this year) was literally over a mile long... and an over 4 hour wait. You used to be able to sit on the floor with a clipboard and register for the next years show.

I don't blame you. It sucks being the popular one. Having to perform all those duties just so people are happy with you. I for one would never ask anyone to do my buying unless it was a close friend who happened to be going, just like what you are doing for yours closest to you. I usually will stay away from those convention exclusives because of their awful prices later. The headache of going through with waiting for something that either won't come or getting something that doesn't even feel worth the wait.

Just came back from the con after lining up for my ticket, needed to eat, washroom, rest for now. Man the line for Hasbro is about 50 times worse than last year...I got to the ticket line at around 7 and was way late, got a 2pm ticket. I was maybe 1/3 of the line in, and those that came after stretched really really far. Last year, in contrast, I was there at 7 as well and got a 10pm pass...its an utter cluster f$%^ this year... I will be heading back to the con shortly to line up, I hope I can get my stuff...I will start posting my sdcc log here later tonight.

phewww just got back from the con to drop my stuff off, I am happy to say the actual booth went way smoother than last year, it only took me an hour to get through the line! And I was able to get in the back of the line AT the actual booth when I arrived at my corresponding time. In contrast to last year where hundreds of us were lined up against the back wall on the other side of the con for 3-5 hours. I think they gave out less tickets this year per time frame, and the booth seemed to process orders much faster. Now back to the con for me to actually enjoy myself!

As of closing last night nothing was sold out. Later Friday the variant jinx had a sign saying "more tomorrow"... ie saturday. I'm sure you've all heard this before but there is limited storage space on the convention floor so as they deplete stock they have to go fetch more.... that's why the make things "out of stock". THis year it seems they've been really good at restocking within 2 hrs of going out of stock. The two items I consistenly saw out were the my little pony and bruticus. I've never seen the shockwave out of stock, nor the regular jinx. Yesterday was the first day I saw the variant out of stock... then changed to "more tomorrow". You might be surprised how many people are in line just for the my little pony and are willing to buy someone the other stuff.

They never say ahead of time. They dont want to get into hot water if they end up being late for some reason. Also the way that they tend to operate items go up one at a time, so it can be quite awhile until everything shows up.

I just got home from SDCC and while i was in line getting my exclusives i asked one of the Hasbro HTS employee's if they had toys set aside for the online sales and she said yes but it was a very small amount. Everything they brought to San Diego for the SDCC was sold out by last night at 5pm. I also asked what day to expect the items to be available for online sales and she said that she can't reveal that information. So be prepared for it to happen any day in the next week but if it is like last year it will be Tuesday.
